  1. "I stand in this world of mine, born in a time when peace, compassion, and kindness were not only accepted but celebrated and through them darkness would be culled and kept at bay. The years have passed since then...and this world has grown rotten. People who's hearts might seem to be in the right place instead of using compassion and kindness have turned to the very things that their enemies use as their weapons: hatred, cruelty, ignorance all in the name of making their "enemies" fall before them. Do they not realize that through hatred and negativity that our enemies will simply grow more sure of their own beliefs, that the evil they fight for must surely be just because the ones that fight against them are just as rotten as they are? Not only that, they've turned this hatred against the innocent, those that don't deserve it and should not suffer for the sins of others and in turn these people have been turned to darkness, a darkness that has slowly gripped our world in a vice. I look at what my people have become in this day and age and I weep, even when it's prove that kindness and compassion will always win over hatred and cruelty they still hold steadfast in their belief that they are right, that their way of thinking is the only way to live so they spread their mental poison across their world and turn innocent people into soldiers for a war that will only end in suffering for all.
  2.
  3. Yet even as I weep, I cannot come up with an answer to end all of this. I can only do what I can and hope and pray that it'll all work out in the end. That this venom spread by those who only wish to control and hurt others will soon break and that humanity can move forward to a brighter tomorrow, a brighter future. If this venom, this toxin is not broken and that my people do not turn their eyes and attention to the things that truly matter, i fear for the future of this world."

  9. A research vessel stands outside the orbit of what resembles a burnt out husk more than any actual living planet, multiple drones flying back and forth between the planet and the vessel. Within the cockpit of the vessel sits a captain, tired and groggy from a long cycle of studying this burnt out husk. A cup of coffee appears out of a chute beside him as a holographic entity appears in front of him.
  10.
  11. "Captain, you do know it's alright if you take a break? The Drones do more than enough to catalog everything found on this...tragedy." The entity chirps out.
  12.
  13. The captain gives the entity a tired stare as he says "I don't need a ship AI to tell me how to do my job, besides, makes it easier for the suits back home to catalog the data if I go through and sort everything out myself." He wistfully stares at the planet afterward. "Sad isn't it? They couldn't stop hating each other long enough to realize they were ruining the world they were in."
  14.
  15. "It is...depressing I suppose, but why do you care so much about some backwater planet that's been dead for milennia?" The AI crosses their arms as they give the captain a quizzical look.
  16.
  17. "Because those who don't learn from the mistakes of others are doomed to repeat them and if I don't care about what happened here, who will? Either way just leave me to my work, it should only take about another cycle for me to finish anyway."
  18.
  19. "As you wish captain" The AI disappears as The Captain rubs his face. He looks to the planet and reminisces on why he became the captain of a research vessel to begin with. To have legendary adventures and find dead civilizations, dead tech floating about space, ancient secrets that have been hidden for milennia. Instead most of what he found was this, dead worlds where the people were too busy destroying each other to realize their planet was dying. To this day, it still pains him to find planets like this, but if nothing else he catalogs the history of these worlds to...bring a sense of closure to whatever spirits remain there, to learn from them so he can spread their lessons across the rest of the universe. It's a job he takes great joy in and as he drains the last drop of his coffee, he thinks on how important his job might be in this universe of his.
