» | how do you meet: being someone who likes to wander around (by foot or by air), he heard a noise from somewhere deep in the woods. what he found was someone who wasn't very friendly-- and him, being the reckless airbender, thought it would be an amazing idea to take on a random firebender by the name of min yoongi who had obvious anger issues. kanako had been training somewhere nearby with her brother, trying to use his energy against him, when she heard the commotion. telling her brother to stay behind, she went to go inspect it, and, seeing who it was, immediately went to defend the airbender.

    ∘ kanako starts seeing him /everywhere/. she swears he's stalking her or something (and maybe he is), but she's quite fed up with it, and intends to confront him about it.
    ∘ the first time he sees her again is when she's helping jungkook improve on using his wind. but, she was a waterbender that had no idea what to do with air, and the younger was trying his best, but.. his moves weren't for airbending at all. after watching for five minutes, he couldn't bear it anymore, and decided to interrupt (much to kanako's dismay)
    ∘ another encounter in the woods, but this time it's just her. if he was stupid enough (which he will be), he'd interrupt her to tell her that waterbending had always seemed so.. pretty. graceful. it was all "flow-y and shit". the moment he does decide to share his two cents, he gets frozen on the spot.

» | background: kanako was born in kanazawa, an area of japan with preserved districts from the edo period, art museums, and regional handicrafts. often times she found herself going to those districts, those museums, just to pass the time after school. it was interesting to see the remains of old ages, and seeing the beauty of it all made her wish that she could see what it was before. kanazawa was a mostly earthbender colony, and was where her mother met her father. they lived there for a while, before moving back to her mother's hometown of nagoya, a waterbender-habited area of japan, for her grandparents who had gotten sick, when she was five. moving wasn't much of a hassle, seeing as she easily found her own little area to go to for training, and some friends to hang with during class. her family was middle ground in terms of social status, with most of the family as benders, but it would be lying if she said that people didn't whisper about her father when they thought she wasn't listening. since she was quiet, most people thought she was zoned out-- not paying attention at all. so they would gossip, about how her father should feel ashamed that her mother was the one who could protect the family instead of him, and more (probably). it took a lot of her self-restraint to keep from fighting these people, especially since her father was such a hardworking man who provided for the family in terms of food and emotional support.
                they moved to south korea when she was about sixteen, and, though her younger siblings had hopes that it would be a much more accepting place than back home, kanako knew that that would be a set up for disappointment. so she continued her regime of quiet, listening in to conversations and making some non-recurring friends. she did, however, have one person who stuck with her. min yoongi-- the boy who was basically her in most ways only two years older-- and her clicked (for the most part). they were the silent, intimidating couple that no one would mess with, the one that everyone doubted was real because of their playful jabs that seem not-so-playful to those who didn't know them, but they did help each other. yoongi would help her train and ward off any annoying guys in public, and in their private time he'd be soft, warm touches and smooth (yet horrible) pick-up lines that made them both laugh like idiots. the scar he gave her was actually an accident, the outcome of getting /too/ lost into their little spar. he apologized profusely with boba tea and kisses-- like he usually does. they even got matching tattoos, the aquarius zodiac symbol on their forearms for their birthdays.
                about three years later, their relationship hit a rough spot-- a rather extreme one, actually. he'd become a lot more distant, and it didn't take much for kanako to catch wind of what had been going on. it was a surprise to her that he'd have the audacity to cheat on her-- never mind that it was with kim namjoon (who wasn't all that bad, actually). though it was understandable to most (and let's just say most were quite insensitive around her when talking about their relationship); after all, she was literally water and he was fire-- their elements wouldn't mix even if they wanted it to. after the breakup, everyone could see how she slowly shut down again, and went back to her blank self.
