  1. 1. Download GCFScape (https://nemstools.github.io/pages/GCFScape-Download.html). This program will allow you to extract the audio files from the mod packages.
  2.
  3. 2. Navigate to Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons, and find the mod packages (.vpk files). The file names follow the numbers in the mod links, e.g. 833480674.vpk for DOOM Music Overhaul - Part 1 of 8 (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=833480674)
  4.
  5. 3. Open the mod package using GCFScape and extract the sound folder INTO a new folder on your Desktop called whatever, e.g. DOOM Music Overhaul (Louder), so it'll be DOOM Music Overhaul (Louder)/sound
  6.
  7. 4. Repeat this process for all the other .vpk files. Paste their sound folders into your new folder
  8.
  9. 5. Move your new folder into Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons, so it'll be Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons\DOOM Music Overhaul (Louder)\sound\... etc etc.
  10.
  11. 6. Download Audacity (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/). This audio editing program will allow you to make the audio files louder
  12.
  13. 7. Open any audio file within your new folder, amplify them, then save and overwrite them using the appropriate settings (sample rates and bit settings here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=283279259). You can search on YouTube how to amplify using Audacity, it's pretty simple
  14.
  15. 8. Unsubscribe my mods from the Steam Workshop. As long as the .vpk files remain in the addons folder, they will conflict with the audio files in your new folder
  16.
  17. Good luck!
