Politikeren Gordon Dean fra den atomiske energy kommission sagde i går at al information omkring test sprængninger i Nevada vil blive holdt tilbage for at fohindre Russerne i at finde ud af dem. Dean brugte sætningen "atombomben" da han referrede til sprængningerne, hvor to blev sprængt sidste weekend. Men senere sagde han at det ikke var det han mente. "De er eksperimenterende atomsprægninger" fortalte han til en pressekonference, hvor han tilføjede at hans beskrivelse var byrdefuld men nødvendig for at give en korrekt forklaring.

On the contrary most people thought that the experiements were an important part of the nations defense and were proud that the tests were being carried out in their backyard. Gradually people got used to the bangs and the aftermaths of the blasts.
