A lonely night with Monika, Part 4 (DISCONTINUED)

--PART 4--
I groggily open my eyes. I look around and see that it’s already afternoon. I sigh and go to sit up, when I notice a cute, brown-haired girl, lying asleep on top of my arm. Slowly, I lay myself back down and wrap the other arm around her into a gentle hug.
Monika starts to stir. “Mmm… five more minutes…” Monika shuffles back into me and starts snoozing.
“come on Monika,” I squeeze her a bit tighter. She turns to me and smiles. “Yeah, I know. We should start getting ready for your move, right?”
“Yeah.” I move towards her lips for a kiss. We lay there like that for a short time, until the rays of the setting sun pour into our eyes.
“Come on, let’s get busy.” I say as I hop out of bed. Monika does the same, after brushing herself off a little.
Me and Monika begin to clean up my space around the room. We start to fold all my clothes into the suitcase I left here. Little by little we start to pack up my things and put them away. Every now and then Monika would find an old trinket of mine, and I’d show her my hobbies as they came up. We’d talk about different books and movies, Magic the Gathering cards, and other things until we were about done.
After everything is done, I whip out my phone and check my messages. Nothing, right, of course. I had forgotten since Monika had been here, but I’ve barely made any new friends since coming to school. I exaggerate a lonely sigh and open up my dad’s messages.
Me: “Hey Dad, have a situation, you got a moment?”
Dad: “Yeah bud, what’s up?”
A: “Girlfriend needs to stay at our house for break. Will explain when we get there.”
D: “What happened? Is Monika OK?”
I had forgotten I mentioned Monika to my father. My dad has always been a sort of closet-weeb, so I was comfortable talking about her to him. Thank god that I had forgotten to mention that she is, or at least was, virtual, otherwise this conversation would be a lot harder to explain. Monika, who had been peering over my shoulder, takes the phone from my hands
M: “Hello Mr. Anon's dad, I’m Anon’s girlfriend Monika. I had some rough times with my single dad that’s really hard to talk about, and I’m scared to go back home.”
Dad takes a bit to respond, but eventually messages me back “Alright. Nice to finally meet you Monika. Can you give Anon the phone back?” Monika hands me the phone.
A: “You rang?”
D: “You trust this girl, right?”
A: “Of course Dad, I love her.”
D: “Alright. Then she can stay here. What are you going to do after break though?”
A: “I’m still coming up with a plan for that. She won’t be at the house for long, probably through all of break though, as she lives up here.”
D: “I trust you. She’s welcome here as long as she needs.”
A: “Thanks, Dad. It’ll be good to get home.”
I close my phone and look over to Monika. “All set.”
“Really? That’s awesome! Your dad is really nice.”
“yeah, he’s pretty much the favorite parent.”
Monika and I spend the next couple of hours eating dinner and playing some videogames until it’s time for bed.
“Good night, Anon. I’m so glad this worked out for us.” Monika snuggles into me once more, and we assume our position from this morning.
“Well, we’re not out of the clear yet. We still have to figure out what to do after break ends. Let’s not forget that you’re technically homeless right now.”
“Ahaha, I am, aren’t I? I wonder what my parents would think?” Monika shifts in her bed a bit.
“Monika, are you alright?” I look up a bit to see her face, and I see, tears…?
“Ahaha. Anon, you really know me well. It’s just, talking about parents and stuff made me feel a little down, is all.”
“Getting a little homesick?” I prod.
“It’s kinda sad, isn’t it? I make all this effort to destroy my world, just so I can be with you, and now I have the gall to miss it? How selfish can I be…”
“Shhh… It’s alright.” It was my turn to comfort her now. I kiss the top of her head and pull her into me. “It makes sense you would miss them, I mean, you’re in a completely new world now. But, I promise you that I’m going to be here for you and make your time here the best time of your life.”
Monika sniffles a bit and wipes her eyes. She turns to look at me. “R-really?”
“Yeah, I promise.” I kiss her forehead to reassure her. “And hey, I bet your mom and dad would be crazy proud of you right now. You’re the first human being to ever cross into another universe! Isn’t that nuts?”
Monika chuckles a bit, and her smile warms up the room. That, or at least my heart. “You’re right Anon, I am.” Monika turns back around and snuggles back into me.
Some time passes. When I feel like Monika has fallen asleep, I start to close my eyes.
“Anon? Are you still awake?”
“yeah, what’s up?”
Monika shuffles a bit in the small bed. “…Thanks, for earlier. I really needed to hear that.”
“Anytime, my love.” I give her a final hug good night, then close my eyes and sleep.
