  1. It's been over a year since the previous Majora's Mask any% tournament, and with summer approaching, Samplename_ and I decided it was an ideal time for it to return! Last year's tournament was largely successful in encouraging runners of all skill levels to race, as well as offering an incentive for many people who had never speedrun before to learn the game. We'd like to once again offer that opportunity to everyone. The tournament will be largely the same as the previous year, but there will numerous changes based off our prior experience to streamline it and hopefully make it progress even more smoothly.
  2. That being said, here's what you need to know:
  3.
  4. Tournament Begins: May 26
  5. Format: Double Elimination
  6. Starting Entrants Cap: 64 (Subject to rise if there is enough interest)
  7. Duration for each match: 1 week
  8. Link to sign-up: Challonge.com/mmany
  9. Tournament discord: https://discord.gg/EfqkSeK
  10. Prize: $20 (via Paypal)
  11.
  12. One of the biggest issues with last year's tournament was the pacing. Many people had scheduling issues and it often halted the tournament for long stretches of time, making it take much longer than it should have. As a result, the time limit to complete each match has been increased to 1 week, but will be much more strictly enforced than last year. If for any reason you fail to complete your match in the allotted time, 1 or both participants will be disqualified. Also to this end, we require that your username on Challonge match your twitch account's name so that your opponent can more easily contact you in order to discuss your match. If you already have a Challonge account that you would like to use, but doesn't match your Twitch username, you can change how your name is displayed specifically on the tournament page via the "Your Settings" tab.

  14.
  15. Additionally, a Discord server dedicated to the tournament has been created that we would like everyone to join to make it even easier for you to contact your opponent. We hope that with these changes it will be simpler for you to contact your opponent to schedule each match. If for any reason you are having trouble scheduling your match with your opponent, contact either TrevPerson or Samplename_ on Twitter/Discord and let us know, and we will do our best to work with you.
  16.
  17. Like last year's tournament, we encourage participants of all skill levels. Keep in mind seeding of the tournament won't be finalized until after sign-ups have closed, as we won't know for sure how many entrants to plan for until then. Our seeding methodology is generally to attempt to ensure that at least one of each participant's first 2 matches is against an opponent of a similar skill level, so no need to be concerned if you're new to the game or even just learning it. The goal is that you learn a lot and have fun racing with others while potentially meeting new members of the community!
