Now that I've seen the movie, I have a final answer.

Overkill doesn't even begin to describe how fucked MechaGodzilla is from *just* what Kira, Mu, Shinn, and Athrun are using.

Akatsuki already blocked a superlaser with a comparable power envelope to the Photon Scream. MSF and Destiny-II, with the Zeus gun, are space station-busters. And the katana, for all its weirdness, would cut through that nanometal armor. Destiny-II and IJ spec II are easily faster-than-eye (all of them are) so MechaGodzilla would be flailing around like an idiot trying to tag anyone in this group.

And then of course there's the nanomachine disruptor. If it doesn't outright break everything about MechaGodzilla, it'd at least force the soul of Kevin-Ghidorah to come out, and that head is the idiot head. Blud won't know how to deal with whoever these robots are and can't fall back on an accelerated healing factor. The moment Kira and Lacus open up those wings, MechaG has vanishingly little room to power out. And even if he does, so what? Gonna focus down the MSF? You still got seven targets, bro. Honestly, even Athrun can go through MechaG, Shinn's too quick to even register, and La Flaga coulld use those DRAGOONs like the industrial plasma cutters that they are.

All the other four need to do is cover the evacuations and make sure no one on the ground gets hurt, then form up again to blow the kneecaps off of MechaGodzilla. It won't be piss-easy, of course, but that's more down to the fact that none of the pilots would want to sacrifice civilian lives and cause immense collateral damage, even if Apex will be made to pay for it.

This team is a well-oiled machine, with rehearsed attack patterns and enough gumption to go off the script if things go south. Their weapons are a class above what Apex's best can do. These pilots are arguably the best in the world (at worst only second to Celestial Being's Ptolemaios team). Ren Serizawa can't even handle the smoke from his own creation.

Frankly, the most you need to bring is one. In a neutral field with no potential for collateral, Kira iss enough. Shinn is enough. Athrun is enough. Mu might need the Zeus Silhouette but still. This is gravy.
