Replace your xchat colors.conf file with mine - I'm hooked up.  On the command line:

1. rm .xchat2/colors.conf
2. pico colors.conf
3. copy and paste (middle mouse wheel)
4. save (ctrl O)
5. exit (ctrl x)
6. mv colors.conf .xchat2/

ALL DONE - MOVE TO THE SECOND HALF OF THIS FILE AND DO THE SAME THING WITH xchat.conf BELOW.
