#### What is "Showderp"?
Showderp is a collaborative thread on 4chan's /vp/ board that involves giving a user suggestions for competitive Pokémon team to battle with on Pokémon Showdown for fun!

#### Basic Glossary
- Champ: The user taking suggestions and using those suggestions to battle
- Spectator: A user watching battles
- Sugg/suggestion: A user-submitted suggestion for a team
- Suggester: A user suggesting a suggestion
- New team call: A post in the Showderp thread from the current champ asking for a new team to use
- New champ call: A post in the Showderp thread from the former champ asking for someone else to become champ
- Claim: A post in the Showderp thread from a prospective champ to take on the mantle of champ
- Free pick: A Pokémon suggestion that can be anything the champ desires
- Donnel: A Pokémon that starts off as an unevolved Pokémon and can be "evolved" by KOing other Pokémon in battles
- Impeach: The process of replacing an existing champ with a new one due to rulebreaking or otherwise intolerance of their behavior

#### Procedure
1. If there is no current champ, a user may claim champ by posting with a tripcode and saying "me" or something to that effect, all future posts from this champ should have this same tripcode to ensure no deception occurs
  - A champ may elect to champ is an specific format by specifying as such in their claim such as ("me for gen 4 uu"), otherwise it's assumed to be the current generation's OU or natdex OU
2. Suggesters may then post suggestions for the champ in any form they want such as:
  - A full Showdown formatted set that can be imported directly
  - A vague description of a set such as "Charizard with only Fire-type moves"
  - A name of an existing set that can be found on the archive or the set database such as "ebin cade"
3. Once six suggestions have been received, the champ will build a team based on these suggestions. Champ can exercise some discretion when interpreting sets if they're illegal or incompatible with formats to make them legal or skip them if there's a reason they are unusable. There is a soft limit of 15 minutes for building this team
4. Once the team is built, champ should queue for a battle on Pokémon Showdown and post the link with their tripcode
5. Champ battles! Spectators watch and chat and laugh at champ or opponent when they do silly things
6. Champ continues to queue for new battles and post them as many times as they like
7. After champ is done with their team, they can call for a new team. This is similiar to the claim in step 1, but other people cannot claim the mantle of champ during this time and champ may elect to change the format if they desire. This process can repeat as many times as champ wants and for as long as champ wants
8. After champ is done champing, they can call for a new champ. This resets the procedure back to step 1 and allows a new champ to claim and continue this process

#### Handling Breach of Procedure: Impeaching
If a champ break the procedure, is particularly annoying, or goes on too long with other champs becoming impatient, they may be impeached. An impeachment is effectively a new claim from a user who wants to take on the role of champ forcefully. This most often happens when champ purposefully skips or significantly alters a suggestion. An impeachment is **not** a process entirely governed by the rules. Whether or not participants accept the impeachment is entirely up to them. Two champs (with one being an impeaching champ) may champ continously with popularity wavering between the two until one of them gives up. It is considered good practice to give up if you are getting fewer spectators than the other champ.

#### FAQ
1. What happens if I get a really awful suggestion (shitmon)?
  - Usually an awful suggestion is given to you for one of two reasons:
    1. A user is trolling and finds it funny to give 4 Heal Pulse only Chanseys to a champ
    2. A user doesn't like you and wants you to stop champing but doesn't want to impeach
  - In either scenario, skipping the suggestion is a break in procedure and can result in you being impeached. Success of skipping a suggestion without being impeached is determined entirely by your likability and skill. If you're a bad champ with a bad attitude, people will likely impeach you for not accepting your "shitmon of shame." If you're a good champ the people like watching, they'll likely let it slide.
2. The chat is locked and I can't help. How do I fix this?
  - Showderp has been under heavy moderation from the Pokémon Showdown moderators for a while. To remedy this, we use the Dogars client (see link in the resources section) which has little to no moderation at all and cannot be stopped by Showdown moderators. If you see a triangle or ඞ next to your name when messaging, you're using this 3rd party chat. If not, either hold the CTRL key while sending your messages or enable "Send chat messages through alternative channel" in the settings gear in the top right of the client to send messages to this chat by default (holding the CTRL key with this enabled will send it to normal Showdown chat instead).
