  1. -- recreantOctopus [RO] is hunched over with his coat hiked up over his head to keep off the rain --
  2. -- ladyTemplar [LT] is clearly in the forest where the rain isn't able to get through the trees as heavily --
  3. -- recreantOctopus [RO] looks about. Did he hear something? It's hard to tell with the rain and lack of sleep playing tricks on him --
  4. -- ladyTemplar [LT] peeks out from behind a tree, spotting Cirrin running outside in the clearing --
  5. LT: You therrrrre! Rrrrrrunning in the rrrrain!
  6. -- recreantOctopus [RO] stops and spins around --
  7. RO: whos that what do you want?!
  8. LT: I want to know why you'rrrre rrrrunning in the cold rrrrain when the forrrrest has coverrrr in bounty.
  9. LT: I just find it a bit odd why anyone not a seadwellerrrr would want to be that wet.
  10. -- recreantOctopus [RO] blinks --
  11. RO: what do you think the coats for?
  12. LT: Well, of courrrrrse, but a trrrree is farrrr betterrrr at keeping one drrry.
  13. RO: thats
  14. RO: thats maybe a good point
  15. -- recreantOctopus [RO] runs over to the treeline, keeping his distance from Aoifa --
  16. LT: All I'm saying is that you shall not be skewerrrrred forrr coming in my forrrest in this ill weatherrrr.
  17. RO: your forest is it?
  18. LT: Well, morrrre of my lusus' forrrrest, but my hive is rrrright in the middle of it anyhow.
  19. LT: Surrrely you saw the steeple frrrrom outside in the valley.
  20. RO: yeah
  21. RO: thats
  22. RO: actually what CIRRIN RUNFAR was avoiding
  23. LT: Oh rrrreally? Why?
  24. RO: other trolls are trouble
  25. -- recreantOctopus [RO] looks at her pointedly. He does notice her atheletic build --
  26. LT: Well, frrrret not. I only cause trrrrouble to those deserrrrving it.
  27. LT: Not to rrrandom trrrrolls trrrying to get out of the rrrrain.
  28. -- ladyTemplar [LT] winks --
  29. -- recreantOctopus's [RO'S] eyes widen, briefly --
  30. RO: well... CIRRIN RUNFARs not just looking to get dry
  31. LT: Hmmm?
  32. RO: food and
  33. RO: and sleep
  34. RO: that sort of thing
  35. LT: Ah, so you rrrrequirrrre charrrrity?
  36. -- ladyTemplar [LT] 's face lights up with an eager look in her eye. yay she gets to do good maybe yes --
  37. RO: charity?
  38. -- recreantOctopus [RO] gives her a wary look. He doesn't sound so keen on the word himself --
  39. LT: You know, a place to sleep and a few hot meals. The Churrrrch is morrre than able to accomodate someone less forrrrtunate forrrr a while.
  40. RO: really thats CIRRIN RUNFAR got questions
  41. -- recreantOctopus [RO] shuffles a few steps closerer. Maybe, just maybe she means it. --
  42. LT: Of courrrse, feel frrrree to ask anything. It seems not everrrry trrroll is as awarrrre of the benevolence of the Grrrreat Motherrrr above.
  43. RO: benevolence huh?
  44. RO: okay so youd actually take CIRRIN RUNFAR in to this church?
  45. LT: Of courrrrse, follow me.
  46. -- ladyTemplar [LT] turns around, giving him a beckon as she walks down a grassy path in the forest --
  47. -- recreantOctopus [RO] sways on his feet as he hesitates, then follows --
  48. RO: so first question
  49. RO: why?
  50. LT: Because the Holy Book teaches: "As you have been given the gift of surrrvival, do not spill blood carrrelessly; a kind deed pleases the kind Motherrr most rrrrregally."
  51. RO: okay second question
  52. RO: what does that mean?
  53. LT: That a trrrrue Templarrrr should not slay anotherrrr norrrmal trrroll merrrrely forrrr being less well off than herrrrself, and that a few kind gesturrrres can add up to a well-earrrrned kindness laterrrr.
  54. RO: oh so give something and hope to get something in return later?
  55. LT: Well, yes, but even if the favorrr is not rrreturrrned, at least a good act has been done.
  56. -- recreantOctopus [RO] stumbles, and hurries to catch up --
  57. RO: and thats supposed to be a reward in itself?
  58. LT: Of courrrse, it pleases the Holy Motherrrr above, and doing Herrrr good worrrrk is a joy in itself.
  59. -- recreantOctopus [RO] stays silent for a moment --
  60. RO: she sounds like a great person!
  61. LT: She is! She is the one who found the firrrrst Motherrrr Grrrrub, and supplied the means forrrr the firrrst trrrrolls on Alterrrrnia!
  62. RO: wow thats pretty far back
  63. RO: like forever ago
  64. LT: I know, and the Templarrrrs have been arrrround everrr since the Holy Book was penned to hold Herrrr teachings.
  65. RO: you do other things than just
  66. RO: er help out poor hiveless gutterbloods right?
  67. LT: Of courrrse, like hunting beasts and culling dangerrrrous blasphemies forrr the good of society.
  68. RO: see thats cool wait what are eblasphemies?
  69. RO: *blasphemies
  70. LT: Mutants, of courrrrse. Orrrr at least, those who arrrre too dangerrrrous to allow to live.
  71. LT: Like those who may brrrring down the Earrrrth with a merrrre worrrrd and such.
  72. LT: To be fairrr, though, that's morrrre of worrrk forrrr new rrrrecrrrruits who are still but dipping theirrrrr feet in the waterrrs.
  73. RO: well... mutants are disgusting anyway
  74. LT: Yes, and it is ourrr duty to make surrre they arrrre swiftly euthanized, forrr the good of Alterrrrrnia.
  75. RO: good riddance
  76. LT: Heh, indeed.
  77. LT: Ah, herrrre we arrre, Hive sweet Churrrch.
  78. -- ladyTemplar [LT] chuckles a little at her (awkward) little play on words --
  79. -- recreantOctopus [RO] looks up at the place --
  80. RO: is it just you here?
  81. LT: Well, mostly. Of courrrse, I just live in the upstairrrrs. The lowerrrr arrrrea is forrr rrrreligious serrrrvice.
  82. RO: this is quite some place
  83. LT: Yes, you should see it when the moons arrrre out. The moonlight falls thrrrrough the windows just rrrrright.
  84. RO: those funny looking colored ones?
  85. LT: Yes, those.
  86. LT: They depict imporrrrtant scenes frrrom the Holy Book.
  87. RO: oh yeah more about the book
  88. -- recreantOctopus [RO] looks at them though --
  89. LT: I can prrrrovide you a copy if you wish. We have plenty to sparrre forrr the currrious.
  90. RO: erm thats not actually required is it?
  91. LT: Oh, no, but it is a good rrrrread if you'rrrrre interrrested.
  92. LT: Plenty of storrrries of adventurrrres of both Templarrrr and Crrrusaderrrr alike!
  93. -- recreantOctopus [RO] rolls his eyes. Books... Reading... --
  94. LT: ... It's good forrrr rrrainy days. Betterrr than rrrrunning arrrround in the rrrain.
  95. -- recreantOctopus [RO] shrugs. If he's going to be taking food of this girl, might as well take the book while he's at it --
  96. RO: sure then CIRRIN RUNFAR would love to read it!
  97. LT: Excellent! Just have a seat anywherrrre and I'll get you a copy!
  98. -- ladyTemplar [LT] obviously they are inside now. --
  99. LT: Oh, and I suppose you need something for yourrrr hungerrr, yes?
  100. RO: oh yeah that too
  101. LT: Of courrrse, I'm surrrre I still have something left frrrom yesterrrrday's hunt.
  102. -- ladyTemplar [LT] leaves, but then returns with a copy of ~THE HOLY BOOK YAAAY~ and then exits again to get him something to eat. --
  103. -- recreantOctopus [RO] holds the holy book carefully and flicks through it wondering if it has pictures --
  104. -- ladyTemplar [LT] only in the front --
  105. -- recreantOctopus [RO] looks at them briefly, then quickly looks about the church --
  106. -- ladyTemplar [LT] finally returns, with some soup. --
  107. LT: This should warrrm you up.
  108. RO: well CIRRIN RUNFARs not gonna say no!
  109. -- recreantOctopus [RO] licks his lips --
  110. -- ladyTemplar [LT] hands it over to him --
  111. LT: Just trrry not to spill any.
  112. RO: and waste it? not a chance
  113. -- recreantOctopus [RO] eats or drinks the soup --
  114. LT: Heh, I guess you've been in need of sustanance forrrrr a while, eh?
  115. LT: You'rrrre prrrractically inhaling it.
  116. RO: CIRRIN RUNFAR doesnt actually know how long CIRRIN RUNFARs been living like this
  117. RO: feels like
  118. RO: a sweep
  119. RO: more?
  120. RO: nah cant be more than half a sweep
  121. LT: You poorrr thing! How unforrrrtunate the hands of fate have been to you.
  122. -- ladyTemplar [LT] clasps hands --
  123. LT: Yes, cerrrtainly this is a sign that you need my divine assistance.
  124. RO: it is?
  125. LT: Of courrrse! The hands of fate have led you herrrre so that you may rrrreceive help frrrrom such a Templarrr as myself.
  126. RO: lucky CIRRIN RUNFAR then
  127. LT: Yes, Misterrrr Rrrrrunfarrrr, I shall have to keep you underrrr my rrrroof till you arrrrre able to get back on yourrr feet again.
  128. LT: I prrrrayed forrr the Motherrr to send me a mission, and this may be just the beginning sign I have looked forrr.
  129. RO: mister?
  130. RO: oh
  131. LT: Well, you arrrren't a madam.
  132. LT: .... Rrrright?
  133. -- recreantOctopus [RO] laughs --
  134. RO: no but CIRRIN RUNFARs never been called mister before
  135. LT: Hmm, I don't see why not, it is simply a common courrrrtesy to use Misterrrr and Madam in conversation.
  136. RO: okay maybe its the courtesy thing then
  137. RO: hey what kind of mission is helping CIRRIN RUNFAR gonna lead to?
  138. LT: ...I don't know. The Holy Motherrrr worrrks in mysterrrrious ways.
  139. RO: so youll find out when it happens?
  140. RO: no need to think too hard about it
  141. LT: Exactly.
  142. -- recreantOctopus [RO] nods his head in agreement, then almost actually nods off --
  143. LT: Tirrred as well>
  144. LT: *?
  145. RO: the nightmares are terrible!
  146. RO: so CIRRIN RUNFAR avoids sleep
  147. LT: Therrrre should be a sparrre coon in the rrrroom behind the altarrrr.
  148. RO: oh um
  149. RO: CIRRIN RUNFARs lusus
  150. RO: is somewhere
  151. LT: What sorrrt of lusus is he?
  152. LT: Mine will keep an eye out forrr it and bring it back herrrre.
  153. RO: octopus
  154. LT: Ah, alrrrright. Won't be too harrrd to find then.
  155. LT: Not too many forrrest octopi herrrre.
  156. -- ladyTemplar [LT] chuckles, cause it was a joke --
  157. -- recreantOctopus [RO] doesnt seem to get it --
  158. RO: guess not
  159. LT: ... Errrrr, it's a joke since octopi arrrre usually aquatic.
  160. RO: they are?
  161. RO: CIRRINR RUNFAR hasnt been in the sea often
  162. RO: there was that one time though...
  163. LT: Well, I suppose therrre arrre some that live on land, but I've neverrr seen one in my forrrest beforrre.
  164. -- recreantOctopus's [RO'S] eyes lose focus --
  165. RO: funny that theres a lot of strange creatures
  166. LT: Yes, indeed.
  167. LT: Oh, and my lusus is a hind, in case you see herrrr arrrround.
  168. LT: She tends to stay to the forrrest, though, wherrre she can hide.
  169. RO: clever
  170. RO: she doesnt attack redbloods does she?
  171. LT: Oh, no, she tends to keep to herrrrself. She's a shy crrreaturrre.
  172. LT: .... Well, unless you trrry to attack herrrr firrrst.
  173. RO: not likey to happen
  174. RO: so you dont mind if CIRRIN RUNFAR just... goes to sleep?
  175. LT: Not at all, feel frrree to.
  176. -- recreantOctopus [RO] smiles --
  177. RO: goodday
  178. LT: Same.
  179. -- ladyTemplar [LT] nods --
  180. -- recreantOctopus [RO] walks over to try and find that spare recoupracoon. He looks back, one last moment of distrust wondering if he's going to get murdered in his sleep --
  181. -- ladyTemplar [LT] gives him a reassuring look, with no murderous intent. --
  182. -- recreantOctopus [RO] yeah, he was probably right about her --
  183. -- recreantOctopus [RO] walks through the door and closes it behind him --
