[ROUTE] Taz: Wanted Any% [TAS]

  4. The NTSC version runs at 60 FPS, which should make it more visually appealing to watch than PAL's 50 FPS.
  5. No other region differences have been found.
  6. - No Memory Card (to avoid the many autosaves).
  7. - Change the difficulty from Standard to Expert as it saves about 45 seconds throughout the run.
  8. - You don't need to pick 3 letters for your file name - you can choose 2, 1 or none at all.

  17. I've thought about stopping and charging a spin instead of just spinning towards your destination, but I'm not sure that is faster anywhere. It'd only be in places with a flat ground and your destination is mostly in a straight line (maybe Sam Francisco?).

  21. RNG Manipulation

  23. Objects that launch Taz (cannons, some signs, etc.) put Taz in one of two animations: getting up or bouncing. Bouncing is over a second slower, so we don't want that. It is possible to change which animation you get by pressing buttons at certain times, even during the launching state.
  24. Wall climbs may or may not be RNG - if you charge a spin against, for example, a wall in the bathroom in Samsonian Museum, savestate, hold B + Up and keep loading the state, you'll have different results pretty much every time. I have no idea if this is because of framerate or something else, but it's definitely odd.
  25. RNG Manipulation should also be useful in Elephant Pong - we want the Elephant to face Taz at the start of each round so we can get 3-scare goals (I doubt 2-scare goals are possible; if they are, the Elephant needs to face Gossamer at the start of each round) - and The Hindenbird - to guarantee perfect order on the final switches (more information below).

  80. Elephant Pong is a disgrace to game design. Not only is it the most unoriginal boss fight to have ever been created, it is also absurdly random, which means that any skill you might have at this pathetic excuse for a videogame is completely thrown out the window in favor of having the "quirky" experience of playing pong with an elephant for a ball. This level alone makes speedrunning this game an exercise in futility. What a joke.

  209. Lava-jump to the center before he reaches the TNT detonator. Try to collect the chilli pepper while he's moving without causing him to stop. Then, jump to him (don't fall in the lava or you'll lose your power-up) and burn him.
  210. I guess a TAS could use the speed from the spinning platform in the middle to jump to the 2nd pillar from the middle.
  211. The closer you are to Sam when spitting fire, the quicker his animation starts. Fast-fire doesn't seem to work on Sam though.

  219. Objects in your mouth stay between phases. Charged spins also stay between phases, useful for phase 3.
  220. 1st Phase - All hits 1st frame. Remember to swag between attacks/phases.
  221. 2nd Phase - You can glitch hit probably all of them ( https://youtu.be/R6Skzdk2dK8?t=1m2s ). If that doesn't work for all of them, you should still be able to hit 2 of them, maybe 3, per cycle.
  222. 3rd Phase - Will have to be RNG manipulated for optimal switch order (not sure when that's determined). Assuming the switches are named A to D (from left to right), the optimal order is (A B D C) (or (D C A B), since they're symmetrical). A charged spin might be faster than normal spinning between sides. Also, it might be possible to shoot diagonally at switches on the other side, but I doubt it.
