  1. 1. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  2.
  3. "The mayor acts very strange. Stranger than usual anyways. While the pig-folk is known for his greed and cruelty, not caring about anyone but himself, it is highly suspicious that he began to fund excavation of the mines below. Quite a bit of money went into the project but for what purpose exactly? Ariamite is dangerous and could prove fatal to our world. It is my sincere wish that the mayor will not wake up beasts that are better left off alone and asleep. I have to do more research to make sure that we aren't all in danger. Perhaps I will hire a guard soon and sneak into the mines to see for myself what dangers lurk down there.
  4.
  5. Avriel Summerborne"
  6.
  7. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. Was this elf, this Avriel onto something or was it simply all in his head? Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  10. 2. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  11.
  12. "I made arrangements with a guard to help me out with my endeavor to explore the mines. More preparation has to go into it before we dare to go down there however. I recently heard a rumor that there are suits that the Academy of Science developed. Seems to be perfect for my little venture down into the maw of the lion. I will have to talk to whoever is in charge at the Academy and hope that a bit of money can persuade them to let go of two suits. All things considered, I'm rather excited that I'm making headway.

  15.
  16. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. You wonder whether Avriel was able to get the suits he needed for the venture and whether he took off towards the mines. Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  19. 3. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  20.
  21. "Negotiations with the Science Academy failed. The suit is apparently still a prototype and they are not letting go of the very few ones they have developed already. I need to find another way to get my hands on those. I have to admit, I'm growing impatient. Does no one in this city realize in what kind of danger they are in? They are literally living on top of something that should be left alone for everyones sake... In any case, I will try to get my hands on the suits tomorrow through unconventional means.

  25. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. Was Avriel successful in getting those suits? And what were those unconventional means? Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  29.
  30. "After observing the Academy of Science for a while, making notes on who enters and leaves as well as different approaches to enter in the veil of the night... I gave up. A scholar like myself is not fit to be a thief. I am in luck however as I happen to know a thief that could help me. I still remember my first night in Numen vividly. Gambling with a stranger and winning all games... only to notice that after the stranger was gone, my pouch with most of my money was gone. I will try to track him down and see whether I can convince him to work for me.

  33.
  34. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. Did the elf find the thief and was he able to get his assistance in the matter? And who was the thief anyways? Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  37. 5. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  38.
  39. "Found the thief! After a lengthy talk with her she agreed to help me for a hefty amount of coins. A price I will have to pay if I want to continue my research and warn everyone with evidence as to why the mines are dangerous. The thief also introduced himself for ease of communication. Her name is "Mia". Simple and I'm quite sure that it's not her real name. Doesn't matter though as long as she is able to get what I need. She will try tonight. I hope she will be successful.

  42.
  43. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. A thief called Mia however? You ponder whether you ever heard the name before and whether you could find her. Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  47.
  48. "I got my hands on the suits! The thief was gone immediately after she counted the coins that I gave her. Looked as if she melted into the shadows... nothing that concerns me however. Right now, I need to plan my venture down into the mines. I need provision if I am to be in there for the long haul. Tomorrow, I will make sure to buy what I can with the rest of the money. I will also have to make sure to contact the guard that I hired.
  49.

  51.
  52. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. Thinking about how enthusiastically and fast those words were written down, you cannot help but secretly wonder how his journey ended. You put down the note and leave.

  55. 7. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  56.
  57. "I got all the things I need. Provision for two weeks, a sharp sword than I can use to defend myself and utility gear like ropes, traps and the like. Talked to the hired guard as well, whose name is simply Bob. Weird name which is why I forgot to write it down... anyways. He mentioned that the mayor was due to inspect the progression on the mine shafts in three days. Perhaps a great chance to get a confession out of him or at least see what he is really up to down there. A good chance indeed.

  61. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. You wonder whether they really found the mayor down there. Or perhaps they didn't even make it for some reason? Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  64. 8. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  65.
  66. "We are finally inside the mines. Nothing out of the ordinary to report thus far but we are only at the beginning. It really shows that the mayor did not care about how much money he was spending on this project. I have to admit though that I feel uneasy about continuing further. It is almost as if a voice is calling out to me... beckoning me to get closer. I asked Bob but he didn't seem to hear anything.... perhaps having the advantage of a good sense of hearing, due to being an elf, let's me pick up on it? That or I'm so nervous that my mind is playing tricks on me. Regardless, we are pushing on.
  67.
  68. Avriel Summerborne"
  69.
  70. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name and the confession that Avriel was really an elf was good enough of a hint. Curious about the findings of Avriel, you secretly hope to find more lost pages of his diary. Perhaps there is some insight to be had that is yet unknown? And what is that voice he was writing about? Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  73. 9. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  74.
  75. "I made a huge mistake that will cost us our lives. The suits were prototypes after all and I didn't double or triple check them. There seems to be a tiny hole in each of them that allows the radiation to seep in. We are doomed. While we can get out, it would mean that we potentially spread the infection which I cannot allow. I hit Bob on his head with the flat of my sword when he wasn't looking, knocking him out. Can't trust him that he'd stay down here for the sake of life outside. Have to use some of the remaining rope to tie him down here, as sad as that makes me. I will continue to press on alone and write down my findings in hopes it will help out someone in the future. I already forfeited my life the moment I stepped into the mines.

  79. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. The fate that Avriel had to shoulder was nothing you envy and yet, you hope to find more lost pages of the diary. What else did the elf find? Thinking about it, you put down the note and leave.

  82. 10. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  83.
  84. "Breathing gets hard. Ariamite Crystals are forming all over my body but despite that, I press on. There is a voice constantly calling out to me. To tell me what to do. Violent things primarily. They introduced themselves as "The God of Ariamite". I am not sure whether I believe it. Fact however is, that they can communicate through the crystals. It resonates from within them. My believe is that the moment you are infected, you are susceptible to a
  85. symbiosis with the Ariamite Crystal. It feels as if it is part of me, feel it's power run through me. I was not wrong in deducing that it's very dangerous. I do not know how much longer I will be able to live though...

  88.
  89. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. The danger of the Ariamite is intriguing and you wish to know more of the fate of the author. Thinking about the possibilities of what Ariamite could potentially do, you put down the note and leave.
  90.
  91. 11. You see a torn page from a book. Out of curiosity, you pick it up and begin to read it.
  92.
  93. "The influence is too strong. I can barely hang onto my sanity. The voice... it's stronger. It is slowly taking over my mind. I feel the pull towards the god and it's mission to spread throughout the entire world. I cannot... I will not allow it. Someone, whoever reads this... please, make sure that you prepare for a fight that will decide the future of all living things. I did find a temporary solution to fight back against this individual, this... I believe... deity. If you destroy the crystals that are sprouting from your body, it halts the effect that the radiation and mind-control has on you. It is very painful however, more so than being stabbed in the guts. I do not know if I can continue to do so... my will might shatter before I reach the very bottom of the mine.
  94.
  95. Avriel Summerborne"
  96.
  97. The torn page seems to belong to a diary that was written by someone of elvish nature, you deduce. The name is hint enough. With newfound information about the Ariamite, you down the note and leave, thinking about what else you might find out about that expensive, valuable ore.

  103.
  104. The note ends here. Reading it is difficult as it was written in blood, scrambled hastily as if it was done by someone who succumbed to madness. With no more information to be had from the page, you put it down where you took it from and leave, thinking whether the author deserved such a fate or not.
