Reasoning: With intentions of gauging the true strength of Vampires, as he's destined to battle against them at some point, Lucas challenged a Skeletal Lord of a vampire to a showdown. He's taken upon a new-found resolve to protect the town his ill master resides in, and this means battling against the undead that linger within the barriers. Seeing them as the towns biggest threat, the battle was vital to Lucas..

What is the moment:...Yet, the Vampire in question managed to seemingly catch his aether blade in its wake of destruction, only to seemingly possess the power to destroy it. The feat alone, while not truly being a problem for Lucas, was an incredible feat that had him ragdolling around the arena until he opted to manifest yet another blade. But, by then, it was too late, he had lost the battle, rather brutally at that.

Lucas, now aware of the impending war coming from outside the barrier and within, now intends on further developing his power and bond with aether by surpassing the level he's currently at, only as preparation for the inevitable battles to come. If he intended on making a difference, surely his strength had to grow even beyond his limit. There is a fear that looms over him now, of the undeads power to even destroy his ethereal blade.. his very spirit manifested.

The battle against the paladins and the vampires on the streets that Lucas had battled in only proved as another testament to his lackings in strength. He lost against a subordinate of the undead, at his full power. Not only that, but after securing an undead being that had been finally captured after such efforts, he was seemingly defeated by that same being, and promptly beaten to a bloody pulp. Surely, this isn't the only battle that will rage on in this war, and Lucas intends on further preparing himself for it, by all means.

To add onto this even further, Lucas battled against the Vampire that was once Junsei, only to be beaten far beyond anything he's ever experienced(-161 health 99 wounds). He was on the brink of death, nearly killed by the same people he was meant to defeat. While he survived by a mere hair of being saved by Claude, this will definitely affect Lucas's resolve even more to grow stronger.
