  1. The following are guidelines made by the Admiralty that are recommended to be abided by during a Lieutenant examination.
  2.
  3. -- Prior to beginning an examination: --
  4. * Contact an Academy Board member of the Greenwich Naval Academy and obtain authorization to test the cadet, this is to ensure that the cadet has completed his required work and is ready to lead as a commissioned officer.
  5.
  6. * Gather three officers to observe and assist with the examination, three officers must be present for the examination to begin, if an officer must leave, he is to be replaced with another officer. If no other officer can be found to continue the exam, the head tester may contact a member of the Academy Board or Admiralty to continue and end the exam with two officers.
  7.
  8. * The minimum rank to assist with an exam is Master & Commander. The only exception is a Lieutenant who holds a commission as professor in the Greenwich Naval Academy, however, he must be given permission to assist by the Admiralty/Greenwich Naval Board prior to beginning the exam.
  9.
  10. * The cadet is to be informed of how a Lieutenant exam works prior to beginning. By regulations, a cadet must pass the Lt exam with 25 questions correct, however, 30 questions must be asked. (i.e. If a cadet is at 25/27, three more questions must be asked.)
  11.
  12. * Lieutenant exams are to be held at a locked Greenwich server, do not lock a port down for a Lieutenant exam. At least one tester should have admin.
  13.
  14. -- During the Lieutenant examination: --
  15. * Lieutenant exams are not to be rushed, give a cadet reasonable time to answer a question (Maximum two minutes per question.) However, to ensure the exam does not take too long, officers are asked to feed questions back to a cadet as quickly as s/he can answer them.
  16.
  17. * Testers may as questions in any system they chose. They could ask one question each, working clockwise, or if it benefits, testers can each ask five or ten questions, before moving to the next tester.
  18.
  19. * Upon a cadet answering a question, keep score by using kohl's admin. (i.e. If correct, say ":1/1", this will log the score in the admin's logs (say ":logs" if you forget the score.))
  20.
  21. * Testers are to use their discretion when a cadet answers a question. If the question is answered incorrect, mark the question incorrect. If they answer half the question, clarify the question or as the question again with more detail, cautiously.
  22.
  23. Example:
  24. Question: Where are Royal Marines positioned on a ship during ship action?
  25. Answer: On the mast tops, sir.
  26. Tester: Any other location?
  27. Answer: As well as the bow, sir.
  28.
  29. * Please note there is no order in which questions must be asked, you may ask any question relevant to officership in The Great Navy of Britannia. For example, testers are not required for the first ten questions to relevant to history, and the ten after that relevant to ships.
  30.
  31. * Testers must work together to make an exam run smoothly for the cadet. If a tester believes a question is inappropriate to ask, he must team chat with the other testers.
  32.
  33. -- After the examination: --
  34. * If the cadet passed his examination, request an admiral to promote the cadet.
  35.
  36. * If the cadet failed his examination, inform him that he must wait one week and take two classes before taking the Lt. exam again.
  37.
  38. * Regardless of the result, the Greenwich Board as well as the First Lord need to be informed. Please include the cadet's name, score and tester's name in a private message to GreenwichGrader and SirLiamWashington
