[02:24:23] <Caedin> <nods> That is a very kind offer, one it would be a shame to decline.  Lead on!

[02:26:48] <Caedin> What is the story of this outpost?  Has it been here long?
[02:26:52] <Tatus> what i can bring thee sir Caedin? <says after a good laugh> some food other than the beer?
[02:27:50] <Caedin> I would like to try the fish and chips.  I heard the barkeep say it was very good when I came earlier.
[02:27:50] <Tatus> <nods> indeed it has. That is way is called Outpost. That was only an Outpost on a lonely road into the wildness. Then, thanks to the help of many generation of citizens we grown and expanded.
[02:29:36] <Tatus> Many people passed by this city, some of them left then to explore the world after learning a craft in this town, some others stayed but that's what this Outpost is ment for.
[02:30:56] <Tatus> Giving people a place to stay before deciding if leaving to explore this world and find their destiny of prosperity or death... or deciding to stay with us and help others
[02:31:26] Tatus stops and smiles, then he offers the food to him and the pint as well
[02:32:16] <Caedin> Ah, I could do with a good craft.  Wandering the roads can be a hard and lonely time.  Also, a decent amount of very large spiders...

[02:41:34] <Caedin> Well, I imagined I would work collecting resources for a craftsmam, perhaps pick up a thing or two from watching them, but have not had the chance.
[02:42:00] <Caedin> Either woodworking or blacksmithing...perhaps.
[02:42:42] <Caedin> Every town needs a decent blacksmith.
[02:43:07] <Tatus> Well, the wheel of luck is turning for you it seems. I might need some forager or digger. Then again, there are many crafts you might learn in our workshops.
[02:44:02] <Tatus> To be a smith is a very hard road, with many forks in which you could specilize. Work hard enough and you might become one, one day. I'm sure
[02:46:10] <Caedin> I think foraging or digging would be a good start.  And it would afford me some time to think on what to be, between swing of axe or pick, of course.
[02:47:51] <Tatus> <nods> wise words sir Caedin. Would you mind a little tour of the city? This could help thee thinking about me offer to becoem a citizen of this Outpost

[02:49:03] <Tatus> I maybe didn't mention it but other than the chef and the farmer i happen to have the honor myself to be the mayor of this city. Please, follow me now. I will show you a bit 'round sir
[02:50:35] <Tatus> This is me farmhouse where i do grow the crops for substain the city
[02:51:21] <Tatus> here we erect a statue to our beloved Vynora, but on our dwellings we do tolerate other Diety to be worshipped
[02:51:54] <Caedin> What kind of crops do you mostly grow?
[02:52:20] <Tatus> I do rotate my crops depending on our needs, and on the season

[02:53:06] <Tatus> Along the main road which gave the name to our settlement there are the shops of our most skilled crafter and our inn, the Drunken Rat, where you enjoyed already me food
[02:53:33] <Tatus> This to our left is our Cathedral, where people gather to pray and meditate
[02:54:38] <Tatus> This is one of our common houses. There is a another one to the west, in the outskirts of town, that is way larger
[02:55:15] <Tatus> Down here one of the two most interesting buildings. Our workshops down the ground floor, and above it the warehouse
[02:55:46] <Caedin> Very nice, I imagine it become quite busy here.
[02:55:47] <Tatus> in our workshops here, there are many stands one per main profession, in which our citizens can train their skills and discover their talents
[02:56:39] <Tatus> <nods> especially in winter <chuckles>
[02:56:58] <Caedin> Nice warm forges to ward off the bitter cold, eh?
[02:57:08] <Tatus> here there are our pens where our breeder does her best to give us very speedy horses.
[02:57:33] <Tatus> Indeed they are hot places to stay close to during the harsh winter
[02:58:01] <Tatus> Beneath that bridge there is the entrance to our mining town
[02:58:54] <Tatus> This is a little establishment that serves as base for the mining operation of the town
[02:59:27] <Caedin> It must have taken a long time and many strong arms to chisel out this area.  The stone work is extraordinary.

[03:00:14] <Tatus> <nods> that holds true. Many strong arms and especially many strong willed folks worked here to make thsi happen
[03:01:08] <Tatus> The mine expands further but we won't venture in it for now.
[03:01:59] <Tatus> due west we have some buildings in the outskirts of town

[03:02:31] <Tatus> A cart park, a stable, another common house and some free plots where people can build their own house till they get a solid profession
[03:02:42] <Tatus> that will allow them to move to the main road
[03:03:36] <Tatus> there are still some plots left, and some others are ready to be freed from old buildings. So the space is not actually a big issue
[03:04:10] <Caedin> I noticed that the forests surround the area between here and Safehold are quite old.  Are they under royal protection against harvesting?
[03:04:54] <Tatus> Not especially, but let's say none of the inhabitant of this area want to see it become a plain. So when we cut some trees, we use to replant them
[03:05:06] <Caedin> I would not wish to find myself accidentally on the wrong side of the law.
[03:05:08] <Tatus> this way the forest will still grow
[03:05:25] <Caedin> Ah, that is a very sensible policy.
[03:06:10] <Tatus> Well sir. I think i gave you a glance of what our Outpost has to offer.
[03:06:52] <Caedin> I believe my first impression stands, it is an excellent settlement, sir.

[03:10:31] <Caedin> ...you did say that you may need someone to forage for you.  What kind of supplies would you be in need of?
[03:11:22] <Tatus> Now if you please, follow me so i can show thee the room in which thou may live. <he pauses> then we may talk about  foraging
[03:14:08] <Tatus> It's not that furnished yet but at least it has a bed and a chest and a good fireplace
[03:14:23] <Caedin> And a nice window or two.

[03:15:43] <Caedin> A warm bed and a roof to keep the rain off.  Who could ask for more?
[03:15:57] <Tatus> I'm sure that with some effort you might turn it into a very nice and well furnished room

[03:17:14] <Tatus> Regarding the needs for foraging or digging. I might need some peat to be dug, and some spices to be found out in the wild as cumin, tumeric, paprika and such
[03:17:38] <Tatus> We do have a pit area in town in which you may dig some peat or clay and store it for further use of the crafters

[03:19:13] <Tatus> Here we have our pits for those materials, that just need to be dug. And some storage as well in which you can dump the materials you gather
[03:19:39] <Tatus> Then again, feel free to break the monotony by exploring your talents in our workshops of course
[03:20:20] <Tatus> And if you ever get hungry, in the Drunken Rat we have a larder for the citizens, the one next to the roasted hog, in which there is a shelf where i do put the food i cook for the townfolks
[03:20:38] <Tatus> You have to stand in the middle to take something out properly
[03:21:17] <Caedin> Very sticky, but honest work.
[03:21:36] <Tatus> The clay is less sticky, but yes. This will also help with thy body strenght
[03:22:37] <Tatus> don't feel the pressure to work straight away. Take your time discovering the area, take care of settling in your room, and surely the work is always appriciated
[03:22:49] <Caedin> Being a little stronger would be helpful.  I spent a night being chased by a giant wolf once.
