When the rift was formed it was due to the actions of many alternate universes. In one universe the cold war never ended as the space race only continued to accelerate leading to colonies on other planets in the solar system as well as many habitats orbiting planets and the sun. However, the cold war went hot and earth was reduced to a radioactive waste lands. The solar system was split between The Republic (NATO Remnant), The Human Syndicate (USSR Remnant); The New Eden Alliance (Neutral faction but made a lot of stations for saving animal and plant life), and the pirates. War raged between these four until the modern day.

Captain Rob John Paul Gustav Richtofen III. Real name unknown. Wanted for the crimes of piracy, homicide, grand theft, terrorism, slave trafficking, and kidnaping. Going by common rumours Captain Richtofen was a navy man of little renown in the Republic navy. After the destruction of gas mining and refining stations in Saturn's orbit by HS ships after the Republic navy protecting the area was ordered away, many of the crew being from these stations, the first mutiny on the ship was reported. The second mutiny came soon after when the new captain suggested switching sides and defecting to the NEA. This is when Richtofen was named Captain by the crew and they took their naval vessel to the pirate station riddled asteroid belt. Captain Richtofen is notable for his cruelty towards those who believe slighted him or his crew and his dedication to his crew.
