  1. William Afton and his wife lived quiet lives in a quiet town. The two worked at Freddy’s, a local family diner. They were nice, good people working to make other people happy with what they had. Freddy’s Diner didn’t have much in the way of luxuries. There was no toyline, and there wasn’t a syndicated cartoon, either. The Aftons weren’t billionaires.
  2.
  3. What they had was love. A mom-and-pop restaurant that made itself known through its affable, down-to-earth nature. The jovial Freddy Bear had a best friend named Bonnie, after William’s wife, and the young, friendly couple were more than happy to employ their acting talents in bringing the characters to life. There were no fancy machines at work. Just a human soul, underneath that honey-colored fabric. And that’s the way they liked it; the Aftons, and the rest of the town.
  4.
  5. The menu varied seasonally. They didn’t just have pizza and soda. Bonnie’s repertoire included sandwiches, soups, juices (freshly squeezed!), pastries, and more. As popularity grew, and the number of customers rose, they had to expand a little. But it was a small town, and a small restaurant. Each meal still had Bonnie’s special touch, even if she herself didn’t bake it.
  6.
  7. Varnished wood and low ceilings contributed to the homely atmosphere, which was designed after a forest cabin. It was old-fashioned, and had a personal touch that Showbiz Pizza lacked. Dim lighting contributed to the coziness, as well. Hand-crafted chairs and tables were angled towards the show stage, which was most often used for performances in the costumes.
  8.
  9. The costumes had been drawn up by William, and then put together by Bonnie. Freddy and Bonnie’s outfits started off as helmets, worn over a purple business suit and dress by William and his wife respectively. Once some money had gotten in, these were replaced with full on golden outfits. Freddy kept his tie, while Bonnie was accessorized with a bow-tie.
  10. A friend of William had upgraded the suits with small metal pieces that hooked onto each other. The hooks allowed the costume to keep a consistent frame, while giving the wearers plenty of room. The result was a fun, comfortable, and most importantly safe suit.
  11.
  12. There was no doubt about it. The easy-going Aftons were perfect for an easy-going town. After a year, they had made themselves known as members of the community, being respected as if they had lived in Ashton their whole lives. Bonnie gave birth to a healthy baby boy six months after they had started the restaurant.

  15. When the child went missing, it naturally sparked outrage. Even a little paranoia. Who would do such a thing? And to such a nice family, no less. William and Bonnie didn’t deserve this. People sent out search parties for a couple weeks, to no avail.
  16.
  17. When their child disappeared, something happened to the Aftons. They became withdrawn, and stopped making as many public appearances. People didn’t blame them for what had happened. But they silently agreed- something had died inside of William and Bonnie the summer of 1982.
