  1. Deep Ones
  2. Family and Type: Sahaugin/Aquatic
  3. Habitats: Oceans, Human Settlements*
  4. Disposition: Lustful, Calm, Emotionless
  5. Diet: Meat, fish, wild animals, etc
  6.
  7. Appearance:
  8. An Oceanic sub-type of the Sahaugin race, much like how the Kappa is the Zipangan. Due to living in the great depths of the ocean, near the Abyss, their bodies are hardier than their land borne cousins. The average Deep One will stand at roughly 220 cm and weigh 300 lbs. A Deep One's skin color will vary between milky white and various grey and blue hues. In contrast to the Sahaugin and Kappa, there is a large dorsal fin which can be flared and retracted on their backs. This is used not only as a form of expression but assists them while swimming. As an amphibian species, they naturally have webbed feet and clawed hands, with fins where their ears would be. One physical peculiarity that they can manipulate through the usage of mamano mana is the translucency of their skin. Often times during sex, in order to provoke the male they have chosen as their mate, they will allow him to see his seed pouring onto their eggs. Otherwise, generally, it is their eyelids.
  9.
  10. Society:
  11. Deep Ones dwell in a deeply theocratic society, worshiping the Chaos Demons as they were Gods. Chief among them is Dagon, who they view as a 'perfect existence'. The worship of ancestors is important in their belief systems, and those who reach great age and stature will often times take the names of Dagon and Hydra. Due to their kinship in the depths and their former masters, Deep Ones share an openly sisterly relationship with Mindflayers and Krakens. Though whether or not the feelings are returned mutually has yet to be seen.
  12.
  13. The Esoteric Cult of Dagon:
  14. The teachings of Dagon are diametrically opposed to those of Poseidon. Whereas Poseidon seeks peaceful co-existence between Man and Monster similar to the Demon Lord, those who follow the teachings of Dagon believe that chaos is the true state of the oceans. In a way, it's the difference between deathly calm and the roiling waves in a monsoon. In order to convert human settlements to the worship of their Lord and Master, Deep Ones will bring about plentiful harvests of fish and gold. All that they require in return are human men to take as husbands, to breed and increase their numbers with.
  15.
  16. *Deep Ones are fully capable of living on land as well as the sea. However, they have a great preference to living in inlets or other areas close to the ocean's waters so as to remain close to their ken. When newly married, the husband of a Deep One will spend some time under the ocean waves with his bride, engaging in almost ritualistic sex. This is not only to ensure children, but allow her Mana to seep into and physically change him. These changes may include scales on the lower arms and legs, webbing on the hands and feet, and an increase in muscle mass.
  17.
  18. To /d/ or not to /d/: Given that within the scope of MGE, Chaos Demons' servants will transform their men into inhuman creatures, the question remains as to whether or not to do it for the Deep Ones. On one hand, you could make an argument for the men to transform into more traditional depictions of the creatures to have fishman on fish-wife smash. On the other, it's safer to have minimal physical transformations to play into the Deep One-Human hybrids present in Shadow over Innsmouth and other Cthulhu Mythos works. Either way, I don't care what you choose to do.
