why I quit melee

who is your main in SSBm
dang I accidentally let go of the shift key too early
what color do you use for fox
I main PPMD
and I use blue bird and white knight
I do Falco-Marth
the only reason anybody uses green falco is because they want to be PPMD
I used to have this friend named RED
and he was pretty cool and wanted to be good at the game
we were kinda similar skill levels and so it worked out
and we would go play at our melee club and do doubles and stuff and he'd be my doubles partner
we had like a school melee club
but then _RED_ moved away
everybody else was kinda glad that he moved because they had the impression that he was a school shooter, but I don't really understand why they thought he was a school shooter
anyways, I was really sad when he moved away and when he moved away I pretty much lost all interest in Melee
because the only kids that still play at the school melee club are people that are simply not fun to play with
like they actually hate the game and don't want to be good at it and want to be bad
I'm not someone who likes to toot my own horn
but like if we are being real, I know more about the game than all of them combined
like fuckin we'll be on dreamland 64
and they'll be complaining about the fuckin tree while they are trying to recover
"OH I SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING, USING THE TREE TO KEEP ME FROM GETTING BACK ON STAGE"
and so I'll calmly state "the tree has no effect off stage"
and they'll fuckin be like "NO _INSERTPROTAGONISTHERE_! WE'VE ALREADY PROVED THIS!"
and I'll be like "no we haven't, anyone who has played this game for more than a week should know that the tree has no effect off stage"
or like fuckin this kid will be trying to recover with captain falcon
and he will be in the upper right corner
and he'll falcon kick and then up b
and I'll be like "yo, what you want to do is jump, falcon kick, then jump and use your up b"
and this kid will be like "IT'S JUST HIS PLAY STYLE, LET HIM PLAY THE WAY HE WANTS TO PLAY"
or this kid _BLUE_ will be in marth dittos with this kid _GREEN_
and _GREEN_ will be doing forward throw to forward throw to forward throw to forward throw to forward throw ad infinitum
and _BLUE_ is getting fucking pissed "STOP DOING THAT"
and I'll be like "_BLUE_, if you want to get out of that, hold a direction on the control stick. it doesn't matter what direction, he can't grab you if your control stick is anywhere but the center"
and they'll be like "JUST LET ME PLAY THE WAY I WANNA PLAY! DON'T TRY TO CONTROL ME"
or like he'll be using marth, and then approach and use side b
and then he'll get punished and get hit by the ZTD
and I'll be like "ok that's not a good option, do like short hop forward air"
or he'll be playing captain falcon and he'll do full hop dair over and over and over again
so I'll tell him "don't do full hop dair 15 times in a row if you don't want to get juggled"
or like he'll recover in exactly the same way every single time then get pissed when he gets edgeguarded by puff
so I'll tell him "ok just up B early and then _GREEN_ can't hit you"
"if you do anything but what you just did he won't be able to hit you and you'll get back on stage"
and they'll be like "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO"
anyways, when _RED_ was there he'd kind of like have my back and stuff
and so we could kinda try to get good together
and we could like have fun when we play
but now that he's gone, the only people I have to play with are those kids
and quite simply they are no fun to play with at all
either:
A: killing them is completely free and there is no challenge whatsoever and it isn't fun to play against them
like it's not fun to not be able to try to edge guard them because they aren't recovering properly
or have basically every game be a 4 stock
and if I try to help them they yell at me
or B: they play low tiers and use matchup inexperience/jank as their only way to win
that's _GREEN_'s thing
he'll pick a character like link and spam up b
which works at first and he feels like an undefeatable god
and makes sure to rub it in everyone else's face that he's an undefeatable god and that everyone else sucks at the game
and as soon as you figure out how to counter his strategy
like using shine or down tilt or something
if you do so much as mention the fact that you won the match, he'll fucking get so fucking triggered
like "DUDE YOU DON'T NEED TO RUB IN THAT YOU WON, JUST PLAY THE GAME"
or like if you get an insane combo, if you do so much as say "oh did you see that?" he'll be like "dude just play the game, you don't need to announce your victory
or if you get a cool ztd or something he'll be like "it's just a stock"
he does anything to diminish everyone else's achievements while also rubbing in his own
yeah I did stop playing
I stopped like 3 or 4 months ago
these kids are 13-17
oh don't even get me started on pro players
if I do so much as mention a players name
like "oh mew2king is probably my favorite player"
or "oh did you see that ken combo"
or "i've been trying to learn how to hax dash"
or anything
they'll be fuckin like "I DON'T DO IDOL WORSHIP"
AGAIN, IDOL WORSHIP
but yeah after _RED_ left, I basically had no enjoyment playing at my schools melee club anymore
after about 3 or 4 months I decided that playing with them wasn't worth my time
also I was the kid supplying the shit
like I was hunting down the CRTs
bringing my consoles and controllers and game
and so once I left the club died
yeah part of me is considering getting involved in tournaments
yeah honestly hanging out in the _insertNewGameHere_ community has been pretty great
I like hanging with people who have a similar level of interest in the game
and like actually care about it and want to be better and stuff
I'm hoping that at college I can find people who have a similar interest in melee and start playing it regularly again
right now I basically just beat the shit out of level 1 cpus and that's it
