  69. Backstory.
  70. Wilos was once an average Duke. He was an nice guy who learned military strategy from his father and leadership skills from his mother. He had a nice solid life planned out where he would lead a battalion due to his parents' influence, rise through the ranks, and live up to the greatness his title claimed he had. When his parents died, he would reign over his Trition Kingdom. No one would oppose him because he had justly earned his position. Having the military in his pocket also helped. But with a few sweeps of events, everything changed. It was a training lesson for the young Wilos. He was taught that Sahuagin were the enemy and his father would demonstrate on a live captured spy where their weak points were and which ones were the most powerful. Unfortunately, the spy had a plan to slip himself a poison rather than stay in the cell. Using magics the nobles didn't know spies could posses, he changed his plan. He forced the suicide poison down Wilos' father's throat before anyone could react. He was dead before they got him out of the room. It was that day that things started to change. Wilos became gradually more cold and distant, eventually taking up a battalion. He gained a reputation as a merciless commander. Many years later, Wilos was called upon by his mother to take part in an ambassador mission to settle a trading post in a war torn country. The country hoped to receive manpower and wealth through an alliance with the Trition Kingdoms. A few terrorists slipped into the crowd who greeted the two and managed to cause a mass panic that forced the Triton Ambassadors to retreat. Wilos's mother was stabbed. No Cleric Wilos could find on land was able to heal her and by the time they got back to their homeland it was too late for the one cleric they could find to even determine if he could have done anything. His hatred for land-dwellers began that day. His one visit to meet people on the surface world resulted in the death of his mother. He vowed to slaughter them and came up with the plan of overthrowing the government and letting the lower population generate into chaos. Then use the new government to eliminate all he radicals and criminals, which would coincidently be every landweller. It was the least he could do to avenge his mother. The world has taken too much, so we would take back. A injury while fighting alongside his battalion forced him into his room where he came up with the idea to overthrow the government. Wilos used to be a fairly religious man, not at all a zealot, but he used to attend the required religious events. He has seen magic before, but currently denounces it. No magic or deities healed his dying mother, so they obviously are not real enough to truly exist. Otherwise it would have been a simple storybook case and his mother would have been healed. The Wizard Spellbooks he found were simply scientific texts to him, telling how to unlock the bodies energy in new ways and to manipulate atoms and particles people previously never knew about. Anything not explained by this way simply legends created by an uneducated people. And thus, he learned how to use this "science" to aid him in combat. He denounces Clerics as frauds. When he healed from his injury he was a seemingly more cheerful, caring person and scheduled a diplomatic mission to repair burned bridges with the landwellers. All this was really a facade to his plans. Who would suspect the seemingly cheerful archduke of planning justified mass genocide.
