Scorched Earth

The expedition finally caught a break when those massive footprint's were discovered at the edges of the dry river bed. Leading far into a stretch of barren land. But that did not stop the team's determination. If an elder still lived we had to find it! So the group pushed on...

The river bed turned to rust colored clay. A land of scorched earth. The heat felt unbearable as a bright burning sun caused us to shield our eyes, squint, and pant from the heat. The team's poor foot pads screamed from the burning red sands. Stumbling on...we thought we might not make it any further. Tongues parched from the dry environment. Water canteen's long used up. If only we could find some water before it was too late.
