When Lancelot was close enough for him to strike, he glared at him and Lancelot glared back. Then Lancelot removed his shield from around his neck, took it in his right hand and the axe in his left, then, taking aim, he threw the shield at him as straight as he could and hit him right on the noseguard. As soon as he had thrown the shield and had seen him covered with blood, he threw the axe at him; it went through the noseguard into his face and sent him sprawling onto the ground.
