  1. Compare and Contrast
  2.
  3. A local library has asked community members to draft proposals suggesting ideas for a future fundraiser. Two initial proposals were chosen from a broad cross-section number, to be compared on the grounds of which is the most feasible, makes the most sense, would attract the most people, and ultimately raise the most money towards a good cause.
  4.
  5. The first proposal has suggested that the library holds a book fair where titles go on sale, and community members can likewise donate old books they no longer read towards the fair. In the idea, the suggestion states that a book fair would not only be a good way to get people involved but would be a good way to get the entire community involved because the type of fundraiser would appeal to all demographics. The idea also states that it would be a good way to retain members and register more people or library cards, as there could be a designated table at the library fair where people can sign up for a card if they happen not to find a book they liked.
  6.
  7. The second fundraiser proposal which is being highly considered is a library car wash. This would be held in the library’s parking lot where students and community members can volunteer to wash cars while raising money for a good cause. This would be a good way to attract people to the fundraiser who may not be interested in reading or scholastics, and rather can just get their vehicle washed sparkly clean.
  8.
  9. Comparing both fundraising proposals, each one certainly has potential to not only get the community involved but also truly raise money for the fundraiser – the apparent goal of the entire arrangement. Each proposal is a classic fundraising idea – a book fair and a car wash. Each proposal would also most likely generate revenue. The question then becomes, which of the proposal makes more sense for a library and a library’s demographic? This would, of course, have to be the book fair. Although a car wash is a very good idea, it just does not seem logical or efficient for a library fundraiser. A car wash would also require a lot more volunteers.
  10.
  11. Also, on the other hand, a book fair also benefits the library because it gives them a chance to retain interest and gain new members, while also selling books and raising money. A book fair also allows community members to donate their books when on the other side of the spectrum, the car wash provides no opportunity to contribute other than paying to have your car washed. With all things considered, a book fair would be the most feasible choice for a library fundraiser, and would also appeal to members of the community more while being likely to raise the most money.
