  1. I was very addicted to video games. It started once I bought my first computer. I would spend most of my day in front of my computers playing online games with my friends. At the start, I denied my addiction and always thought that I was in control of all of my actions. This made the issue much more serious. I became less sociable, started spending multiple days stuck in my room playing video games and I would sometimes play an extra 3 hours instead of sleeping for a healthy amount of time. My grades took a huge hit and I was so close to failing. My family and friends noticed this change in behavior and advised me to quit video games for good. Of course, this wasn't an easy task. One time, when I went back home from school, I noticed that my computer and router disappeared. I felt so angry and tried searching everywhere but didn't find anything. I asked and learned that my father had sold the router and sealed the computer away after receiving a notice from my school about my grades and behaviour. We fought and I said I was able quit this habit without him intervening but he didn't believe me. I was then without a computer for over half a year. During these 6 months, I started meeting with more interesting people and joined a few local clubs but I always kept thinking that I have to make enough money to buy a new computer and start playing video games again. I searched and learned about freelancing and I thought of having a part-time job while studying. This made me discover my passion for digital art and entpreneurship so I taught myself Graphic Design and watched a few business management and marketing courses. I didn't have internet access in my house so I would spend hours in coffee shops using their Wi-Fi to learn more. After a few months, I was able to get back my laptop. He agreed but I wasn't allowed to use the Internet. I used the laptop mainly to practice everything I learned in Graphic Design. I built my first portfolio and applied for a few online jobs. After lots of tries, I got my first client and it was a 45$ gig. This was the first money I made and the joy of seeing my hard work rewarding me made me want to learn even more. I even started thinking about what would I have been if I didn't waste all of my time playing online games. In just 6 months, I changed a lot and was able to become financially independent. I was even able to start my first business using the money I made from freelancing. It was a drop shipping store for both digital and physical products that people in my country aren't able to acquire due to restrictions. I was also able to upgrade my equipment and to pay the Internet bill myself. My grades started improving as well.

  3. Overall, I learned that time is the most valuable asset an individual can have and investing it properly is a must. This experience also showed me how far can self learning push me and made me passionate about the pursuit of knowledge. Finally, freelancing showed me how productive I can be and encouraged me to find more ways to be financially independent. That's where my passion for entrepreneurship started.
