  1. [13:26] WELL!
  2.
  3. After a lovely, and totally not grueling walk towards his home, Valero would find himself in the presence of Thalis, and his older-younger brother Revan.
  4.
  5. If one were to glance at him, they'd probably notice... That well, his body, and his face is covered in blood. Most of it his, well, not most of it.
  6.
  7. All of it was his.
  8.
  9. OH! Can't forget about this part. His right eye? Gone.
  10.
  11. You hate to see it-
  12.
  13. Too soon...
  14.
  15. "Morning." A wave would follow his quiet statement before his legs gave out on him, as he came crashing down onto the snow.
  16. (Valero Task)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [13:29] Bernadette Avitus exclaims, "Heya!"
  20. [13:30] Bernadette Avitus says, "....."
  21. [13:31] With a slow nod of his head he'd smile, "Course Revan. I'm 'ere t' assist 'owe'er I can. Soon 'nuff I'll be doin' some real dumb shit...- But tha's th' fun o' life." Thalis chuckled lightly.
  22.
  23. More snow crunches upon the western side - Lupine ears lifting briefly as his gaze turns towards that direction... Pausing as a frown briefly graces those neutral features of his.
  24.
  25. "'ey there Valero-- Th' fuck 'appened t' y'?" With a light click of his tongue he'd eye the particularly bloody socket... His gaze narrowing as he continued, "Who th' 'el'd y' get int' a scrap with?"
  26.
  27. Upon his wife's arrival he'd flash a smile towards her. "'ey love... 'ope y' slept well-- Seems a youn'in' might need yer 'elp if yer up t' it."
  28. (Thalis Avitus)
  29. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  30.
  31. [13:34] Bernadette looks at Valero with a horrified expression at the sight of his untreated eyesocket.
  32.
  33. "AH! WHAT HAPPENED?" She flailed her arms around in a bit of a panic. Such a young boy, getting an EYE ripped away? What in the world was coming of the earth?
  34.
  35. "Thalis-" Her honey hues drift to Thalis.
  36.
  37. "Do we have any kits?"
  38. (Bernadette Avitus)
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  40.
  41. [13:35] Revan would bow his head to his mentor, forever grateful for everything he did for him. Though the warm sensation would be short lived as his YOUNGER brother Valero showed up, looking more a mess than usual.
  42.
  43. ".. Dammit Valero, what have you gone and done now." He would immediately step over to inspect the damages- and luckily, Mrs. Avitus was here as well, already on the job! He would take a step back to give her the space she needed to work, though he would study her closely.
  44.
  45. "Brother, who did this to you?" There was concern in his voice, replacing the condescending tone he would normally direct at the redhead. The bandages wrapping his jaw would sway as he would grind his teeth angrily.
  46. (Revan Task)
  47. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  48.
  49. [13:38] Believe it or not, Valero didn't really have the energy to speak. Nor did he actually have the energy to do... Anything.
  50.
  51. He had pushed his body far past it's limit during his fight, and it was screaming out in agony right now. Well, that's not the only reason it was. The whole, missing eye thing was certainly helping.
  52.
  53. Plus, walking up to Theria in his current state probably wasn't his brightest idea.
  54.
  55. Oh well.
  56.
  57. The only thing he could do, was close his one good eye, as he felt his consciousness slowly slipping away. Of course, he was still breathing, so the threat of him losing his life wasn't there.
  58.
  59. He was just really, really tired.
  60.
  61. Which considering what he just went through? Seemed pretty reasonable.
  62. (Valero Task)
  63. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [13:41] "I'll go check th' chests real quick- Now's a better time than e'er t' begin lessons, I 'spose?" Thalis's gaze drifts between Bo and Revan. Yet again was the Task getting aided by the Avitus - How good.
  66.
  67. "Move 'im inside o' somethin'-- I still 'ave a key t' th' Task manor if y' all decide t' 'ead in there. I'll jus' be one moment."
  68.
  69. Without much else to add he'd begin trudging his way through the snow and into their home. There was bound to be something in their chests - Right? he swore he saw a kit somewhere...
  70. (Thalis Avitus)
  71. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  72.
  73. [13:42] Bernadette guides Valero inside.
  74. (Bernadette Avitus)
  75. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  76.
  77. [13:43] Revan would pick his little brother up in his arms and carry him inside, following his new instructor. It was time to sleep, little Val.
  78. (Revan Task)
  79. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  80.
  81. [13:49] Bernadette would aide in getting Valero into one of the free beds in the Avitus's home. She'd grabbed her medical supplies on the way up toward the room, along with a rag that was currently behind held over his eye socket to keep the mess of the blood at a minimal...Blood was hard to get out of carpets.
  82.
  83. She'd begin to lay out her supplies on the cleared nightstand next to the bed. Everything she would need to clear and sear the socket...Along with the crystal that would be needed to replace his right eye...That had been entirely removed from his face.
  84.
  85. Her honey hues lift toward Revan.
  86.
  87. "I hope you're ready for quite the lesson! Sit, watch closely. Take notes of the steps, the process."
  88.
  89. Bernadette had never actually been a medical teacher just yet- so this would be her first lesson! Shame it was such a personal thing for her student!
  90. (Bernadette Avitus)
  91. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  92.
  93. [13:53] Following closely behind, he had only seen the first room of the Avitus' home, though he didn't expect to see this many beds. With a chalk board to complete the look of a room dedicated to the study of medicine, he would set his younger brother in the vacant bed that Bernadetta would point out to him.
  94.
  95. Nodding as he was told to observe and take notes, he would take a step back and analyze the medical kit she had brought with her. First, he would reach for the inkwell and pen he kept on his person, dipping the quill and beginning to takes notes on what he saw the kit consist of.
  96.
  97. One his list was thoroughly put together with the tools of the trade he would need, he would begin to watch the Ookami medic begin her work.
  98. (Revan Task)
  99. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  100.
  101. [13:56] From the cold snow, to a nice warm bed.
  102.
  103. Not that he really noticed. His consciousness had long since faded away. He was simply laying on the bed, unmoving. Well, save for the slight motions that come when one breathes.
  104.
  105. Though it does seem like some good is coming out of his injury. Someone seems to be getting a medical lesson.
  106.
  107. Which is neat.
  108. (Valero Task)
  109. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  110.
  111. [14:05] "What magics do you possess?" The question is directed toward Revan, purely for the lessons needs. Uncovering the eye socket of the young Valero, she would frown. It looked as if someone had quite literally just yanked it out from his face. The nerves were ripped, and it would take a lot to repair such an injury. Who knows if he would be able to see out of his mechanical eye after this?
  112.
  113. Lifting a small hand to the boys socket, water would begin to seep from beneath her fingernails. Going into the socket, she would begin to clean the area of debris. Honey hues never leaving the task at hand, but she'd speak to her student.
  114.
  115. "First step is making your patient comfortable. Have them sit or lay somewhere. Second step is to clean the wound thoroughly. If you don't, it could cause an infection behind the new eye. Which would be cause to do the entire procedure over, with less of a success rate."
  116.
  117. She would explain instructively, as the bloody water is taken from the eye and put into a basin that was placed on the table. Quickly, Bernadette uses her blood magic to stop his bleeding. Allowing her own blood to meet with his own, and form a clot so she could focus more appropriately.
  118. (Bernadette Avitus)
  119. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  120.
  121. [14:14] He would look up from the bandaged wrapped arm where he would be taking his notes, as he often did. He wouldn't bother hesitating to give his answer. ".. Not much, I admit.. I am a pugilist.. like my Father, and Mr. Avitus.. I've been using my mana to augment my musculature and using the raw energy to interrupt my opponent's circuitry."
  122.
  123. It truly wasn't much to work with as far as magics that could aid in the medical process. Like everything else in his life, Revan knew he would have to work harder than everyone else to be successful in such a field. However, non-magi were capable of being doctors, so there was nothing holding the young Task back.
  124.
  125. Leaning in as she inspected the empty socket, he would note the stringy muscles that shown the brutality of how the eye was removed. ".. Are.. Those the muscles that let you move your eye?" He would ask, beginning to draw a crude diagram.
  126.
  127. He would nod along as she gave him the basics of medical care, make the patient comfortable, sanitize the area. It all fell in line with what he knew from treating his own cuts and bruises- though this was so much more.
  128.
  129. He would note her technique for washing out the socket, and flushing it before stopping the bleeding. "How.. would I stop someone from bleeding with.. The use of magic?"
  130. (Revan Task)
  131. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  132.
  133. [14:19] So, while the other were operating on him, what was Valero up to? The answer was...! Dreaming.
  134.
  135. He was reliving his failure.
  136.
  137. His reckless fight again Mihalis, that resulted in the loss of his eyes. The way he gave in to that occult madness, losing who he was in the process.
  138.
  139. It wasn't a pleasant dream, but at least he wasn't conscious for the surgery.
  140. (Valero Task)
  141. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  142.
  143. [14:29] "Well that's alright. You don't need magic to be a doctor, it will just be a little harder is all!" She'd state, confirming what he was already thinking. She'd examine the stringiness Revan was referring to, and she'd nod her head slowly. "Yes, and we have to be careful not to injure them further. We can remedy the ends of the muscles, and connect them to his new eye. That way he will have movement...Though the ocular nerves...We will just have to see how that plays out. The implant will be able to send signal to his brain and allow him to see....If the nerves aren't damaged entirely.."
  144.
  145. It was up in the air for now, and ultimately, it would be up to Valero OOCly if he wanted to be able to see from his new eyeball.
  146.
  147. "As for stopping bleeding, that is the easy task. Mana often runs hot, and if you allow it to surge hot enough, you could clot the wound. However, having a fire and a metal pin would work as well in a time like this. Heat it under a fire, and sear the ends of everything shut."
  148.
  149. Informative, surely Revan would take a lot of information from that alone. Now? Bernadette would make her way onto the next step. Picking up a small tube, she would open it. Inside was Lax Essence. It would numb his pain entirely as she worked, taking a medical took to grasp those small strands..
  150.
  151. Taking the crystal eye, she would begin to attach the nerves into the small holes in the back of the eye. It was a very slow, and careful procedure. One wrong move? The eye would be irreparable.
  152.
  153. "Now we just take the nerves strands, attach them very carefully to avoid further damage...Done force the ends in, but allow them to glide...Once this process is finished, we move to the muscles."
  154. (Bernadette Avitus)
  155. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  156.
  157. [14:39] Continuing to take notes as he listened to his Teacher closely, his own eyes would focus on where his brother was missing his own. Use as much of the original body as possible.. Prosthetics attach directly to what is left..
  158.
  159. Though at the mention of the ocular nerve being trickier, he would nod, writing what she said almost verbatim how the prosthetic would ordinarily send the images directly to the brain.
  160.
  161. Bo's information of Mana running hot would be a great boon to his practices, it wasn't quite like fire, though perhaps he could use it as a substitute, heating up metal objects to do the work for him. She was certainly a wealth of information, though given she had been doing this for awhile, it was to be expected.
  162.
  163. He was ever so thankful for the Avitus family, and he wished he could express it, though now was not the time during his brother's surgery. He would note the use of lax essence, something he was familiar with as Hades was an alchemist.
  164.
  165. He would underline one important note she tried to stress upon him, a delicate touch goes a long way.
  166. (Revan Task)
  167. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  168.
  169. [14:44] Throughout everything that was transpiring to his unconscious body, Valero remained.. Unconscious. A clear result of the strain he had put on his body, as well as the sheer amount of damage inflicted by the man who assaulted him.
  170.
  171. So, even as Bo got to work attaching the prosthetic towards his nerves. It was a delicate process, that much couldn't be argued. Yet, Bo seemed like a more than capable doctor.
  172.
  173. So at least he was in very good hands.
  174.
  175. Yes, yes.
  176.
  177. Plus, a bit of rest would do the task a world of good. Most days, he didn't really sleep.
  178.
  179. Weird.
  180. (Valero Task)
  181. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  182.
  183. [14:50] With no more questions asked, Bernadette would complete the task of attaching Valero's optical nerves back into his prosthetic eye. If he did have sight- it wouldn't be the same as actual sight. It would be a little less sharp, but at least he would be able to use it in battle.
  184.
  185. Next was the muscles, which would allow the eye to move in all sorts of directions. The muscles weren't as finicky, but the process was still long. This was technically an operation, after all.
  186.
  187. Eventually, the process would be entirely complete. New eye attached, she'd watch Valero's sleeping form with a sigh.
  188.
  189. "Now we wait for him to wake up, and test the maneuverability of his new prosthetic."
  190. (Bernadette Avitus)
  191. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  192.
  193. [14:55] Observing the finesse used to attack the Optic Nerve, and the ease she was able to attach the muscles to the sphere- it would still take some time. Atleast he would be able to witness it several times and get a firm idea of how to put in the implanted eye.
  194.
  195. "I see.. It's a thorough process you do.. But I suppose that is the work of a Doctor.. You can not leave until the job is seen through to the end.. And it doesn't end until your patient is whole again." He would look over his brother's slumbering body.
  196.
  197. What has this idiot done..
  198.
  199. "Or.. As whole as you can make them.."
  200. (Revan Task)
  201. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  202.
  203. [14:59] Almost as if on queue, the moment the surgery was finished, Valero woke up! Well, kinda. It was technically a few moments after it was done, nor was it an immediate process. A crystal eyes, and a regular eye would slowly open up.
  204.
  205. One eye could see rather well, while the other remained... Rather unfocused.
  206.
  207. Oh well! More than likely he'd cover it up with an eyepatch later, so it's fine.
  208.
  209. Still rather groggy, his gaze shifts from Revan, to Bo, before a brief nod follows. Sadly, no words would follow, instead he'd immediately collapse back down onto the bed, eyes shut, as he once more drifted to being asleep!
  210.
  211. Can you blame 'em though? He went through a rather hectic situation.
  212.
  213. Poor kid.
  214. (Valero Task)
  215. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  216.
  217. [15:00] Bernadette Avitus says, "Looks to be sufficient."
  218. [15:00] Bernadette Avitus says, "He can crash here for now, until he feels better."
  219. [15:00] Thalis Avitus says, "... Wonder wha' th' 'el 'appened."
  220. [15:01] Bernadette Avitus says, "Me too..."
  221. [15:01] Revan Task says, "So it seems.. I am sorry for the inconvenience"
  222. [15:01] Bernadette Avitus says, "Whoever did that...Just...Ripped it completely."
  223. [15:01] Bernadette Avitus says, "Oh, no. No need to apologize. It's my job."
  224. [15:01] Revan Task says, "We will get answers when he awakens.. And we will make them pay."
  225. [15:02] Bernadette shrugs.
  226. (Bernadette Avitus)
  227. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  228.
  229. [15:02] Revan Task says, "I.. Thank you for the lesson, and healing my brother.."
  230. [15:02] Bernadette Avitus says, "You're welcome."
  231. [15:02] Revan Task says, "I really cannot express how indebted I am to you."
  232. [15:02] Bernadette smiles.
  233. (Bernadette Avitus)
  234. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  235.
  236. [15:02] Bernadette Avitus says, "Just...Repay me by..."
  237. [15:03] Bernadette Avitus says, "Being a pain in the ass for Thalis."
  238. [15:03] Bernadette smirks.
  239. (Bernadette Avitus)
