- mods = cheats and pistols are useful
- This list is a compilation of mods a majority of our Bhutanese crop-circle imageboard can collectively recommend during the few moments we actually decide to talk about XCOM, and an attempt at simplifying finding older mods in spite of the Steam Workshop's terrible UI. It'll be updated when I'm not working and something good comes out. If you would like to recommend a mod that hasn't made the cut, just yell about it in the general - it'll be added if people agree with you. If a mod does something well and isn't in, it's possible we left it out because it has glaring compatibility issues with a lot of other stuff that are in.
- I made a MEGA mod library that should contain all mods from here - do note that some stuff may be a little bit outdated, though I try to put in newer versions when modders make significant changes for the better. It's large, so it can be a bit confusing - for that reason I've formatted the folder structure identically to this pastebin's categories:
- NOTE: This Pastebin got a pretty huge update August 26 - a lot of the stuff added then isn't in yet. I'll get around to it soon, pinky swear. Yell if you need something specific.
- There's also a Steam workshop collection containing all of the mods which can be found on Steam, meaning all but five.
- Finally, and this here's the really important part: use the Alternative Mod Launcher, downloadable at this link:
- Its features include:
- - Skipping the god-awful vanilla xcom launcher
- - Sorting mods into categories (Mod creators can set a default group in their .XComMod file. 0% of modders do it, but hey.)
- - Basic compability checks (Lets you know when class overrides conflict, which is important)
- - Basic steam support (Checking Workshop description and unsubscribing, mainly)
- - Deleting needless files to reduce memory footprint (Don't do this unless you know what you're doing though)
- - Cleaning old ModOverride entries from XComEngine.ini (not sure if still necessary)
- - Setting launch arguments such as -AllowConsole or -NoRedscreens more smoothly than through Steam
- It requires a legit copy, a 64bit Windows OS and Windows .NET framework 4.6.

- - FAQ -
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Q: Where the fuck have you been? You said you were going to update this regularly but it's been untouched for months.
- A: Medical issues. I'm here to stay now though.
- Q: This list is REALLY long. How do I find anything?
- A: We noticed that too, it's one of the drawbacks of how modular XCOM2's modding scene has turned out. To simplify reading through it it's sorted in categories. Just pick your poison and CTRL+F the one you think you'll find what you want in, or scroll through the whole of it if you have a minute and want a lot of mod recommendations.
- Q: I'm a new player. Are any mods good for a first playthrough?
- A: We'd say everything in Fixes, Quality of Life, and UI Tweaks are great for a first playthrough. They're the top three categories. Probably armor and misc. customization too - they just give you more freedom in how your troopers look. Ask in the thread if anything is confusing, some guy will tell you to fuck off but we're generally pretty easy-going and helpful.
- Q: How do I install a mod manually?
- A: After downloading from MEGA/Nexus/Limewire extract the .zip file. You'll get a single folder named [Mod Name]. Keep track of that. Go into your steam "common" install directory and find the XCOM2 folder. If you're a chronic amnesiac who forgot where you put it, right click XCOM2 in your steam library, enter properties and press the tab Local Files, then "Browse local files". Once you're there, open the folder [Directory]/XCOM2/XcomGame. Create a "mods" folder here ([Directory]/XCOM2/XcomGame/Mods) if it isn't there already, then slap the mod folder in it. Simple as that. Do not extract the loose files into it mind you, the entire mod folder goes in there.
- Also remember to actually activate it in your mod launcher of choice, you git.
- Q: Are all these mods REALLY compatible?
- A: Yes, we've actually tested them in conjunction. One or two exceptions but both are explained, so there won't be any problems if you're literate. Even if you're not those don't cause anything bad to happen together, one just takes precedence. While there's no incompatibilities in the sense that mods don't work well together, there is always the issue of memory bloat when you start going overboard - anything above 200 and your performance and/or stability will start to suffer. Stay below the 150 mark if you can.
- Q: Not all mods in this list have Nexus links, why?
- A: Because a considerable percentage of all mods are Workshop-only. If we haven't put a Nexus link next to something it's because there isn't one.
- Q: Could anyone upload this mod to Mega?
- A: I don't know, ask in the thread. Maybe somebody'll take pity. Maybe they'll tell you to fuck off. I did make a MEGA library which should contain every mod in this list. It's linked in the OP.
- Q: Why is half of everything workshop only? I can't use it because of a reason!
- A: It's just something that's been happening organically, with Nexus pages getting relatively little attention. I'd advise buying the game; not only is it pretty good, there's a continuing trend of modders migrating to Workshop and it ain't stopping. Soon you'll be hard pressed to find any mods for your copy, not to mention some mods will fall out of date and cause incompatibilities.
- Q: I didn't say I'm a pirate though, what if I just don't like Workshop?
- A: You're either lying or you need to grow up, it ain't that bad. You want a mod on the Workshop just grab it from there. I agree it has a lot of dumb stuff - namely deleting mods from your computer if the author takes it down - but it also updates automatically which is a blessing compared to Nexus and its siblings. You'll want mods to auto-update when DLCs drop, or you'll have to manually update all of them for compatibility yourself.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 1) - FIXES -
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- All of these mods are either bugfixes or utility fixes that in no way affect gameplay in a direction away from intended balance. Unless otherwise specified, any player should use them.
- 1. Patrol When Revealed - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=622778878
- Fixes a common bug where enemy pods spotted from concealment would stop their patrol and stay put for the rest of the mission.
- 2. Max Squad Size Fix - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=619112580 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/71/?
- Fixes some weird UI behavior when modding squadsize. Note that it doesn't increase squadsize on its own, read its description for info on doing that. Do not use this if you do not fiddle with squadsize.
- 3. Suppression animation fix for Rifles - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=663828094
- Fixes a visualization bug where soldiers suppressing with a vanilla rifle just stand there looking dumb. It now properly plays suppression animation.
- 4. Larger spawn points - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=637375137
- This mod allows you to edit squadsize and alien pod size above 9 without the game shitting itself and spawning you next to the objective along with all enemies on the map. Do not use this if you don't fiddle with squadsize.
- IMPORTANT: This mod is a highlander mod. This means it is incompatible with any other highlander mod. Mod authors usually specify this if they are, but it's still good to know that if two mods act strange together this could be causing it. There are no other such mods in this list at this time.
- 5. 30 Ability Icons - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=694455263
- Removes a hardcoded UI limit on fifteen combat abilities per trooper and raises it to 30. Good to have when you install mods like LoS preview and Overwatch All, both adding utility through combat abilities. Not necessary if you use Long War Perk Pack, it comes with its own workaround.
- 6. THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT! Unbind Missing Mods - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641394554
- Unbinds any mod not currently in your load order from any given save. Virtually essential if you ever have to uninstall mods mid-save.
- 7. Flamethrower Panic Fix - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641475667
- Makes flamethrowers work as intended and cause a panic roll on hit.
- 8. Cinematic Rapid Fire - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=644426703
- Fixes Rapid Fire and Chain Shot to look less stupid, even after the March 5th patch.
- 9. Suppression Visualization Fix - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648838706 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/513/?
- Different from rifle suppression visualization fix. Actually makes any weapon who don't have a suppress animation (notably all custom weapons barring very well made ones) play the fire animation on target continuously instead of standing there looking dumb.
- 10. AWC Cost Fix - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=662068623
- Arguably a balance change rather than a fix, but it's in this section for now. Some AWC skills such as Serial or Deadeye are hardcoded to take two actions even when used on weapons that generally only take one, and conversely many AWC skills like Chain Shot and Rapid Fire have been known to be usable after moving by Snipers. This fixes that by making the ability action point cost correspond to equipped weapon rather than be set in stone by the perk.
- 11. Insanity Mind Control Duration Fix - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=682744588
- Insanity's Mind Control lasts for a remarkably short time when your own Psi-Ops do it - half as long as Sectoid Mindspin mind-controls do, actually. This is not intended behavior - this mod reverts it so your troops are on equal footing with the lanky nudists.
- 12. Turrets Are Cover - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=731607867&searchtext=
- Why wasn't this a feature™. Does what it says on the tin.
- 13. Blademaster Throwing Axe Fix - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=711368513
- In vanilla, Blademaster does not apply to throwing axes. Obviously this is pretty dumb. This mod fixes it.
- 14. Fixed Facility Pips - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=807973360
- Jake has a proud tradition of breaking his game whenever he tries to fix it. He's kept it up by fudging facilities displaying their individual AVATAR project progress on the campaign map. Robojumper to the rescue.
- 15. No Rank Up Limit - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=785522241
- In vanilla, a soldier can never rank up more than once during a single mission. Generally speaking that'll never be an issue because soldiers don't rank up twice in a mission - however, if you're running a custom balance with 200 aliens per mission it becomes a bit more probable. This mod fixes that by letting a soldier rank up more times.
- 16. SPARKs T-pose Fix - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=780277856
- Does what it says on the tin. Robojumper fixes Jake's game yet again.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 2) - UI TWEAKS -
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- Most of these mods just improve how quickly and smoothly the game relays information to you, and some show important things you had no way of seeing before unless you knew it by heart. Recommended for everyone.
- 1. Free Camera Rotation - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=616359783 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/1/?
- The definitive camera mod. Improves camera turning, allows you to use freecam, zoom in and out, adds hotkeys for resetting to default camera and so on and so forth. Highly customizable in its .ini too.
- 2. Show Health Values - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=617015579 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/150/?
- SHW adds a little number to the right of enemy HP bars showing how much health they have. Thought by some to be simplistic and ugly. Do not use with NHD, dummy.
- 3. Numeric Health Display - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621376448
- NHD revamps alien health displays, adding huge numbers which replace enemy HP bar. These show armor, health and shielding. Thought by some to be intrusive and clutter the screen. Do not use with SHW, dummy.
- 4. Gotcha (Flank Preview Evolved) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=629910798 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/453/?
- You know the tiny red LoS indicator to the right of the enemy HP bar? This mod makes it shine yellow on a potential flank, and adds squadsight LoS previews. Should be vanilla.
- 5. Longer Names V2 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=715700207
- Raises the arbitrary limit on name length by a ton. Updated recently, old version was no longer supported and causing instability on some systems.
- 6. Show All Perks - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624408502
- This mod stops the game from graying out all the perks your soldiers can choose in soldier ability screen, allowing you to see the entire perk tree. Works with custom classes.
- 7. Upgrade Reminder - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624726628 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/220/?
- Lets you know if any of your troopers are eligible for a weapon/PCS upgrade you have in your armory during squad selection screen.
- 8. Clean Cinematic - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=629028571 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/334/?
- Prohibits non-essential messages from appearing during glam-cams, appearing afterwards instead. Notably stops the "Soldier has been promoted!" spoiler as to how your overwatch trap went. Looks neat.
- 9. Mission Time Remaining - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626589171 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/291/?
- This mod lets you know how much time stuff on the geoscape (scanning locations, missions etc.) have left before they expire. So useful that you forget it isn't vanilla. Allows you to push timers like it's Beta 15.
- 10. ShowMeTheSkills - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=727367694
- In vanilla, there's no way to see your soldiers perks and stats in the selection screen without looking at each one individually. This mod adresses that with a nifty little display. UPDATED VERSION FOR SLG.
- 11. Show Enemies on Mission Planning - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=635257372 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/478/?
- Allows you to see number and type of aliens on the mission in squad selection screen once you get Shadow Chamber, eliminating the tedium of having to go back to Geoscape to check all the time. Essential.
- 12. ShowMeThePersonel - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=638033313 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/462/?
- Adds a new panel when you hover on a soldier in the Armory, allowing you to see Stats, Perks and XP without looking at each soldier individually.
- 13. Cost Based Ability Colors - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=651306416 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/544/?
- This mod gives all soldier ability icons in the tactical layer a coloured outline indicating how many actions they will consume. Yellow means they take both, blue means they take one and green means they're free actions. Works with modded abilities. This is for those of you who forget to properly utilize single-action abilities like Aid Protocol during firefights.
- 14. Lifetime Stats - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=634754304 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/416/?
- Interesting mod that lets you disconfirm your confirmation bias by checking the lifetime stats/luck of any given soldier.
- 15. Blackmarket Usage - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648410303
- Tiny mod which adds little indicators in the blackmarket as to which corpses you need for what research and how many. Useful for chronic amnesiacs.
- 16. Tactical UI KillCounter - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=749138678
- Little number which tells you how many aliens you've whacked so far. Does what it says on the tin, unintrusive and to-the-point.
- 17. Better Debug Camera - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=803411007
- When console versions dropped Jake announced the Debug Camera and there was much rejoicing. Then he said you needed a controller to use it and /xcg/ almost unanimously said fuck it. Fast forward a few weeks and this mod dropped, fixing it for those of us who like the feature but aren't about to buy a controller for it.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 3) - QUALITY OF LIFE FEATURES -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- None of these mods have any balance implications - aside from possibly helping you improve your play by eliminating tedium and letting you get to the decision-making faster. Recommended for everyone.
- 1. Evac All - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=618669868 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/99/?
- Adds a nifty ability to any soldier currently in the evac zone; evacuate all troopers in the 3x3 block at once, without the tedium of doing it individually. Also looks wicked sick when everybody ropes out simultaenously.
- 2. Full Character Customization From Start - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620530611 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/162/?
- Removes the arbitrary customization limits for rookies, allowing you to dress them up just as your ranking vets.
- 3. Memorial Pool - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621154137
- Allows you to rescue any prematurely deceased troopers to character pool Valhalla. This is only useful sometimes, but you'll be glad you have it when it is.
- 4. Quiet Bradford - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621358553 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/190/?
- Stops most of the aptly named sound clips "CENTRAL_NAG_x" from playing during retaliation missions. Basically he won't be yelling "WE'RE LOSING CIVILIANS LEFT AND RIGHT" all the time anymore.
- 5. Uniforms Manager - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626291285 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/285/?
- This mod is fucking great. Easy uniform storage and application for both individual troopers and squadwide get-ups? Check. Cross-campaign compatibility? Check. Nifty UI telling you what the time of day/biome/setting is in the AO you're going to? Chickity fucking check.
- 6. Overwatch All/Others - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621695447
- Allows you to put all of your soldiers/all of your soldiers but the currently selected one into overwatch at the click of a button.
- 7. LOS Preview Ability - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=636724652
- Criminally useful. Lets you preview what LoS there is from literally any tile with a soldier ability. Also lets you check which tiles an enemy will be able to move to, both single move and on a dash. This saves lives.
- 8. Nice DropShip (De)Briefing - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=638033072
- Shows a bunch of statistics from the mission in the Skyranger on the way back home.
- 9. Weapon Sidegrade - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=651888661
- Without this mod you can't use mod-added weapons without forfeiting any attached upgrades on a tier upgrade; this fixes that, by allowing you to trade attachments in between any weapon class of the same tier. For instance, all Tier 1 assault rifles can now swap their attachments to other Tier 1 assault rifles.
- 10. Starting Soldiers - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683306035
- If you're annoyed by not being able to choose which troopers appear on Gatecrasher, this mod is right up your alley. An easily workable .ini allows you to customize which soldiers join you on your debut operation, and even what rank and class they show up as.
- 11. Non-blocking reload, Faster Overwatch - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=746389497
- You know how overwatching pans to the soldier and reload locks you from doing other stuff until the animation is done? Yeah? Well it's fucking dumb and EU didn't do it so some guy fixed it.
- 12. Edited Ragdoll Physics Redux - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=765379187
- Revamps the weighting system for ragdolls to add a little unph to units dying. Small difference, but satisfying as hell.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 4) - GAMEPLAY FEATURES -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- These mods add new mechanics and tactical options to the game. In some cases they significantly change balance and how you play. Whether or not they are good additions is subjective, but they're here for a reason.
- 1. SMG Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=577409322 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/4/?
- Mobility inclined assault rifle alternative made by JL and crew.
- 2. Playable ADVENT - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=644076161 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/392/?
- This mod allows you to recruit MECs, Andromedons, Chryssalids, the whole shebang - even lets you name them and gives them skill-trees and ranks. If you think that sounds fun, it's still more fun than you think.
- 3. Leader Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=577517577 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/6/?
- Poorly balanced and much more useless than they were in LW, but an interesting concept; adds an Officer tree for some your troopers to take, providing minor buffs for the squad under their leadership. Also made by JL and crew.
- 4. Beatdown Skill - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=623809996 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/254/?
- Allows you to melee rifle-butt for 1-3 damage and a low stun chance. Too fun not to use.
- 5. Steady Weapon - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626609469 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/308/?
- Gives you more options for setting up ambushes by giving you an ability which grants you +20 aim on your first shot next turn.
- 6. ADVENT Officer - Call Reinforcements - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626617018 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/279/?
- If an ADVENT Officer is losing a fight, he now calls in a reinforcement dropship which arrives on the next turn.
- 7. Squad Cohesion - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660665065
- Can love bloom on the battlefield? Your squads now get a "cohesion rating" depending on how much experience they have fighting together, giving minor buffs.
- 8. Soldier Fatigue - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=642435739 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/484/?
- Your favorite LW mechanic is back. Troopers get tired after a mission, and if you deploy them again during their resting time they get an exhaust-wound.
- 9. Additional Mission Types - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647242867
- Currently adds two missions, Haven Siege and Assassinate ADVENT official. They're both balls to the wall and a step up in difficulty but very fun.
- 10. Grenade Damage Falloff - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626050983 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/206/?
- Makes grenades behave more like they did in Long War, with regular and enviromental damage scaling with proximity to the target at detonation. Makes Grenadiers balanced.
- 11. It's Just A Scratch V2 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=783066416
- Brings back another Long War feature - no soldier wounds unless HP damage is higher than the HP your armor grants you. If you ain't noticed, /xcg/ liked Long War. UPDATED ONCE AGAIN, STILL WORKS FOR SPARKs.
- 12. Stabilize Me! - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=654174276
- A great feature which lets soldiers without medkits stabilize critically wounded soldiers who do - no more medics getting shot first and bleeding out.
- 13. Improved AI - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=618390218
- This mod aims to enhance difficulty not by inflating enemy health or attack but by making them smarter - and in many ways, it succeeds in that goal. It reworks the ranges at which the enemy engage you, allow them to properly utilize their AoE abilities and so on, removing a lot of what's weighing them down in vanilla. It does some dubious things in how enemies value cover though; sometimes they will move into a highly flankable position because they value the full-cover there more than not getting shot next turn. To make up for that it's highly .ini editable, and if you know what you're doing you can tweak it just right for you.
- 14. Attrition Mode - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=669212530
- Did you ever feel it was silly that XCOM, an impromptu resistance force always operating in enemy territory never had much of an issue with ADVENT calling in dropship after dropship on top of them during all of the operations? Or that every soldier had an infinite amount of tactical clipazines to reload their weapon of choice with in the field? This mod remedies that by allowing ADVENT to drop reinforcements every so often abiding by an interval you decide in the .inis. It also adds an actual ammo limit - after you shoot enough times, you can no longer reload with the trooper who wasted his ammo. Hope you brought those swords, anon.
- 15. A Better AI - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=671648634&searchtext=a+better+ai
- This mod is basically a cut-out of the AI features from the A Better ADVENT mod. It generally makes the enemies smarter and slightly more unpredictable. It is unlike Advanced AI in the sense that it doesn't shy away from altering the role alien units fill altogether, and that it actually adds new variables rather than shifting around values in the old ones. For instance, no longer are Stunlancers dedicated suicidal melee fanatics, but will instead consider going for a rifle-shot if it does the same amount of damage without risking putting themselves in a flank. The tactical layer plays fairly differently with this mod enabled - in many ways, it is more reminiscent of Long War's unpredictable AI than it is XCOM2's rigid one. Overall this makes enemies behave more rationally, thus increasing difficulty.
- Note that it clashes with the Advanced AI mod.
- 16. Free Reload Anytime - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=670217680
- Allows you to choose when to use your Autoloader reloads so you can save them for a pinch rather than be forced to waste them whilst no pods are active.
- 17. Mod Achievment System - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=729577219
- For when flexing your E-peen on Steam just isn't enough, get this so you can take screenshots and flex your E-peen some more on /xcg/. Some of these are silly, some of them are actually pretty fun. It's novel and I liked it. It also has native compatibility with a lot of mods - I thought I wouldn't like this one but was pleasantly suprised.
- 18. Some More Achievments - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=729582723
- See above. Adds more achievments onto the same framework.
- 19. Long War Perk Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=719109968
- Adds around 70 perks as well as a framework for soldiers to have 3 perks per rank-up. Well coded and Firaxis endorsed.
- 20. Long War Laser Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=712967878
- Another LWS project, this one focusing on introducing an entire tier of new weapons, complete with balanced costs and stats. They look amazing, probably because they're modelled by Capnbubs. He's notable for his helmet pack and for being a pretty cool guy.
- 21. Wear Armour On Avenger - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=780983998
- If you're one of the people who despise the trademark avenger jumpsuit, here's a treat for you. Makes your soldiers run around in your customized combat gear, even when at base.

- CATEGORY 5) - BALANCE CHANGES -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- Opinions of these tweaks may vary. These are cheats to some and fixes to others. No party is wrong, just use what makes the game fun for you.
- 1. Accurate Swords - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=617795921 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/25/?
- Makes all XCOM swords 100% accurate. Blade rangers are now 20% less useless.
- 2. Additional Proving Ground Engineer - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=619948111 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/108/?
- Allows you to put another engineer in your proving grounds for faster projects.
- 3. Configurable Mission Timers - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=618055274 or www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/36/?
- Allows you to tweak mission timers to your liking via an .ini file.
- 4. BleedOutMod - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621423047 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/264/?
- The odds of entering bleedout rather than dying in XCOM2 were lower than EU, or so they say. This mod reverts it back to EU-ish odds.
- 5. Non-tile-snapping grenades - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=623684679 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/207/?
- Allows you to pixel-hunt with grenades like it's EU again.
- 6. EU Aim Rolls - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624799134 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/257/?
- In this humble anon's eyes, more of a fix than anything. Rolls work in a very strange way in XCOM2 making crits and dodges happen more often than they should statistically, this reverts them back to EU standards.
- 7. Advanced Modular Weapons - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626023136 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/253/?
- Removes Armed To The Teeth continent bonus (three weapon attachments) and adds a moderately expensive Proving Grounds project doing the same thing.
- 8. True retroactive AWC - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620586407 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/149/?
- Basically makes the AWC bonus ability roll always proc even on soldiers who were there from the start of the campaign and wouldn't have gotten a perk in vanilla. We used to like to argue over whether or not this was a cheat. The answer is yes.
- 9. Hunters Instinct for Swords - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627968794 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/382/?
- Makes Hunter's Instinct GTS (+3 Damage on flanks) apply to swords. Makes blade rangers slightly less useless.
- 10. SuppressionPlus - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628207417 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/341/?
- Greatly buffs suppression by giving it EU oppurtunist, and fixes a bug which would happen when aliens broke LoS out of suppression. Most importantly it makes the AI properly scared of running it if they're at risk of dying, as they should be.
- 11. Suppressable targeting abilities - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=638860768
- Suppression now reduces all targetable abilites (Grenades, rifts, poison and such) range by 60%. Those of you who played Long War will remember this feature.
- 12. Skulljack Mind-Controlled Enemies - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660186285
- Minor tweak which allows you to skulljack MC'd targets. Good for securing a worksafe enviroment for your specialists.
- 13. Collateral Demolition - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648913363
- Changes Demolition perk to work like Collateral Damage from EU Mec tree. Actually makes it not-worthless.
- 14. Bladestorm Customization - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=673233237
- This mod accomplishes two things.
- 1) Allows you to remove Overwatch reaction penalty from Bladestorm procs. If you feel bad about putting that on, don't. Mutons have no Bayonet penalty for Counterattack. Also swords don't have proximity aim bonus so they have pathetically low accuracy when reacting. You don't want swords to be useless, do you?
- 2) Allows you to toggle on or off how Bladestorm is triggered. You can have movement, attack, or both. Not neither though. That breaks shit and causes one of them to activate anyway.
- Editable in a nifty .ini file.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 6) - NEW ENEMY TYPES -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- Makes ADVENT less shit in the field by giving them more varied units to play with, mixing up fights. All of these are balanced.
- 1. Long War Alien Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=577474474
- If you're going to use any mod off of this category, this is the one. Adds 13 well balanced and magnificent enemies, most of them with lategame variants. Najas are bullshit. Enjoy.
- 2. Advent PSI Operative - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628352640
- Introduces a mid-game psionic enemy for before Gatekeepers show up and after Sectoids fall off.
- 3. ADVENT Sniper - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628401700 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/534/?
- Long ranged enemy that's there for virtually the entire game after appearing in the second/third month.
- 4. Elite Viper - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=634377972
- Makes Vipers actually scary mid and lategame by introducing an elite version.
- 5. Muton Demolisher - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=637434617
- Adds a Muton cover-destruction specialist to the late midgame.
- 6. ADVENT MEC : Breacher - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647998839
- Adds a shotgunning tier 4 MEC, basically. Dangerous up close. Packs a flamethrower.
- 7. ADVENT Priest - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648839877 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/533/?
- Early game ADVENT need more sustain, and here's a unit which tries to fill that void. Dedicated support/healer unit.
- 8. ADVENT Specter - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=651482213 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/532/?
- Basically a psionic ADVENT codex which can walk through walls. Also they can teleport and null lance in the lategame.
- 9. ADVENT Titan - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=654518307 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/531/?
- Tanky frontline unit that doesn't take any cover, instead using EU One For All to provide it to allies.
- 10. Advent Reconnaissance Unit - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=632036075
- A mobility-focused flanking machine which can ignore overwatch. Looks stupid, but fills a role that was missing in the ADVENT lineup.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 7) - MAPS/PCPs/PLOTS/WORLD -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- These mods slightly offset how every map looks painfully similiar. All of them are the same in function - except More Cities and EMN, we'll get to those - and are fully compatible with every imaginable mod, so unless you hate variety I suggest using all five.
- 1. More Maps Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=625430712 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/302/?
- 2. World Expansion Project: ADVENT - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626303273 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/268/?
- 3. Maps by Vozati - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=655847458
- 4. Even More Maps - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=703734451
- 5. Dragon's Wilderness PCPs - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=754041985
- 6. XCOM2 Cities - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=722017210
- This one is a very small mod, but one that adds a lot of flavor if you've played several campaigns. No longer is every city-center mission in the same five cities; it re-adds a bunch of geographical cities on the geoscape from way back in Long War and then some. About 1000 more, in fact.
- 7. Expanded Mission Names - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=679527387
- Adds metric fucktons of new operation names in the same tone as Vanilla. Arguably pointless, arguably fun. You be the judge.
- 8. Even More PCPs - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=811937009
- 9. Even More Maps - Suffer - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=771147826
- This one is my favorite of the bunch, because it's really more reminiscent of XCOM:EU's approach to maps than XCOM2's. It adds a couple of handcrafted maps with unique settings, such as a pier, a beach landing complete with bunkers, an Avenger defense in a canyon and some other equally interesting ideas. You know when you're playing on one of these maps. They can be really punishing, but unless you're a shitter you'll be fine.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 8) - CUSTOM CLASSES -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- Most class mods are either blatantly overpowered, just a switch-around of old abilities or a buggy mess. These aren't. Use or don't at your own leisure.
- 1. Lucubrations Infantry Class - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=632648555 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/394/?
- Arguably a tiny bit on the OP end, this is modder Lucubrations take on the old LW firefight powerhouse. Fun as hell to use and a lot of new abilities.
- 2. Escalation Classes - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=652910710 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/521/?
- Currently adds three takes on old Long War classes, all suprisingly well-balanced; Rocketeer, Scout and Gunner.
- 3. Lucubrations Sniper Class - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=658531225 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/536/?
- Adds a sniper class behaving a lot like EU snipers, with a few twists. Manages to distinguish itself from the Sharpshooter suprisingly well and innovates with a new set-up mechanic.
- 4. Grimy's Bruiser Class - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=659582342
- The Brucer has shitty aim but bueno survivability, making him a great asset for making firefights last longer. It is no longer a death sentence to not alphastrike every alien the turn you see them. In the words of anon, "The Bruiser goes in, stacks a bunch of armor and doesn't die. Until 4 sectopods use him for target practice."
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 9) - ARMOR CUSTOMIZATION -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- Adds more options for soldier armor/helmets/camo, so you can play dress-up for even longer.
- 1. Capnbubs Accessories Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=618977388 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/116/?
- Very few people choose not to use this mod. Great looking tacticool gear for all tiers, made by a pretty cool author who streams his work regularly.
- 2. Custom Bandanas - Armour Colours/Pattern - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=619355253 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/157/?
- Adds bandanas which respect camo patterns.
- 3. Military Camouflage Patterns - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=619706632 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/211/?
- Adds real world military camo patterns, most of which look pretty good. The most extensive camo-mod.
- 4. ADVENT Armour - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621966098 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/280/?
- Allows you to use all ADVENT armor options, you race traitor.
- 5. Grim Style Armor - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=623746856 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/447/?
- Adds new vanilla armor alternatives where the camo is placed on the textile rather than the armor padding, which arguably looks a lot less dumb.
- 6. Free the Hood - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=625349228 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/236/?
- Makes a lot more head options allow face props. I can not see why you wouldn't use this.
- 7. Star Wars Helmets - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=625481548 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/226/?
- Star Wars head options, complete with Republic Commando helmets. Suprisingly good quality. Why the fuck not at this point.
- 8. Kasrkin Camouflage - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626481851
- [/tg/ memes]
- 9. MGSV GZ MSF Headgear - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626608247 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/320/?
- Adds some good looking balaclavas and headsets from MGS V.
- 10. Symmetrical Kevlar Arms! - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626636844 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/289/?
- Pretty straightforward.
- 11. Lex Prop Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627363061
- Adds a Starship Troopers mobile infantry beret, for when you REALLY want your rooks dead.
- 12. More armor colors - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=629604401 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/343/?
- Extremely simple mod, but way useful for when you're trying to get a colour right.
- 13. TitanFall Gear - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=650731226
- Adds a bunch of Titanfall gear. In my own opinion, which I respect, the best armor mod on the workshop. The author is a really chill anon too, drop him a thank you when he posts about his progress. Unless I'm mistaken he's said he's going to put it on Nexus eventually.
- 14. Halo 4 Helmets - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=652037232
- I'll be honest; some of these look kind of stupid. Then again so does Tier 3 armor in general, so hey.
- 15. WA's Custom Gear - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=653902466
- Bulky Ironman helmet and some more bulky power-armor for Tier 3. This man is a big fan of big blocky armor that covers the face.
- 16. EU Ports
- XCOM EU/EW Ports: Tier 3 Armour - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660521897
- XCOM EU Ports Tier 1 Armour - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=722333931
- XCOM EU/EW Ports: Tier 2 Armour - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=660878813
- XCOM EU/EW Ports: Helmets - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=648432638
- XCOM EU/EW Ports: Extras - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=696566464
- ^ These five mods re-add Carapace, kevlar and Titan armor variants from EU, along with a bunch of helmets that manage to look suprisingly good despite coming from the old game. Best of all? EXALT get-ups.
- 17. Fancy Dress Party - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626235605
- Adds some masks from Hotline Miami, along with other silly shit. Good for a themed playthrough.
- 18. Fallout Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=630126797
- Adds a couple of goofy-looking Fallout NV helmets.
- 19. AltynHelmet - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=650242049
- So you can pretend that ADVENT are Chechnya and commit some serious war crimes. Looks great.
- 20. Commander Hat - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=634805931
- Adds an unapologetically russian ushanka.
- 21. WH40k Space Marine Helmets - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=635166848
- More /tg/ memes.
- 22. MGSV BDU Soldier Customization Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=632252203 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/452/?
- Adds great looking BDU's that gives off that 'nam 69 vibe.
- 23. Drimakus War Gear - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647126269
- Decent gasmask + helmet combo.
- 24. MGS4 Frog Trooper Outfit - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641364603 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/476/?
- Adds some neat looking bodysuits from MGS4 FROG Troopers, as well as a helmet.
- 25. Anarchys Children Extra Options - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=651406954
- Allows you to use many Anarchy's Children helmets in face props slot rather than helmet slot. Only works with the DLC in conjunction, obviously. I can't see why you wouldn't use this if you have the DLC.
- 26. Powered Mk2 Helmets - http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/541/?
- Adds a ton of Tier 3 looking helmets. Also made by a really chill anon, make sure to say thanks. I don't see many screenshots with it - probably because it isn't on the Workshop due to some bullshit with Valve's ToS.
- 27. Blacklight Retribution Helmets - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=674065294
- I'm reasonably sure this was made by one of you guys, and a big thanks if I'm right - they look great. We always need more Tier 3 looking helmets, because vanilla's were pretty damn terrible. Recently updated for female compatibility.
- 28. Stenchfury's Modular Helmets - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=636400624
- Adds very sci-fi helmets of varying theme and quality. They've gotten progressively better since the mods inception.
- 29. ODST Armors - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=690106744
- Made by the same anon who made BLR helmets. Great mod.
- 30. Planetside 2 Terran Republic Helmets - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=694412905
- Adds a load of helmet from the Planetside 2 Terran Republic faction. Although the helmets are all shit on account of not being NC, they're still pretty. Taken down from steam because of Volvo ToS, refer to mega.
- 31. Armorless Kevlar Parts - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741333272
- Simple kitbash, lets you use the different kevlar jumpsuit variants that are usually hidden underneath the padding. Optional, but suprisingly good looking.
- 32. All Spark Tier Customization Unlocked - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=737194092
- Another simple mod - lets you choose whether to use the original shitty T3 vibe or tacticool resistance T1 - now for SPARKs.
- 33. Stenchfury's Modular Armors - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=729351665
- From the same guy who made the modular helmets comes the armors, same high sci-fi vibe. Great for themed soldiers and playthroughs, kind of wacky in a tacticool one.
- 34. Richard Returns Mask - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=722378289
- Ports a Hotline Miami mask from Payday 2, for those of you who like hurting other people. Richard, specifically.
- 35. Fallout Ranger Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=720818415
- Somewhat shoddily modeled, but still amazing for a themed soldier. I really enjoyed this one. A couple of NCR ranger cosmetics for your snipers.
- 36. ADVENT Mec for Spark - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=715887476
- You know how ADVENT MECs look hella rad? Now your SPARKs can too.
- 37. SliWhists SPARK Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=717082999
- There's a couple of funny SPARK customizations in here. The main attraction? A Bender from Futurama headpiece. Now you just need a voicepack.
- 38. EW Mec Ports - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=716906004
- Ports over the MEC models from Enemy Unknown. They look so damn good, no joke. Take these bad boys for a spin and reminisce fondly over the days where Goliaths had 8DR and Archers laid waste to entire landed larges without breaking a sweat. Good times.
- 39. Individual Arms - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=705122565
- You know how AC introduced separate customization options for each arm? Well, this mod lets you do that but with all of the launch arms. Simple stuff, but neat as hell.
- 40. Halo Reach Marines Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=698237992
- Made by /xcg/'s very own Uncle Gunman. Looks killer.
- 41. Titanfall Sparks - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=812942004
- A reason in itself to get XCOM2, tbqh. This mod is great.
- 42. Old Republic HK Droids - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=808922116
- Your favorite killer robots from Star Wars, coming now to an XCOM near you.
- 43. ME3 Cat-6 Mercenaries Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802021350
- I always thought these guys were one of the only cool parts of Mass Effect 3. Now they're in XCOM. Thanks, Gunman.
- 44. Black Ops Helmets - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=795789393
- E3245 decided to take a break from weapon modding, and ported these sci-fi looking helmets from Black Ops instead.
- 45. XCOM EW Helmets For SPARKs - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=777683461
- The X2 modding scene are getting busy with making mechanized infantry great again.
- 46. MW Armour Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=772019443
- Extremely tacticool gear ported over from Call of Duty 4. If you like kitting your entire striketeam in special ops gear, this is for you.
- 47. RAGE Helmet - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=763045721
- This one is a modded from scratch helmet for the Alien Hunters RAGE Armor. It's different from the RAGE armor in that it looks outstanding, and can be fitted with other armors.
- CATEGORY 9.5) -- HALO ARMOR BONUS ROUND --:

- Dependent on Halo Customizable Armors, adds colorable techsuits.
- All of the above add high quality Spartan/ODST armors and helmets. Great mods. Only one is available on the Nexus that I know of, the Reach Helmets one.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 10) - WEAPON ALTERNATIVES -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- These are weapon mods of varying caliber - most are cosmetic, but some of them do offer increased firepower and can be argued to be OP. Use them the way you feel like - if it bothers you that they're not balanced for vanilla properly, they all have .ini files where the changes can be reverted.
- 1. Dragunov SVD - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=695027658
- Iconic Soviet-era sniper rifle.
- 2. M14 - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=663278422
- Adds a M14 made by Millenia and ported by E3245. Looks great.
- 3. HK416 and HK417 Variants - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627081021 and https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624282634
- Adds HK416/417 AR's which actually look good.
- 4. Rorsch Mk-1 Railgun (BF4 Railgun) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=631691329
- Sleek railgun looking Tier 2 sniper.
- 5. Remington Model 700 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=808016766
- A bolt action sniper, looks good.
- 6. Halo Reach Weapons - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641554054
- Good custom weapon sounds and sci-fi looking weapons for all tiers. Great mod.
- 7. AKS-74un - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=697655402
- The AKS-74un looks almost identical to the AK-74 save for it having a shorter barrel for a more snubnosed SMG feel. Made by the same guy who made the other AK, and upholds the same standards.
- 8. TheAxeMod - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=718190620&searchtext=
- Here's an interesting one - adds three tiers of combat axes for your rangers/melee operatives. T3 looks eh but the rest are great.
- 9. EX41 'China Lake' Grenade Launcher (Call of Duty: Black Ops) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=665084890
- "If it's good for killing gooks, it's good for killing ayys" - Some Anon
- 10. ADVENT Mag Pistol - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=644722630
- Adds a magnetic tier pistol of ADVENT design to your inventory.
- 11. IMI Uzi - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=668492294
- Allows you to do drive-by shootings of ADVENT VIPs. What's not to love?
- 12. M60E4 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=800500004
- If you really want to listen to Fortunate Son and blast aliens as if it was '69, get this mod. Scratch that, get all of E3245's stuff and top it off with the Skyranger customization mod for a pin-up decorated military chopper-look.
- 13. ARMAT M41A Pulse Rifle - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=686413893
- The iconic pulse rifle from Alien. Bear in mind the author decided it was a good idea to make it gamebreakingly OP by altering its stats to give +10 crit, +5 aim, +1 mobility and supression. Revert this in its .inis if you want the weapon to be balanced - or don't, mods are still cheats either which way.
- 14. AK-47 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=690496684
- For some people, the shemagh which shipped with the base-game wasn't enough for nailing that "insurgent"-look. Weapon modder E3245 was among them. In a bid to fix Jake's game for him, he added a classical Kalashnikov to the game. Those of you who like to mod Fallout NV will recognize the model as Heffy's classic one.
- 15. AUG A1 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=743655502
- Oh baby, this Austrian bad boy has killed almost as many people as that other Austrian bad boy.
- 16. Codename RU-557 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=742855254
- A great looking AR, I've nothing clever to say about it for now. Not that I ever say anything clever.
- 17. WA 2000 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=737759205
- Also known as the most overrepresented gun in video games. I mean jesus, only 200 or so of these even exist. I digress though. It looks good.
- 18. PKM - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=737309263
- LMG with wooden finish. Goes rat-tat-tat. 8/10.
- 19. Sawn-off Remington 870 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=736939919
- Aim for the head etc. Shotgun alternative, amazing looking. Personal favorite.
- 20. Pancor Jackhammer - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=736098360
- Sounds so damn satisfying. Automatic shotgun for when you want 'em extra dead.
- 21. FN FAL 50.00 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=722899131
- I really have a hard time finding something to say about these - they're all high-quality weapon replacements. This one is no exception. Adds a FN FAL semi-automatic AR.
- 22. Oblivion Energy Cannon - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=722142270
- Flashy enough to feel novel and fresh, a T3 cannon with a lot of attitude. I seriously dig it.
- 23. HK MP5 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=721443480
- Hella tactical, it's everything the aspiring anti-alien SWAT crew could hope for. Looks amazing.
- 24. FN P90 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=721312498
- Reminds me of Stargate Atlantis. The SMG of choice for many, looks neat.
- 25. RPKn - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=719311132
- Looks similiar to the PKM, great looking LMG.
- 26. SCAR-H Assault Rifle - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=719078038
- A classic for a reason.
- 27. XM177E2 Commando - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=701520585
- 28. XM16E1 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=701526830
- 29. M16A4 - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=701533142
- These all add very good looking assault rifles from a famous New Vegas modder as ported by E3245. Similiar vibe to all three, but one has more of a DMR feel, one looks fairly old timey and the last is your run of the mill service rifle. All three are worth having.
- 30. XM8 DMR - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=752772978
- Plastic piece of shit weapon that jams way more often than it has any right to. The mod's good though.
- 31. Desert Eagle XIX Redux - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=755206093
- Looks amazing, no joke.
- 32. M1911 Redux - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=754462241
- Also looks amazing.
- 33. L115 Sniper Rifle - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628912930
- AWP. Looks aight.
- 34. M8 Avenger Assault Rifle - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=755842209
- So you can avenge your M8s. Seriously though, it's a ME weapon.
- 35. Mercenary Plasma Weapons - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=707170261
- Probably my favorite weapon mod on this list by virtue of being the only mod to successfully tackle remaking an entire tier without being Firaxis funded. This anon deserves a fucking medal. Revamps T3 to look more Mercenary-like.
- 36. Mark 21 Railgun - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=729221182
- Kind of like the Rorsch railgun featured earlier, but more futuristic. Neat.

- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 11) - MISC. CUSTOMIZATION -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- Anything relating to character customization without being armor or weapons. I split those three up because they're very big categories otherwise.
- 1. Custom Face Paints - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=619525059
- A bunch of pretty silly facepaints, along with an extremely useful black collar to cover soldier necks.
- 2. Starship Troopers - Tattoo - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=619866263 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/105/?
- Adds a Starship Troopers Tattoo.
- 3. Ink And Paint - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620051852 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/186/?
- Bunch of tats, bunch of facepaint. Solid quality.
- 4. DiverseFacepaints - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621432907 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/327/?
- More facepaints. Varying quality.
- 5. Not so super soldiers - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621715241
- Recycles six faces and lets you use them in normal character creation, namely the Aussie Goblin, Sid Meier, Van Doorn, Central, Shen and Tygan. Nice for variety.
- 6. Mod Everything - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=622863565 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/193/?
- Allows you to name secondary weapons. Note that this mod lets you attach upgrades to secondaries for some reason; do NOT do this unless you also have Grimy's Loot Mod installed. They will have zero effect.
- 7. More hair colors - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628668732 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/282/?
- Simple and useful.
- 8. More skin colors - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=629368512 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/364/?
- Simple and useful.
- 9. Dirty Troopers - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=631711429
- Adds a bunch of dirt layer facepaints that make your soldiers look a bit more rugged. It sounds trivial but adds a lot of flavor.
- 10. Eurasian Special Forces - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=636819569
- Tacticool warpaints.
- 11. Mass Effect's Jack Appearance Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620289907 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/319/?
- One of the few mods which actually add hairstyles, also packs a couple of tattoos and ear-gadgets. They're also supposedly made in the likeness of an ME character.
- 12. Destroyer's Female Hair Pack - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661304203
- As far as I'm aware the first dedicated hair-pack, adds three hairdo's for women.
- 13. Super Awesome Skyranger - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=653926741
- Allows customization of the Skyranger from the armory screen, the source of the Bradford Skyranger you've been seeing tossed around.
- 14. Add Rank Nation - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=642086911
- XCOM don't wear their rank. With this mod you can make them by assigning them a "rank-nation" from the nationality selection, giving them a stylish backpatch with the rank insignia on it.
- 15. Plasman Tattoos - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=649201190
- Adds a ton of tattoos, most of which are pretty good.
- 16. LW Soldier Ranks - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628873744
- For those of us who are nostalgic about magnificence. Colonels are now Master Sergeants and rookies PFCs - just like it should be.
- 17. Destroyers Female Face Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=755415350&searchtext=Face+Pack
- Adds a fully animated face. Granted, it's in the lower props customization section, but it works.
- 18. Savage Cam Cream - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=653059864
- Sounds dirtier than it is. Tacticoolest facepaints on the workshop.
- 19. Glowing Eyes - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=800684826
- Adds some flavor to your Psi-ops by letting you give them shiny, sinister looking eyes in bright colors. Great for making them stand out.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- CATEGORY 12) - VOICE PACKS -
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- IN A NUTSHELL:
- This category is last for a reason. Most voicepacks are terribly executed. Are these exceptions? You tell me, it's extremely subjective.
- They're all pretty self-explanatory so they're just ranked on how good they meld into the game on a scale of ten. Feel free to scroll past this segment as what sounds okay to the makers of this modlist may sound trash to you.
- 1. Cheeki Breeki Voice Pack - 7/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=620359968 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/237/?
- 2. XCom International Voices Pack - 8/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=623812197 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/203/?
- 3. Exalt Voice Pack - 10/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=624773641 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/234/?
- 4. CSGO : SAS Voicepack - Only good if you like CSGO and then it's great/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627061563
- 5. Garrus Vakarian Voicepack - 9/10 suprisingly good
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627176059
- 6. Annette Voice Pack (French Accent) - 10/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628333245 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/312/?
- 7. Combine Soldier Voicepack - 8/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=632619091
- 8. DOW Merrick Voice Pack - 8/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=635974409
- 9. Noble Team Voice Pack Collection - 9/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=654895906
- 10. MGS Solid Snake Voice Pack - 9/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=642361290 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/485/?
- 11. Fear Replica Voice Pack - 7.5/10
- https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=627590586 or http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/350/?
- 12. Japanese Voice Pack - 8/10
- http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647307085
- Varying quality because it adds a total of 16 voices, but generally much better than expected. Some of them recommended even for non-weeaboos.
- 13. Moonbase Alpha - 8/10
- http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641607244
- Quote from anon: "If you played lots of Moonbase you will recognize the memes and they are pretty appropriate and fun. Despite playing around 40 hours with it on it still hasn't worn itself out."
- 14. Van Darkholme Voice Pack - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=626742882
- In the words of anon, "What is this jabroni post".
