Fate of the World Session 26

You were at the modeling studio with Renee. Duty called and so the two of you had to come down and get some work done. Well, you call it work, but all you really had to do was sit around and enjoy some refreshments while Renee did the modeling work. With a drink in hand, you watched as Renee was instructed to take certain poses. This particular photoshoot was for a particular clothing line that was hitting the stores soon and Renee had been picked to promote it. Needless to say that she was ecstatic about it. You didn't entirely get it, but Renee was excited and that's all you needed.

So here you were. However, there was one difference: Throughout the entire shoot so far, Renee had been well...sexy?

You noticed that throughout several shots she'd shoot glances your way, especially so whenever she posed a certain way, making sure that you got a good look. No doubt it was to do to that confession from a few days earlier(Which now that you think about it, was a really weird confession). You have to admit that you don't particularly hate the attention she's throwing your way, you just hope that no one else is able to figure it out.

"Okay, we're gonna take a break. Renee, excellent work, we'll get back to it." The photographer said with a smile "These shots are looking great, but I need just a couple more."

"Okay! I'll be ready for sure!" Renee replied with a grin

Walking over towards where you'd been standing(by the refreshments table) Renee picks up a bottle of water before smiling at you widely.

"So Hiro...what do you think?"

"Kind of figured mineral water would taste better than tap water honestly." You say setting your cup down

Renee's eyebrow twitches before letting out a sigh "Fair enough. You aren't really wrong. Try the juices next time, at least those have some taste to it."

You nod in response, that'll probably be for the best, and you know for sure you're avoiding the sparkling water. It's nothing but carbonated water and that tastes awful.

"But now that you're terrible jokes are out of the way, I'll ask again: What do you think?"

Her eyes narrow at you, as if saying 'you know damn well what I mean this time you asshole.'

Once again, you're put on the spot

You let out a sigh and smile "Fine. You're cute."

Renee giggles and smiles widely at the praise "Good, and you'd do well to remember it."

The two of you continue talking for a bit before Renee is called up again to resume taking some more photos. It's the same as before. The camera loves Renee and Renee loves the camera. She strikes several more poses, all the while shooting you flirtatious glances and looks as best she can while avoiding suspicion from the crew and the photographer eats it all up.

"That's right! That's the shot! You're on fire Renee, I'm loving this energy!" He exclaims as he snaps several more shots "How about this pose next?"

Renee agreed and she took even more photos, doing just as before all while shooting you sultry looks. All in all, you'd gotten in at about 8AM and it was now 4PM and the shots were done. You were both gearing up to leave, Renee being allowed to keep the outfit, a gift for doing such a standout job.

"That was great, I can't wait to see the magazine and internet articles for those shots!" Renee said pumping her fist in triumph. "We're doing it Hiro, we're really gonna go far!"

"Yeah, it's looking that way. We'll keep going and nothing will stop us!"

The two of you laugh before your laughter stops. Why? Well...you just happened to look up at the sky and saw something you wish you hadn't.

You turn to Renee and nod, taking out your weapons and staying on guard. The sky was red now...and the street you were on was now deserted, eerily so. Even with that being the case, it felt as if you were somehow being watched.

"It's that...cosmic egg thing again. What do we do now?" Renee asks

"There's gotta be a way out." You say looking around, there's nothing but what look to be derelict buildings. Those weren't there a moment ago, it's almost as if the entire area was slowly decaying. There didn't seem to be anything particularly notable besides that.

"I guess we just keep moving forward? At least until something happens?"

"Works for me, let's just stick together, this is giving me the creeps."

You nod and look at your options, this is a particularly busy area...normally, so there's usually a few streets to go down. One of them has to lead you out!

"Let's head this way." You say pointing to a street to the left "There's probably something this way."

The two of you stick close and continue moving, turning down the street. It's not too long and the buildings that were along this way were all closed, or beat up looking. Staring at the windows only had your reflection stare back, the inky blackness within not giving you any idea as to what's inside.

As you continue to make your way down the block you notice something off in the distance. Or rather...someone.

"W-what the hell is that?!" Renee whispers, holding her spear tightly

He hasn't noticed you yet, clearly pre-occupied with something else, but you've seen him before and see him walking around so casually blindsides you for a moment.

"That's...an oni." You mutter moving back a bit "Careful, he's probably really dangerous"

"Yeah as if the bulging muscles, sharp teeth, and the giant blade he's carrying aren't enough of an indication." Renee replied sarcastically

"Talk to him?! Are you insane?!"

"Come on, it could be useful. He doesn't look all that dangerous and I'm sure we could take him on."

"Alright, I'll trust you on this..." Renee said, still unsure about the idea

The two of you make your way to the oni, hands gripped tightly on your weapons as he notices you.

"Er...hey there! How's it going?"

"Who are you?" The Oni asks "What are you doing here?" The oni growls gripping its own weapon "Speak up or I'll eat ya!"

These words cause Renee to nearly ready her spear, but you calm her down to keep her from acting rashly.

>WE GOT DRAGGED INTO THIS WORLD ON OUR WAY HOME FROM WORK, YOU KNOW THE WAY OUT OR ANY PLACES WE COULD MAYBE TRADE SOME SHIT?

Before anyone else can say anything, you quickly speak quickly(and loudly) about your current predicament to which the Oni raises an eyebrow

"Trading huh? Well there's this real weird demon opposite of here. They collect a bunch of stuff, ya might be able to get something from them, though I hear that they're really stingy. Don't tell anyone, but they give me the creeps so I tend to stay away."

"What makes them so creepy?" Renee asks

"You'll see for yourself if you go there. Though I don't really recommend it."

You calm down from your little tirade and nod at him. Well, there's something at least.

"Are there any other weirdos or weird places we should look out for?" Renee asks

The Oni rubs his chin "There is one place, there's a building at the end of the main street. But you can't get there by heading straight down the block. Ya gotta go in from below."

"Below?" You reply

"Yeah, don't ask me how it works, but whenever you approach from the main street, you'll suddenly find yourself underground. Then you gotta make your way through the sewers. You either go to that building or you come back to the main street."

"Really? That's weird."

"Yeah. No doubt a demon is behind it, and a nasty one at that."

"Okay, and would you come with us?"

"Go near that place? No way, I don't want to go anywhere near that place. *Way* too creepy." The Oni says "Is that all? Then get lost, I gotta finish collecting stuff for my base!"

With a nod, you turn away from the Oni and head the opposite direction. You have to admit that you're pretty curious about this demon running a shop. Maybe you'll find something useful?

The two of you stick together and continue through the right street. This area is just as abandoned as the last, or at least it looks that way. The street is long and winding, way longer than any street should be, and just as you're about to turn back and leave, Renee points out a small building that's got some lights on. The warm glow sticks out like a neon sign compared to everything else around you.

"This must be it." Renee mutters "Well, let's check it out?"

"May as well." you say opening the door to the sight of a really cramped shop.

There's tons of odd knick-knacks sitting around, a broken toy, some bottles filled with a weird green substance and what looks to be a car tire all just laying around. Behind the counter you see a young woman staring at you and Renee. Her form unblinking and unmoving.

"..."

"......."

Okay, this woman is odd. But, this is a trade right? Without thinking you take out the flaming sword you'd been carrying around(an extra weapon in case you lost your current one) and say in your best bartering voice

"How much for this?"

In a surprising display, the demon woman quickly picks the blade up and gives it a few looks over and some swings, the flames coming to life. She quickly rubs her chin again, before reaching down below the counter and dropping three bright red gems onto the counter.

"...Deal?" She says, the first *real* words she's spoken to you at all

"You're giving us Rubies for this?" Renee asks

The demon nods

"Huh...well, it's your call Hiro."

>So where's the rest of your stock? I want to see what else you've got.

"It's a trade." You say with a thumbs up, the demon cracks a small smile before sliding the sword beneath the counter.

"So, where's the rest of your stock? I want to see what else you've got."

She looks at you for a moment before bringing a finger up to her lips.

"...It's a secret?"

She nods

"But why?"

She tilts her head for a moment, before smiling and speaking again "It's more fun that way."

"Fun? That seems more pointless, wouldn't you get more business if you made it clear what it was you were selling?" Renee asks

The demon tilts her head to the opposite side before smiling again. Once more she speaks "But where's the fun in knowing everything? Is a mystery not enticing precisely because you *don't* know what it is? I think the same is true with trade."

She goes quiet again.

"You're a weird one." Renee deadpans

The demon says nothing

"Alright fine..." You say with a groan, you take out one of the needle guns you kept on your person and set it on the counter "What would this get us?"

The demon looks it over and a shine comes to her eyes, clearly as if she's never seen the weapon before. In fact, you're very sure that she hasn't seen it before. She quickly fires off a shot at the roof and is in awe at what she sees. Scrambling below the counter she quickly throws out 5 small green rocks, a friggin' Diamond, and...what you think is a skull? On closer inspection, it's a rock shaped like a skull and you aren't too sure how to feel about that.

"Deal!?" She exclaims loudly "Deal?! DEAL?!!!! Life Stones, Diamond, Mamudo Stone! Deal?!"

You're taken aback by her enthusiasm, but she clearly wants the thing if she can get. No telling if you really should give it to her. The last thing you want on your mind is that you started a demonic arms race.

The demon woman giddily takes the needle gun and stows it away, pushing the items towards you. You quickly put the stones away before the demon returns to staring at you, as if the previous display didn't happen at all.

"Sooooo...what now?" Renee asks "I think it's about time we get a move on

Still curious, you place the armor and a summon crystal on the table. The demon behind the counter instantly tosses the armor back at you, instead looking at the summon crystal. She picks up inspecting it as if it were a shiny new toy. She rolls it in her hands a few times, pokes it, tosses it in her hands, and even...licks it.

You aren't sure you want that back now if at all.

She looks up at you and Renee before clapping her hands together in realization. She dips below the counter and pulls out a black orb and places it on the counter.

"For the lady." The demon says

"For me...?" Renee asks "What does it do?"

"It helps."

"Helps?"

"Yes. Helps. You want it?"

"Sure, we'll take it." You say with a shrug, you aren't sure what this thing will do, but maybe it can be used for something in regards to summoning. Still, the demon said that it's for Renee, so you had it to her.

"Thanks...?" Renee said holding the black orb

"Now go. Must study crystal." The demon says shooing you and Renee out. The door slams behind you as you're both standing there, unsure of exactly what just happened.

"Well...that was weird." Renee mutters, she turns the orb over in her hands a few times, it suddenly shatters in her hand, covering her in black smoke.

"Ack! W-what the hell...!" Renee coughs as the smoke slowly disappears "Ugh, that thing smelled awful. What was that thing anyway?"

"I don't know, but are you okay?" You ask

"I'm fine. But I think we got scammed."

"You're probably right." You say with a sigh, "It doesn't matter, what does, is getting out of here."

She nods in agreement, and after a few knocks on the shop door (Which doesn't help at all) you both decide it's time to go. Returning to the main street, there's only one way to go and that's straight down the street.

"Are we really doing this?" Renee asks

"No other choice, I can't think of anything else to do." You reply "Now let's go."

The two of you walk down the street until a black hole forms under you, caught by surprise, you both shriek before falling down into it, appearing in...well a sewer. Surprisingly though, it doesn't smell like rancid ass, so there's that at least.

"Are you okay Renee?"

"I'm fine!" Renee calls to you standing up "Still, can't believe we're actually in a sewer. I hope this doesn't ruin my hair..."

You roll your eyes at her mundane worries. Yeah, she'll be fine.

"Now we just have to figure our way out here." You say

"Yeah and-Oh crap, Hiro look out!"

As soon as she finishes speaking you feel something behind you and quickly dive out of the way, retreating back towards Renee. Looking at where you just where you see several black oozes slithering towards you.

"W-what the hell are those?!"

"Oozes. They're like slimes, but a little tougher." You grunt "Come on Renee, time to get ready!"

"Y-yeah, let's take em out!

You and Renee call forth your allies and get ready to battle. You know how to handle oozes, you played tons of Persona 5! They shouldn't be too difficult to handle so long as you buff properly and keep yourself topped off. To that end, you opt to try and go for a build up strategy, first by casting magic on Eve to raise her power.

Following your lead, Renee does the same, throwing down a couple smoke bombs to help obscure you from the enemy. With Y'shtola raising everyone's defenses.

Eve lazily raises her hand and increases all of your attack power, while Palutena lowers the enemies defenses!

The slimes all converge on your group and try to bite and slam at you all. Thanks to the preparation though, you're able to easily dodge all of their attacks.

"Ugh!"

Or so you though, you whip around to see that Palutena actually taking a bite, and wincing from it. As soon as she leaps back she winces, letting out a pained cough.

"P-poison...!" She says coughing again "Be careful!"

"Look out for the poison everyone!" You call out swinging your blade in a wide arc to hit the enemies in front of you. Meanwhile, Renee throws down another set of smokebombs hoping to obscure the party even more.

"Oberon, Space Wrench!" Eve calls out, having her robotic butler do as told though he misses one of the attacks which causes Eve to kick him square in the butt.

"Moron." She growls

What follows that is Palutena singing...just like Miku, almost eerily so as she affects the slimes with her song, slowing them down

Y'shtola heals you all with her magic, patching you all up a bit.

The slimes attack again, and this time one of them manages to cast some sort of magic, sucking the life out of you! Another one manages to bite Renee! But thankfully, she isn't poisoned like Palutena is.

You continue swinging your sword, dealing as much damage to the enemy as possible, you mess up the first time, but you bring your sword back around and get in another swing.

"My turn!" Renee exclaims twirling her spear around before swinging it in a wide arc to hit all the oozes with ease. "All that cheerleader practice is finally paying off!" Renee chuckles

Trait Activated: He believes in Me!

"You too Oberon. Don't let the girl outdo you." Eve commands, Like before he slashes at the group of enemies again, this time hitting them all and not missing a single one.

"Good. That's what I like to see."

The enemies all die, turning into nothing but puddles from the attack. All things considered, an easy win for your group, and now you can focus on getting the hell out of here.

With the fight finished, you and Renee look around the area for any more threats.

"It doesn't look like anything is here..." Renee said "Let's keep moving, I don't wanna stick around.

"Agreed, come on let's go." You say with a nod.

The two of you continue down the twisting pathways of the sewer, unsure of where it is exactly that you're going. It's surprisingly well-lit for a sewer, but that isn't important right now. What is important is the room you stumble upon, it's a wide open area, with two paths, there's one on top, just a little bit away from you, you could keep going that way, but there's also a ladder leading to a lower path, what's down there could be anyone's guess.

"Let's go to the bottom." You say to Renee

"Seriously? Ugh, shouldn't we try to go higher? Going deeper into a sewer sounds awful."

"Well yeah, but right now, we're in a place where it's possible that up is down, left is right and the only way to proceed could be to go back again."

"What you said didn't make any sense..." Renee deadpans

"Just come on." You say with a roll of your eyes

The two of you head down a ladder that leads towards the lower path. You feel your feet sink into the water a bit and you notice Renee shudder behind you.

"Hatethishatethishatethis!" she squeals

You ignore her and continue down the path. It's barely lit, so your visibility is low. As the two of you continue on, you hear something...strange. A kind of rumbling? No, it's *something* making a noise, but you just aren't sure what it is exactly. Renee is a bit fearful, understandable really, and you feel a bit disturbed yourself.

"Okay, no. Hiro, I *really* think we should get the hell out of here, do you *hear* that?!"

"Yeah...maybe..."

You opt to continue on, despite your reservations and the sounds only get louder and louder as you do. Now that you're so much closer to it, it sounds like...an animal? Definitely the sound an animal would make.

"Hiro...what the hell is that?!"

"I don't know...an animal for sure though."

"That loud?! It's gotta be huge!"

"Not necessarily, the acoustics of this place could make anything seem louder than usual."

"I really hope you're right..."

After another few minutes of walking, you come towards a more well-lit area. The room dips down into an area positively filled with water and trash.

Nothing looks out of place, and so you walk a bit closer to the railing to look over at the water below.

"Damn, looks like a dead-end." You mutter

Then, faster than you can react, your right arm is caught in the mouth of a...

"HOLY FUCK!!!" is all you can say as pain runs through your arm.

"HIRO!!!!" Renee screams, firing off lightning in a knee-jerk reaction. It does its job of breaking the monster's grip on you, but it leaves your arm in a horribly mangled state as the beast returns into the water.

"Dammit, I told you we shouldn't have come down here!"

You hear the growling of the beast, making it clear that it was the thing making those noises.

"Hiro we gotta get out of here, we can't beat that thing!"

You stagger to your feet, the pain running throughout your body. You'll have to fight with your left arm now as your right one simply can't be used.

>For the rest of this session, Hiro now has an permanent -4 to his melee attacks

There's no need for a second thought here. You and Renee stumble out of there, running as far as away as you can until you're back at the section separating the top and bottom area. It was...hard getting up the ladder with your arm, but you manage it all the same.

"That's...a lot of blood...okay I think I can stop that at least." Renee says using some healing magic on your arm. It's still pretty torn up, but the bleeding has at least subsided.

"Hiro...give me your shirt." she says

"My what?" You reply in surprise

"To make a sling you idiot. Now give it!"

You do as she says, taking your shirt off. Thankfully, you had a t-shirt on underneath that, but you swear for a moment you see Renee lick her lips all the same. She proceeds to wrap your arm up as best as she can, it's a shoddy job, but it's the best you've got.

"Thanks Renee." You say with a wince "I should still be able to fight...so let's go."

"Right...now come on, we're taking the top path this time and if we find anything like *that* again, we aren't fighting it okay?"

"Fair enough."

The two of you take the top path and your led through more winding tunnels. You thankfully don't run into anymore slimes, it's when you come to another room, this one consisting of a giant body of water in the middle that you feel as if anything is off. The water in the middle of the room is swirling like a whirlpool, though thankfully, the steel walkway allows you to circle around it with ease.

As you continue walking, the water...bubbles a bit.

You've had enough of things in the water giving you trouble and so you motion for Renee to run. The two of you book it to the other side of the room as fast as you can and you slam the door shut.

"Looks like this is our way out!" Renee said pointing to a ladder "Come on Hiro, let's get out of here!"

You follow behind her, climbing up the ladder and arriving...into the lobby of a closet?

"W-what the hell?" You grumble, "A closet...?"

"I don't even care, we just need to get out of here!" Renee grunted, kicking the door open and revealing a front desk. You both step out to see that you're now in the lobby of a building.

"Well...we're here, now what?" Renee said with a shrug

"I dunno, try to go for the front door maybe?"

"I doubt that'd get us home."

"We don't know that, look at how we got here." you deadpan

"That's...true. Well, okay, let's try it!"

You make your way to the door, and when you're a few feet away from it, a figure appears before you.

"Halt. You have been sentenced to death by our lord."

"Oh what is it now?!" Renee growls

"Death? Who gave that order?"

"Our lord Nyarlythotep. Bringer of a new world for demons. You who stand in his way shall fall by hand! Remember my name: Eligor, the one who brought you to your knees."

"Great...Renee you ready?"

"As if I had a choice." she sighs.

You call out Duran and Ryza, while Renee calls on Sailor Moon

"Tsk, do your worst, you and yours will not defeat me." Eligor states

"Yeah yeah, you're all talk! Come on Hiro, let's show him...and don't strain your arm!"

"I know, I know!"

You start off the fight by buffing up your defenses. You don't feel too good on the attacking front right now, what with your arm in a sling.

Renee follows along, throwing down some smokebombs, helping to obscure everyone from Eligor

"Stay strong everybody!" Sailor Moon cries, raising your defense even further

"Take this!" Duran shouts slashing at Eligor with his sword

Following up after him, Ryza throws a bottle at Eligor, soaking him!

Eligor retaliates, stabbing Sailor Moon with his lance and dealing a hard blow to her. He goes for another strike against you, but misses!

You take out your gun and begin taking aim while charging your gun with power.

Renee strikes a pose, making a flirty glance at Eligor, all the while, making her body look extremely attractive. This causes two things to happen: The first is that it has absolutely no effect on Eligor who merely scoffs. The second is that you see it and this breaks your concentration entirely...you let go of the trigger prematurely, firing and missing Eligor completely. You sheepishly, look away, trying to control yourself.

>Hiro cannot act next turn!

"My turn! Sailor Moon exclaims, hitting Eligor with her tiara. I'll get you back for before!"

"Save some for me!" Duran shouts hitting Eligor with his sword again!

And then Ryza throws even more of her concoction onto Eligor.

In response to this, Eligor attempts to stab Ryza, but misses, upon that he follows up with a wave of energy that misses everyone but you. You're still kind of out of it from Renee's display, and so you take the full brunt of the attack.

"Crap, uh...hang on Hiro!" Renee said throwing down a smokebomb and then proceeding to heal everyone. (It doesn't really help the *other* problem you have though)

"Moon Tiara Action!" Sailor exclaims hurling her tiara at Eligor. He deftly dodges it before Sailor moon causes it to hit him in the back with a turn of her finger.

"Heh, I'll have to remember to thank that bald guy from those anime DVDs later." Sailor moon chuckled

"Take this!" Ryza shouts tossing another of her potion at Eligor

Following up on this, Duran tries to attack Eligor, but his attack is blocked and he's pushed back. Eligor then takes a couple jabs with his spear, but just as he did to Duran, Duran is able to block the attacks and knock them away.

Now that you're no longer...distracted, you swing your blade as hard as you can to damage Eligor. Pain shoots throughout your arm, but you still manage to land your hits, though it was a bit softer than you had intended.

"One more!" Renee exclaimed throwing down another smokebomb. The area was now positively full of the stuff, keeping you obscured as best as possible. With that done, Renee calls down lightning to strike Eligor eliciting an extremely painful howl from him

>Eligor's Weakness found!

"My turn!" Sailor Moon calls out. "Another Tiara, coming at you!" This time she's able to land her hits twice and each one sends Eligor reeling

Ryza throws another vial at Eligor, lowering his stats even more

>All stats down!They cannot go lower!

Duran attempts to hit Eligor, but unfortunately, he's blocked yet again!

Eligor then attacks Sailor Moon and Renee. Sailor Moon is able to to dodge, but Renee isn't as lucky, eating a nasty slash from Eligor's Spear.

You can tell that Eligor is on the back foot and so you attempt another set of attacks. Your injury ruins one of your swings, but you're able to hit Eligor with the second strike.

Renee follows up. Having found what hurts him the most, she calls forth more lightning to strike Eligor! He's hit so hard that he cannot move!

>Eligor is Paralyzed! He cannot act!

Ryza follows up, throwing a thunder bomb at Eligor, hurting him further! While Duran hits him as well.

Eligor shakes off the paralysis and can attack once more!

Once again you attack and deal some serious damage to Eligor, following up behind you is Ryza, sneaking in an extra attack as Eligor staggers from yours.

Trait Activated: Follow Up

Renee follows suit attacking with more lightning, shocking Eligor until he slumps to the ground.


"G-Guh! Y-you...may have bested me. But know this human...and you as well demon...the precious world you fight for will be no more...Our leader...Nyarlthotep will...will...!"

Before he can say anything else, Eligor disappears in a flash of light. Leaving you and your allies standing victorious

With Eligor defeated, you and Renee exit out of the door...and find yourself out front of the building where the photo shoot took place. You look around, making sure there's nothing else ready to pop out at you...and see nothing else.

"I...I think we're back!" Renee exclaims "Thank god, I seriously need a shower..."

"Yeah, I'm glad that's over...getting bit by an alligator or crocodile or whatever is something I only want to experience once."

>No hanging around. Get home
>So...wanna grab some drinks?

>Home
>Pick up some beer on the way

"Come on, we're heading home." You say with a sigh

"But your arm..."

"It'll be fine, the pain is mostly gone now. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to just...go."

"Okay Hiro, let's go home."

You both head to your car and once you start it up and pull out you're on your way back to your apartment...but not before grabbing some beers along the way much to Renee's pleasure. Once you're home, you get Holly and Alphonse in a text group and fill them in on what happened. Needless to say that they're shocked by the entire ordeal and they promise to be their to help. The issue is that well...the enemy could strike at any time and you aren't sure how you'd keep them all around without people looking at you weird.

A simple solution Alphonse texted

And that is...? you ask

Holly and I shall become models under your supervision.

WHAT!? Holly texted in what you assume is shock

Before you could reply, you heard an equally loud shout from your room

"HOLY FUCK!!!"

Without a second thought you rush to your room to see Renee grabbing at her head

"Renee what's wrong?" You ask "Why the hell are you screaming?"

"Hiro...I HAVE FRIGGIN' HORNS!"
