Sakito: Hello everybody today I'm in the presence of Joyverse, who's one of the RoA Tour Night host and one of the Interviewers himself. He also has been promoted to room voice recently on RoA. How are you doing, Joy?

Joyverse: I'm doing fine, Sakito. Pretty nice, actually. How about you?

Sakito: I'm fine too, thanks! so to start this interview, how did you discover Pokémon Showdown?

Joyverse: I only had experience playing on Wifi on Pokémon Platinum, that too not that well. I wanted to learn competitive 'mons but had no idea how to. I ended finding some videos of people playing on PS on a fansite called Psypoke late-2013. That's how I ended up here.

Sakito: Awesome! playing wifi battles on Pokémon Platinum must have been fun. Can you tell us where you nickname comes from? I find it funny.

Joyverse: It's actually quite simple really. Joy's my nickname irl and I just added Universe. It's short for Joy's Universe.

Sakito: Pretty cool! Do you have a favorite Pokémon?

Joyverse: Hmm. I have lots of them. But I were to pick just one it has to be Reshiram. I love both the types and the design's cool. It's just an extremely handsome pokémon!

Sakito: I see, I know that you're playing Ubers, do you prefer Ubers more than Overused and why?

Joyverse: I sure do prefer Ubers more than OU. It's more or less the childhood dream of spamming multiple legendary/potent pokémon all at once which has solidified into maining the tier (and the past gens of em) as whole. I still keep in touch with OU though.

Sakito: I had this childhood dream too haha, what is the best Ubers metagame between all the gens according to you?

Joyverse: ADV Ubers. ADV Ubers is my most favorite gen. The fact that each threat can cover up and take on different threats makes me feel it's the most balanced generation so far. The true power-creep wasn't evident until Gen 4. DPP comes next due it being an extremely offensive gen while still being interesting thanks to the amount of stuff you can bring out combined with the surprise factor of no-preview. That said; BW Ubers comes next followed by XY (yep) and ORAS and SM for last in the order.

Sakito: Alright, what's your favorite Legendary theme in Pokémon?

Joyverse: It's a tie between Giratina-Origin's theme from Platinum and Necrozma's theme from USUM. Can't pick between those two.

Sakito: Who are the best people you've ever met on smogon?

Joyverse: Oh, boy. There are and have been a lot. I know a lot of them from an earlier stint in Pokémon Online but I'm to name people I've met in PS/Smogon they're probably TJ, Rageeeee, Lutra, xJoelituh, and Ransei from the RoA side of things. Eseque and the Indian/Bangla squad deserve a mention as they're a hecking jolly bunch to mix with. And last, and most important are the Mukkers (my UPL team) especially Absdaddy, Lasen, Tape, Reje, Wreckdra and Lucos and the people from Ubers whom I play and talk with daily (Shrang, Henri (;-;), Terra, Jase Duken, Dovah, Skysolo, and Rabbit) and there's also the new peeps at RoA such as Excal who're chill folks. I've many more to name but I'll stop here.

Sakito: Do you listen to music ? if yes what are you listening to?

Joyverse: I listen to a lot of music! Maybe too much. It's mostly metal (and its many subgenres), Folk Rock, Prog Rock, Hardcore Punk and occasional Electronica/EDM. Currently I'm listening to a rotation of Led Zeppelin, Warbringer, Death and, The Human Abstract. This'll change by next week but genres will be similar.

Sakito: We have similar tastes I would say, I love Led Zeppelin too! What was the best battle you've ever had on PS ? you can share a replay if you have.

Joyverse: I truly don't have any one best battle for myself. I've had some extremely bad matches and some awesome ones. My Ubers Classic and RoAlympics run were some quality games. Most of my best matches happen to be from roomtours so it's especially hard to pick one!

Sakito: Haha I see. Do you have any goals on smogon right now?

Joyverse: Hmm. It's been a while since I've assumed position as both a Tour Night host and Interviewer for RoA. I'd like to do more for this community one way or the other and possibly polish my battling skills in other tiers alongside which is not something I'm really focussed at.
