  16. You know, there are a lot of things here that I find very interesting. The whole technology behind the sensen is pretty damn neat, and I would absolutely love to study it, but the fact is, I've got someone who's trying to kill me pretty persistently and the only way to dodge them is to make sure I'm not where they're shooting. Which is doable, but irritatingly difficult, all considered.

  18. Other than that, though... the memory vendor sells a lot of useful things which I'd be happy to buy, but I can't actually USE any of them right now, so that's incredibly annoying. But at least it's something that I can use in later jumps - the equivalent of squeezing in an extra four hours a day of some sort of activity, as long as the benefits aren't physical. I'm not so much for living vicariously, but you know the real use for this? Education. Whether it's simple college lectures or experiments, experience in a given field, or combat training, it's pretty damn handy to have that option. Even if it makes no sense to HAVE that option. (Later experimentation shows that if I buy the memories for upload and then alter the timeline, I don't get to keep the benefit of having bought them, so I can't cheese it that way.)

  20. Really, other than that? I didn't derail the plot TOO much, though I did mitigate some of the damage that would otherwise have happened when the city flooded. I wasn't familiar with this place, and I was flying blind other than using the tablet to know the truth of what was going on, but it did at least give me the groundwork to start pushing in other ways. Sensen technology has interesting implications, but I can't fully endorse it without a LOT more safeguards - and so I pushed on the political spectrum to have it banned.

  22. Meanwhile the rest of the world was looking at France and going 'what the hell is wrong with you people'. Turns out sensen wasn't a globally endorsed technology, but a relatively recent innovation - and when the company's spokesman says in a news conference, "Ah, yes, 'Leapers'. The sub-human race spawned by excessive sensen overuse. We have dismissed this claim." Well. Let's just say that it raised too many eyebrows.
