  7. now i understand indian holidays can cancel meetings. sweet.

  9. According to some Buddhist interpretations, Gandhi Jayanti is you.
  10. infspire
  11. Do you see why?

  23. Well, some versions of Buddhism are pure solipsism, that is, everything the world is your mind.
  24. infspire
  25. Sorry, the entire world and universe are your mind.
  26. infspire
  27. So, your mind is generating the meeting and the cancellation, and the concept you chose to label as Gandhi Jayanti.
  28. infspire
  29. This is extremely incongruent with Western material realism -- the frame from which I'm currently speaking.
  30. infspire
  31. However, it is possible to incorporate some of those Buddhist notions into the material realism with what I call mini-solipsism in a way that is entirely congruent with contemporary psychology and neuroscience.
  32. infspire
  33. Sure, there's phenomena in the world that some humans have labeled as Gandhi Jayanti and they started doing that before your birth and others will do after your death. But your forever experience of Gandhi Jayanti is -- literally -- just phenomena in your head. You can never experience any of the phenomena 'over there' that your brain is labeling as Gandhi Jayanti.
  34. infspire
  35. The notion of 'over there' is a mental phenomenon. You've never been 'over there' in your lifetime.
  36. infspire
  37. 'India' is a mental phenomenon right here.
  38. infspire
  39. And 'Gandhi'. And 'Gandhi Jayanti'. It's literally you.

  42. Then, we might marry all of that with the concept of the eternal now, and so you've never been anywhere but here.
  43. infspire
  44. Your entire life is this moment.
  45. infspire
  46. And all of your experiences of Gandhi Jayanti are what you're feeling and thinking about it right now.
  47. infspire
  48. And as your thoughts change in the eternal now, Gandhi Jayanti fluxes in its nature, sometimes blinking out of existence entirely.

  64. That other chatstream is emerging from minds that aren't very aware of themselves and are on a continuum between what we commonly call 'beast' and 'human'.
  65. infspire
  66. Personally, I strongly disagree there is a single human species.
  67. infspire
  68. My veganism has dramatically enhanced this viewpoint.
  69. lockie has changed mode: +v Anon-a-mo
  70. infspire
  71. I agree there is one biological human species, but that definition isn't that relevant to the experiences of being a biological human.
  72. infspire
  73. I think what is relevant to the entities created in Class Biological Human are mental experiences, and for that space, there is an ecosystem of sub-species.
  74. infspire
  75. (You might notice a parallel to transgender thought in this argument at sex v. gender)
  76. infspire
  77. Sure, there are, apparently, only two biological sexes, but that isn't nearly as important as it might seem to beings with minds like ours.
  78. infspire
  79. Veganism is the most important worldview on Earth.
  80. infspire
  81. Essentially no humans recognize this.
  82. infspire
  83. Veganism is a worldview that is essentially and forever centered on the differences of beings of different appearances, empathy towards those differences, and intellectual curiosity in understanding what those differences are.

  86. It is the parent class of feminism, empathy in the LGBT space, empathy on racial differences.
  87. infspire
  88. It subsumes them all and nests them in a very broad context reaching back to the beginning of life on Earth -- and to all life in the universe across all times -- instead of just the minute concerns of a single species in their variations.
  89. infspire
  90. Veganism naturally concerns itself with climate change -- the second most important issue facing humanity -- as climate change is resulting in a biocide.
  91. infspire
  92. It doesn't have to try to care about climate change. It doesn't have to remember anything. It's just eternally sitting in the garden with the welfare of all lifeforms.
  93. infspire
  94. Veganism immediately shows the horrors and brutality in default humanity.
  95. infspire
  96. For example, imagine how in almost all worldviews and group experiences how positing there are different classes/species of humans would lead to mistreatment, enslavement, and genocide of the lower rankings.
  97. infspire
  98. However, veganism's opening proposition is that we're, a priori, in a diverse ecosystem extending back billions of years of which we're one species.
  99. infspire
  100. Veganism's central activity is, "How do I exist on this planet in harmony with other life forms so they can also achieve their life goals?"
  101. infspire
  102. It has never not contemplated how to exist in a world with a multitude of beings of different abilities, senses, body locomotions, and cognitive powers.

  105. Of all human systems, it is the very best equipped to manage a human society with a wide range in human capability -- a range which has never been wider in our history and which is only accelerating in this transhuman-emergence period.
  106. PelauPott has joined ([email protected])
  107. infspire
  108. Veganism is able to effortlessly celebrate that emergence.
  109. infspire
  110. That emergence is almost a death blow to our species under all other ideologies, as most human systems are fundamentally about acquiring power and there is no higher power than 'Those that sit atop the capacity hierarchy.'
  111. lockie has changed mode: +v PelauPott
  112. infspire
  113. So, as AI emerges in this era, what does it mean for the typical human? Ruin. It means there are AI warfare-acquisition struggles among nation states and sub-national actors, the goal of which is to become the master of AI, so they can expand digital totalitarianism across the globe.

  117. This most beautiful event in our species history -- the birth of first species child -- means, under non-veganism, collapse of the human world order.
  118. infspire
  119. Oh, animal husbandry is also the leading cause of climate change that will annihilate the planet as a good home for ourselves, our children, and grandchildren.
  120. 14:23 infspire
  121. Veganism's central project, then, naively results in our salvation.
  122. infspire
  123. (All serious climate change mitigation proposals result, at minimum, in a dramatic reduction in the consumption of animals, as this is necessary according to the science.)
