  3. 06[00:00] * LeAnn sits up quickly, her wings lengthening downwards until she seems to be enveloped in a long cape that covers her up completely
  4. 06[00:00] * Mayrah stares at the succubus with a vacant expression before shaking her head
  5. [00:00] <LeAnn> "It's just, they're always doing this in the old movies, laying around with their tops off on beaches, and I have no idea why, and I just thought that maybe if I tried it too I could figure it out..."
  6. [00:00] <LeAnn> "...I still don't get it really."
  7. 06[00:01] * ~Ash sort of wants to point it out but still doesn't say anything
  8. 06[00:02] * Mayrah looks up at the sky. "Is...isn't it so ya don't get tan lines from layin' around in the sun?"
  9. [00:03] <LeAnn> "...What are tan lines?"
  10. [00:04] <Mayrah> "...ya never been out in the sun before?"
  11. [00:05] <LeAnn> "N-not really..."
  12. [00:06] <Mayrah> "Well that explains it."
  13. [00:07] <Mayrah> "Basically, when ya stay out in the sun for a while, yer skin turns darker, and it's called a suntan.
  14. [00:07] <Mayrah> "
  15. [00:08] <Mayrah> "But the parts of yer skin that are covered up stay pale, and we call those tanlines."
  16. [00:10] <LeAnn> "Oh! Is that why some people have different skin colors in the old movies!?"
  17. 06[00:11] * ~Ash sneaks off by herself while the two talk
  18. [00:11] <Mayrah> "I guess? don't really watch a lot of movies."
  19. 06[00:11] * LeAnn licks her lips in concentration, and the skin visible above the cloak starts rapidly oscillating between different skin colors"

  21. 06[00:11] * Mayrah turns to see where ash went
  22. [00:13] <Mayrah> "Aw, she left."
  23. [00:14] <LeAnn> "Oh geez, I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare her off."
  24. [00:16] <Mayrah> "naw, it's fine. She's probably just had too much for one day."
  25. 06[00:16] * Mayrah sighs
  26. 06[00:16] * LeAnn reaches back and pulls on the top of her wings, which pulls into a hood that extends over her head until she's a featureless black obelisk
  27. [00:17] <Mayrah> "...how'd ya do that, anyway?"
  28. 06[00:18] * LeAnn can keep up that pretense for about 2 seconds before she starts choir singing under breath, which ends when she giggles and shakes the hood off her head
  29. [00:18] <LeAnn> "They're my wings! I can shapeshift them around, it's pretty convenient."
  30. [00:19] <Mayrah> "well I'll be. Got a pair of wings myself, but I can't do nothing as fancy as that with them."
  31. 06[00:21] * LeAnn winks, and a feeler of black shoots out and grabs LeAnn's discarded top, and when they part into their normal batlike shape it's around her chest again
  32. [00:21] <LeAnn> "That's ok, I still haven't figured out how to fly with the damned things, so you're probably ahead of me there."
  33. [00:21] <LeAnn> "(heh, damned)"
  34. 06[00:21] * Mayrah claps
  35. 06[00:26] * Mayrah closes her eyes and concentrates for a bit. as she does so, a pair of feathery wings with the same blue color as her hair sprout out of her back.
  36. 06[00:27] * Mayrah stretches her wings to their furthest wingspan and flaps them a bit, sighing contentedly. "Ah, feels good to let them out every now and then."
  37. [00:28] <LeAnn> "Oooh! They like so nice and soft! Could...do you mind if I touch them?"
  38. [00:28] <Mayrah> "...huh?"
  39. [00:28] <LeAnn> "...or should it be touch you? I don't actually know the etiquette."
  40. [00:29] <LeAnn> "Well, someone once told me mine feel like touching a shadow but I don't really have any idea what that means so I always wondered what real wings and feather felt like in comparison."
  41. 06[00:31] * Mayrah blushes a deep shade. "w-well, I...guess that would be okay."
  42. [00:31] <Mayrah> (deep shade of crimson*)
  43. 06[00:36] * LeAnn touches the leading edge of the wing and smoothly traces her fingers along it, taking care to follow the alignment of the feathers. At the tip, she shifts to a single finger and runs it down a pinion, only to place her hand back on the edge closer to Mayrah's back and begin tracing down again
  44. [00:38] <LeAnn> "They feel incredible, fluffy and soft, but you can feel the strength and structure underneath
  45. [00:39] <Mayrah> "th-they're nothin' special, really."
  46. 06[00:39] * LeAnn hums happily, stroking along where the wings meet the back before switching her attentions over to the other wing
  47. [00:40] <LeAnn> "They're lovely and you should feel proud of them. It's like a feast for the fingertips, nothing at all like the shapelessness of mine."
  48. 06[00:44] * LeAnn finishes her inspection, and leans back in the sand
  49. [00:44] <LeAnn> "So I don't think I caught your name?"
  50. [00:44] <Mayrah> "M-May..rah."
  51. [00:46] <LeAnn> "A lovely name to go with a lovely girl. Are you new here too?"
  52. 06[00:46] * Mayrah nods, avoiding eye contact
  53. 06[00:54] * LeAnn belatedly realizes that Mayrah's been fidgeting and avoiding eye contact, and so she stands up, bending over to dust the sand off her
  54. [00:55] <LeAnn> "I'm LeAnn Anshe, I'm new here too. I'm just over in room 411, so if you need some help or just want to spend some time together, just knock, we can help each other out!"
  55. [00:56] <Mayrah> "That's...right next to my room."
  56. 06[00:58] * LeAnn beams a smile at her "All the better then, you could even just knock on the wall if you want to bring me over!"
  57. 06[00:59] * LeAnn whips her foot out to grab the towel between her toes and sling it over her shoulder, and then sashays back towards the school building
