  1. I hate this town.
  2. It’s filled with memories I want to forget.
  3. Go to school everyday, talk with friends, and go home to the house I don’t even want to return to.
  4. Will something ever happen to change my li-
  5.
  6. I woke up with a jolt and felt the light pour into my room as someone opened the curtains.
  7.
  8. “Rise and shine!”
  9. Great. It was my childhood friend, Sodomi, whom I had no sexual attraction to whatsoever. One would question how she even got into my house every morning since my parents were away on a business trip. However, like every other morning, I was too edgy to care. Looking outside, the weather was blazing hot and the cries of the cicadas could be heard, indicating another typical summer’s day.
  10.
  11. “You’re going to be late…”
  12. Sodomi once again tried to appeal to my senses, but I was still groggy from telling ghost stories with my friends earlier until midnight. However, I then looked at the clock. 7…7:30am…already!? I hastened downstairs, putting on my uniform while simultaneously traversing the stairs. After quickly toasting some bread, I stuck it in my mouth and rushed out of the door. Hopefully Sodomi would lock up after me using the spare key that she must have found underneath the mat.

  14. My school was located near the top of a hill, and naturally, it always made life difficult for me. Rarely, if I ever came early enough, I would walk slowly up the hill and observe the torment it gave others, while enjoying the breeze of the wind and the flutter of the cherry blossom petals. Today was one of those late days though. I had no time to gaze at the trees as I ran up the hill, which was by this time, devoid of students. As I turned around the final corner, (in a record time of 11 minutes and 34 seconds, might I add) I saw a small girl in our school uniform who was walking with her head down away from the school. I didn’t have time to stop and collided into the girl. I profusely apologized, however, as we got up, she appeared unfazed, collected herself, and trudged down the hill. I debated as to whether I should stop her and ask why she was heading away from the school when homeroom was about to start, but after checking my watch, I realized that I didn’t have time. If I was late again, ‘Peter le Beater’ would be after me.

  16. “Yo, what was our Japanese homework? I spent all night plotting on how to get all the bitches…This time I’m sure it’ll work!”
  17. I lazily faced the window as my best friend and part time student attempted to talk to me. He was one of those people who were convinced that they had everything in the world, good looks, money and respect. I’m sure that everyone would attest to the fact that he had none of those, and was destined to be one of those ‘side characters’ that he lamented.
  18.
  19. “Hey, you listenin’ to me? Now listen up good, if you help me with my plan, you can also get the bitches.”
  20. As usual, bad grammar and indecent and lewd thoughts seemed to just permeate from his mind. I tried to ignore him as I went about examining a strange letter than I found in my shoe locker.
  21.
  22. “Meet me afterschool behind the old gym. I have something to tell you.”
  23. Now, people normally called me dense, but I was pretty sure that this was a trap set up by my eternal enemies, the Student Council. A while back, I had decided that I would rip down all the posters in the school and replace them with posters of my fabulous best friend and part time student. Naturally, he got the rap for it, but I knew that they had suspected me. After all, my friend wouldn’t be able to even afford photocopying 30 coloured pieces of A4 paper. Crumpling the letter and throwing it into the bin, I casually walked out of my English class. Who needs filthy English, anyhow?
  24.
  25. I decided to head home to reinforce my delinquent image. After carefully checking that my shirt was untucked, my singlet visible and my shirt loose, I proceeded to stride down the hill. It wasn’t even particularly windy, but my hair fluttered in the wind with the bright pink petals that complimented the dark colour of my singlet.
  26.
  27. “Heck, I must stand out so much right now, my dark and edgy meter must be going through the roof!”
  28. With this in mind, I thought I could descend the hill, one footstep at a time. Maybe it’s for the best best that nothing would change for the time being.
