  6. Wavetable Clock: This parameter controls the speed of the amplitude-integrated wavetable, ranging from 1 to 128. By using fixed values, W.I.S.E. ensures rhythmic integrity, making it particularly effective for synchronized sample playback in conjunction with Ableton Live.

  8. Experimental Controls (Use at Your Own Risk! May cause clicks or distortions):
  9. • FOLD WAVE: With a range of 0 to 1, setting this parameter below 1 effectively shortens the duration of the wavetable. The outcome can be non-linear and may disrupt rhythm. Use this parameter carefully, especially if rhythmic cohesion is crucial.
  10. • FOLD SAMPLE: This parameter also ranges from 0 to 1 and shortens the sample duration. Due to its 0 to 1 range and exponential scaling, the behavior is unpredictable and varies depending on whether the sample is short or long. Exercise caution when using this feature.

  12. MIDI Mode Buttons: This section features two toggle buttons, [Hz] and [Gate], each affecting different aspects of W.I.S.E.'s performance.
  13. • [Hz] Mode: When activated, this mode captures incoming MIDI Note values to set the frequency, giving W.I.S.E. a synth-like behavior.
  14. • [Gate] Mode: This mode controls the sample duration based on the incoming MIDI Notes. When turned on, the sample will play for the duration of the MIDI note. When turned off, the sample will play until its own end. For lengthy samples that keep playing, a quick on-and-off toggle of this button will stop the playback.

  16. Tune/Speed: This dial allows for manual control over the sample pitch range by multiplying the incoming amplitude values for the value on this parameter. Note that settings made via the Integral Tune will override any adjustments made here.

  18. Fine Tune: This interactive number box allows for a more precise control over the Tune/Speed parameter by enabling the setting of higher-res float values.

  20. Amount: Serving as a sort of WET/DRY control, this parameter dictates the extent to which the wavetable amplitudes impact the target sampler's playback speed. The values range from 0 to 1, with 0 meaning no effect and 1 meaning full effect.
  21. It's worth noting that certain values—namely 0, 0.25, 0.5, and 1—are likely to produce a more consistent behavior in W.I.S.E. This is because these specific values serve as scalar multipliers for the wavetable amplitudes that control the sample playback speeds.   23. Wavetable Phase: This parameter is controlled by a number box that allows values between 0 and 4096, determining the phase position of the wavetable.
  24. • Quick Phase Buttons: For easy phase adjustment and rhythmic integrity, three buttons—0, 1024, and 2048—are provided. These instantly set the phase to the beginning, 1/4, or 1/2 of the wavetable's duration, respectively.
  25. • RND Button: For those looking to quickly experiment with different phase settings, the RND button randomizes the phase value. This is useful for instant texture and rhythmic variations.

  27. Wavetable UI and Sample Interface:
  28. • Wavetable UI: Displays the currently selected wavetable used for modulating playback, along with its phase position.
  29. • Sample Interface: Shows the waveform of the loaded sample. Simply drag and drop a sample here to load it into W.I.S.E.
  30. (For those looking to push creative boundaries, you can also drag and drop a sample into the Wavetable UI. This will utilize its amplitude to control the playback speed of the target sample.
  31. Note: This device is optimized for use with preset wavetables that have a duration of 4096 samples. If a custom sample with a different duration is loaded into the Wavetable UI, the Wavetable Phase parameter will have minimal to no effect.)

  33. Wavetable Section:
  34. • Dropdown Menu: Allows you to select one of the preset amplitude-integrated wavetables for modulating your sample's playback.
  35. • Reset Button: Provides the option to manually reset the wave phase, or do so via Live automation.
  36. • Load Button: Enables you to browse your system and load a custom wavetable or sample for controlling playback speed. This is particularly useful for incorporating updated integrated-wavetables as they become available.

  38. Integral Tune:
  39. • These buttons allow you to select fixed pitch transposition values of 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, or 4. These primarily affect the pitch of the target sample.
  40. • The chosen values act as multipliers for the wavetable amplitude, helping to maintain rhythm in your sample playback.
  41. • Due to their multiplicative nature, these values will shift the pitch of the target sample in octave intervals, providing a harmonically coherent transposition.

  45. Frequency Monitor: This numerical display shows the current frequency value. At this time, it serves solely as a monitoring tool and is not interactive.
