  1. couple of things to set up the C4D render so it feels more like octane:

  5. -physical render: progressive
  6. -GI: progressive, no prepass
  7.  
  8. materials

  10. -reflectance: GGX, specular strength 0, set up fresnel
  11. -optional: set the diffuse color up in the reflectance channel as the first layer using Oren-Nayar or Lambertian, then you dont even need to turn GI on anymore in the C4D settings (thx @DinoMFX) see also http://www.c4d.cz/article.aspx?a=127
