it unlocks many cool features!
- couple of things to set up the C4D render so it feels more like octane:
- rendersetting
- -physical render: progressive
- -GI: progressive, no prepass
- materials
- -reflectance: GGX, specular strength 0, set up fresnel
- -optional: set the diffuse color up in the reflectance channel as the first layer using Oren-Nayar or Lambertian, then you dont even need to turn GI on anymore in the C4D settings (thx @DinoMFX) see also http://www.c4d.cz/article.aspx?a=127
- lights
- -Area light, area shadows, falloff: inverse square, show in render, show in specular
