- - An Offensive Win Condition is an offensive way that you can win such as eliminating your opponent's Landorus-T and sweeping with Choice Scarf Excadrill's Earthquake or Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X
- - A Defensive Win Condition is a bulky Pokemon that can wall and defeat your opponent's entire team such as eliminating your opponent's Breloom and sweeping with Curse Gastrodon
- - Lead Matchup is what position you are in at turn one after you choose your lead. The most beneficial way to get a favorable lead match up is to analyze your opponent's team and decide what they are most likely to lead with and counter that lead accordingly. An example would be a lead matchup of suicide lead Garchomp vs Mega Diancie, this matchup unfavorable for the Garchomp user.
- - Teambuilding trends are changes in teambuilding that are indicative of the current metagame such as the recent influx of Specially Defensive Jirachi and Choice Scarf Landorus-T.
- - A check is a Pokemon that can come in on a free switch and beat something or switch in one time at most and beat something, but a counter is a Pokemon that can repeatedly switch into an opposing Pokemon and beat it reliably. An example of a check to something is how Weavile can check Latios, but it can't switch into Draco Meteor. However, a counter to something is like how Chansey is a counter to Nidoking since it can switch into it and heal off the damage as much as it wants to.
