Wrath and Duty 12

<StaffenGM> On the street lies the shattered remains of the neutralized auto-emplacements, and countless PDF.
<StaffenGM> A way into the Parliamentary spire lies before you; and in the distance, sirens blare.
<StaffenGM> The time to act is now.
<Priad> "Well, shall we brothers?"
<Draco> "What about the minefield?"
<Priad> "Shoot the mines, clear a path."
* Priad starts making his way downstairs, switching the selector of his bolter to normal bolt rounds.
* Draco follows behind the apothecary.
* Herbert charges up his jump-pack and launches across the mine-riddled street, landing on the opposite side.
<Priad> +We shall be with you in a moment, brother, we'll start clearing a way from our side.+
<Priad> The apothecary stops sevral meters from the start of the minefield once he's back on the ground level.
<Draco> "We could trigger the minefield with a grenade."
<Herbert> Herbert grabs the corpse of a traitor PDF trooper, and hurls it at the minefield.
* Priad watches Herbert do this, just as Draco finished giving his suggestion.
<Draco> "Or that could work."
<StaffenGM> Herbert's throw goes slightly awry, but still manages to detonate a cluster of landmines -- clearing a good patch of the street. The path forwards, however, is still littered with them.
<Priad> "Give it a go with a frag, brother Draco."
* Draco throws a Frag grenade into the minefield.
<StaffenGM> The grenade's explosion sets off a renewed chain of mines, rendering the path traversable.
* Draco starts moving through the 'cleared' minefield.
* Priad runs through the hopefully, cleared path, following behind Draco.
<StaffenGM> Draco, on his way across, stumbles through an awkward patch. A blast detonates at his feet, but the Techmarine emerges from the smoke still running, unhindered. A second one goes off moments later, enwreathing him in black smoke -- but yet again failing to disrupt his stride.
<Draco> "A mild annoyance."
<Priad> +Hmph, must be defective mines.+
<Priad> Once on the other side Priad starts leading the kill-team towards the parliamentary spire.
<Priad> +Hmm, given what we know, the bunker is in the east wing, and enemy reinforcements seem to be converging from the south and east. We should proceed inside, and swing round to approach from the north. Thoughts, brothers?+
<Herbert> +Breach now, from the closest entry point. We utilize our advantage of speed before the reinforcements reach the spire.+
<Draco> "Understood."
<Priad> +Very well, team leader. Lead on.+
* Herbert Rushes forward, ready to breach the ornate doors.
<StaffenGM> As the Kill-team brushes past the southeastern hedge gardens on the path to the east wing, Herbert and Priad bring a halt just in time to avoid a rain of bullets from the doorway. The gargantuan doors are defended.
<Priad> "And here I was thinking it would be easy."
<Draco> +Two Heavy Bolters emplacements to the sides of the door. The Autocannon is in the doorway.+
* Herbert aims with his side-arm, and fires off two shots against the autocannon position.
<Herbert> The first of the rounds strikes at the plating protecting the gunner. The second strikes on the same spot, punching through the plating, molten metal goring the gunner behind.
<Priad> Trying to follow Herbert's example he lines up a shot with his bolter at the right Heavy Bolter emplacement, his shots however go awry.
* Draco fires a Frag Missile at one of the Heavy Bolter emplacement. He kills 2 guardsmen and destroys the Heavy bolter emplacement.
<StaffenGM> As the heavy bolter's fire lightens up, a soft humming comes from around the bend of the eastern sub-spire:
<StaffenGM> A floating vehicle, sleek and painted in a strange, mottled camouflage, slowly drifts into the courtyard.
<Priad> "That changes things."
* Herbert launches himself towards the doors
<Priad> Noting the new enemy on the field and the gun emplacements being distracted, Priad decides to start heading closer to the objective. That is he starts to sprint towards the doors.
* Draco sprints toward to the door and pushes Priad into the doorway so they could escape the new threat.
<Priad> The Apothecary is bowled over, flying through the door as Draco passes by him. He rolls and recovers inside.
* Herbert looks back, surprised to see his usually slow comrades have made it in.
<Priad> +I'd appreciate a warning next time, Techmarine.+
<Draco> +There was no time for a warning.+
* Invictus summons up the powers from the Immaterium to create a force dome to protect the group.
<StaffenGM> Priad demonstrates truly preternatural reflexes when he drops to the ground -- precisely in time to avoid a blast from the grav-tank outside. The force of the annihilating blast punches a molten hole clear through the great spire gate, knocking the door closed with such force it bounces back open again.
<StaffenGM> Meanwhile, the surviving autocannon operator, watching events, decides that now is the time to make his exit, and flees, throwing a grenade onto the munitions bins for his emplacement.
<Priad> Seeing the fleeing PDF toss a grenage on the munitions of the gun emplacement, Priad's first instinct is to kick it away. And boy does he kick it, instead of exploding and potentially detonating the Auto-Cannons ammo it explodes against a wall on the other side of the hall, harming only the upholstery.
* Draco moves eastward and hides behind the pillar.
* Invictus makes his way eastward with Draco though somewhat behind as he maintains his force dome.
<StaffenGM> The shriek of turbofans fills the room: two large xenos drones fly into the room from the opened doorway -- their motorized gun barrels spinning.
* Herbert blasts into the air, striking one of the drones mid-flight with his roaring chainsword.
* Draco uses his bolter with his left hand and destroys the drone.
* Invictus moves forward, keeping his force dome, making his way to Draco's position.
<Priad> Fire a burst of bolt shells at the remaining drone while on his back. He unfortunately misses. The Emperor doesn't seem to like him aiming today.
<StaffenGM> Priad, already at ground level, yet again escapes fate with his life intact by rolling away as another blast perforates the mighty doors of the spire wing. The projectile's passage vaporizes the sandbags which made up the flank of the autocannon emplacement, but beyond being blasted with sand, Priad is unscathed.
<Priad> "I will be sure to hunt down and kill that vile xenos contraption."
