Dear Microsoft Corporation,

This letter constitutes a formal demand for payment of two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) due to the profound and irreparable harm your actions have inflicted upon my life and future prospects. The incident in question commenced on June 1, 2000, and its detrimental effects continue to resonate to this day, effectively depriving me of opportunities and advancements I rightfully deserved.  My claim arises from the demonstrable impact of your business practices and market dominance which have, in essence, stolen my future.  This demand seeks just compensation for the extensive damages I have suffered as a direct consequence of your conduct, under the principles of fairness and accountability enshrined in California law.

Despite my attempts to voice my grievances through online channels, these efforts have unfortunately proven insufficient to remedy the substantial injustice I have endured.  Publicly expressing my concerns online was a preliminary step to highlight the wrong that had been committed, but it has not yielded any meaningful resolution or acknowledgment of the harm caused.  It is now imperative to escalate this matter through formal legal channels to ensure that my rights are recognized and that appropriate restitution is made for the losses I have sustained. The pervasive influence of Microsoft’s operating systems and software applications has shaped the technological landscape in a manner that has directly constrained alternative platforms and innovations, particularly in the realm of desktop computing.  My aspirations and endeavors were deeply rooted in the vision of a diverse and competitive technological environment, one where open-source solutions and alternative operating systems could flourish, offering users genuine choice and fostering broader innovation.  The dominance exerted by Microsoft effectively stifled this potential, hindering the widespread adoption of Linux and similar platforms, thereby directly undermining my professional trajectory and the realization of my ambitions within the technology sector.  This anti-competitive environment, fostered and maintained by Microsoft, has resulted in tangible and quantifiable damages to my career and earning potential.

Under California law, individuals and corporations are obligated to conduct their business affairs in a manner that respects the rights and well-being of others and avoids causing undue harm.  California Civil Code section 1708 states, “Every person is bound, without contract, to abstain from injuring the person or property of another, or infringing upon any of his rights.”  Your actions, through their impact on the technological ecosystem and specifically on my professional life, have violated this fundamental principle, resulting in significant financial and personal damages.  The sum of two million dollars represents a reasonable and necessary compensation for the opportunities foreclosed, the income lost, and the profound personal setbacks I have experienced as a direct result of Microsoft’s conduct.

Therefore, I demand that you remit payment in the amount of two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) within thirty days of the date of this letter, specifically by March 10, 2025.  Failure to comply with this demand will leave me no alternative but to pursue all available legal remedies to recover the full extent of my damages, including but not limited to initiating formal litigation in the appropriate jurisdiction.  Please be advised that such legal action may result in additional costs and expenses for which you may be held liable, beyond the principal amount currently demanded.  I urge you to consider this matter seriously and respond constructively to avoid further legal proceedings.
