  1. "In pods you have come, in caskets you will go!"
  2. The Sergeant
  3.
  4. Corpus is one of the four main antagonistic factions in Warframe, a game about space ninjas. Corpus are the remnants of a much larger intergalactic federation of businessmen, collectively referred to as corpus, but after incidents involving space aliens, the capital-c Corpus is all that’s left. The beliefs of the previous group, presumably just standard capitalistic nonsense, has mutated into what functionally can be described as a religion based around capitalism.
  5.
  6. Corpus are well known for being unlikable pricks, with the most recent update in the game giving a good look at their utter atrocities, involving outright slaving and mutilating people who skimped out on paying debts. Corpus agents are normally never seen by the public, as they instead tend to use robotic proxies in order to conduct business deals, or perform combat, in absolute safety.
  7.
  8. The Sergeant is not one of those pansies. The Sergeant comes for your Tenno head himself, because he’s no coward. The Sergeant is the boss of the moon Phobos and takes the look of a generic Corpus Crewman. He becomes targeted for assassination by the Tenno for stealing Tenno stasis pods and harvesting the Tenno inside in order to sell on the black market, because like I said, Corpus sucks.
  9.
  10. The Sergeant is considered the weakest boss in the game by most people, being almost completely forgettable, except for his hilarious dialog and bizarre past. You see, in earlier builds of the game, back when all the bosses were recolored generic Goombas, Sarge was named Nef Anyo, a name that was later removed from Sarge, and put onto an altogether more important and hateable character. The Sergeant is one of a few remnants of an era gone by, and who knows how much longer he has left?
  11.
  12. The Sergeant joins this gathering of freaks armed with a bit more than he has in his original fight, more or less representing Corpus as a whole. Because he’s a big enough badass to do that.
  13.
  14. Stats
  15. Weight – 110
  16. Walk Speed – 0.76
  17. Run Speed – 1.5
  18. Air Speed – 0.86
  19. Fall Speed – 1.33
  20.
  21. The Sarge isn’t exactly fast. His run and walk are both slow, and he’s no good in the air. He’s one of the heaviest characters, without going into super heavyweight territory at least. His jumps are mediocre at best, reaching 4 Blocks on the first jump and an extra 2.5 on the second jump. Sergeant is around the size of Samus, though slightly taller thanks to his trash can head, even while hunching a bit. He’s a bit wider as well, due to being broader. His gun’s nozzle makes him look a bit wider, but it isn’t part of his hitbox.
  22.
  23. Specials
  24. Neutral Special – Flash Bang
  25. The Sergeant pulls out a grenade, and in a very prolonged animation, tosses it at his feet, causing an explosion of gas and light around him. The explosion clears quickly, leaving nothing where the Sarge was! Actually, he’s turned invisible! This behaves like getting the cloaking device (RIP in piss) from Melee, except with the bonus of not revealing you when you move, only showing basic dust effects and such.
  26.
  27. It has a few negatives added, however. Using any attack will cause the cloak to come off, being hit or taking any form of knockback will also cause Sarge to be revealed. It also lasts a reduced 7 seconds compared to the cloaking device’s 10 seconds. After the invisibility wears off, though, Sergeant can’t use it again for another 5 seconds, as it has to recharge. The use of this invisibility is obvious, especially with how slow Sergeant is, it’s a welcome escape tool.
  28.
  29. To counter any smart-aleck tactics, the flash bang also has a non-damaging stun hitbox once it explodes. It reaches out half a Block on either side of the Sarge and lasts for a longer than it looks. An opponent hit by it will be put into Deku Nut stun, but only lasting half as long. This, obviously, allows Sergeant to use this while not being instantly knocked out of it, if the moment arises.
  30.
  31. As mentioned in the first paragraph, this attack has a prolonged start-up animation, taking roughly as long as it takes for Simon to throw his axe. This means that actually hitting with the flash bang hitbox can be difficult, but you won’t even really need it if you play well. As an upside, instead of also having interminable endlag like the axe, Sergeant can move again right after the hitbox disappears, around frame 45 or so, which is before the smoke from the flash bang even disappears.
