- I would like to preface this with the fact that we don't need damage increases. This has specifically to do with the nature of the rotation and how I believe that Fury's rotation is in a worse state than it's ever been. Everything comes down to Bloodthirst.
- BT's crit create both enrage as well as a stack of Raging Blow. BT then also has a chance of creating Bloodsurge. Colossus Smash also has a chance to create enrage, but no one ever relies on this happen. Then for dead moments or times when you don't have enrage for CS you have Berserker rage.
- Some changes (for the rotation) were good since Cata and I'll list them below.
- Positive Changes
- BT - grants 10 rage, x2 chance to crit, and is no longer on a 3 second cooldown.
- Raging Blow - costs 10 rage and Changed to a charge system rather than a CD with requirement of being enraged
- Colossus Smash - No rage cost
- The above changes were great and with the low rage cost of abilities, the effect of missing multiple times on white hits was diminished.
- Negative Changes
- Enrage - moved onto CS and BT crits
- Bloodthirst - now controls your entire rotation. If it doesn't do something, you're essentially screwed until your next Bloodthirst where you roll the dice again.
- Neutral Changes
- Flurry - essentially became Cata's enrage in terms of how it's applied
- Stance Dancing - Removed from abilities, but added for defensive/offensive micro
- To summarize, Fury's rotation depends on Bloodthirst specifically doing something. This causes huge swings in damage. You can go from the top of the meter to the bottom without it being the fault of the player. I don't think any class/spec swings as hard as Fury does with raw RNG.
- What causes this? unlucky crit chains. Why does the whole basis of our rotation need to be reliant on such an inconsistent stat. I don't mind Fury being a crit reliant spec (it has always been this). What I do mind however is that when a single ability doesn't crit and also doesn't proc bloodsurge, you have nothing left to press. Beyond this, without enrage up, there is no reason to use rage unless you are rage capped. Your raw damage per rage is that of a wet noodle.
- This issue will subside as we get larger pools of crit % but our ability to press buttons shouldn't be dependent on gear level. That's a horrible model.
- What I think should be done is similar to what arms is currently. Using mortal strike creates a charge of overpower (2 next patch).
- Remember, I don't want our damage to necessarily change, so value tuning would have to occur.
- Bloodthirst - Remove BT's ability to crit 2x as much and increase the damage it does accordingly.
- Using BT grants one charge of Raging blow. If you crit with BT, you gain 2 charges of raging blow.
- Colossus Smash - No change
- Enrage - Double its duration to account for BT critting less often.
- I'm sure other people can come up with some non-ridiculous changes that could benefit our rotation. Feel free to reply with them.
- I honestly wouldn't mind the rotation being back to the way it was in cataclysm with the addition of the positive changes I listed at the top of this thread.
