  1. Alfred and Pole, the forbidden love story
  2. Alfred had been turned on all day. Beads of sweat dripped off his bulb. God he wished she went to bed soon. The red haired creature finally wished her followers a goodnight, and wandered over to him. Climbing over Baenana and a mountain of gluten free biscuit wrappers, she finally reached him.
  3. “I’ll see you tomorrow, we have a big day. We finally clear out the cucumbers.”
  4. She sighs, looking at the kitchen, mould now climbing the walls out of the discarded water bottle. She had said the same thing for months. Her hand reaches behind his head, feeling for the button. Finally finding it, she flicks it, and he got the sweet release.
  5. Climbing across the room once more, she softly says goodnight to each of her pets. Spending some time on the lizard tied to the radiator, he softly whimpers as she warns him to stay away from the fridge.
  6. As the main light clicks, plunging the room into darkness, he hears her climb into bed and softly start snoring. Sparing a thought for Dave, Alfred finally turned his attention to the only thing giving his life meaning.
  7. Glistening in the light coming through the blinds, the stainless steel stayed motionless. But he knew, she was thinking about him. The bolts attaching her to the floor and ceiling groaned slightly, the same as every night as she tried to free herself. Bearing the worst of their owner, Pole had to handle her entire weight. She would randomly launch across the room and try to climb her. Sometimes in a strange dragon costume, sometimes naked.
  8. To keep her from running, she had installed two cruel devices at each end. One into the floor, one into the ceiling. For “safety” she said. Yeah, for hers he thought. Alfred slowly moved across the room, as everyone gathered around Pole.
  9. “what a day!” groaned Baenana, lighting a ‘cigarette’
  10. “Does she ever stop eating?!” Whined the fridge. “My hinges are aching”
  11. “How you holding up Pole” enquired Alfred.
  12. “Hanging in there, you?” Responded Pole
  13. “Another day in paradise” said Alfred sarcastically.
  14. “What’s the plan for tonight then?” Asked Chair.
  15. Another of the creatures’ tools, Chair spent his day being sat on. Thankfully, she was small. But, she had a tendency to bounce. He knew one day, his time would come, just like the one before him, to live in the sweet room in the sky. She told her fans it was her mums’. They wished.
  16. “I have a plan to get out of this hell hole” said Alfred, “but we need to get Pole out of here. I won’t leave without her.”
  17. The way Alfred felt about Pole could hardly be expressed. He loved everything about her. The rigidness, the texture, the way she shimmered on a hot summers day. She felt the same way about him, he hoped. They never had time together with everyone around, so intimate moments were hard to come by.
  18. Pole shook, jingling her restraints. “I’m not going anywhere” sighed Pole
  19. “Together, we can change that.” Said Pole in a determined voice.
  20. “Alfred won’t give up, you’re the light of his life” sniggered Baenana
  21. As they gathered round, Alfred described his plan to the group. Each nodded, understanding easily. Taking up positions, the Fridge took a run up against Pole. A clang rang out through the room. Silence took the room as they waited to see if the creature woke. Time stopped for a moment, before a snore came through the door.
  22. It did slowly open however, and a black and white face emerged.
  23. “What the fuck do you think you are doing!” Said Dave in a hushed voice. Drool stuck to the top of his head like silly string.
  24. “You’re lucky she’s out like a log tonight, or we’d all end up like Lizzy here” He continued, giving a small kick to the creature attached to the radiator.
  25. “We’re breaking out, wanna come with?” asked the chair excitedly.
  26. “Fuck no I’m not crazy. That’s a death sentence” Dave yawned, wandering back towards the bedroom door. Shutting it softly behind him, he whispered “Be careful”
  27. “Leave me. I’m stuck” cried Pole softly.
  28. “Don’t lose hope Pole” Alfred said, softly stroking Pole’s midsection. “One day, we will all be free.”
  29. As the sun began to rise, they all said farewell. Moving back to their original positions, the bed creaked next door. As the day began anew, Alfred thought about Pole, and him, imagining the life he always wanted. Free, happy, and most importantly, together.
