  1. from /hhg/ Helluva Hotel general #667
  2. ----------
  3. >they become just like I.M.P., but they're still holier-than-thou hypocrites and rcists towards imps
  4. >despite their visual badass upgrade, they get their asses handed to them in a fair fight
  5. >so much so that I.M.P. (or, at least Moxxie) actually feels kinda sorry for them
  6. -
  7. Crazed vigilante cherubs fukken when?
  8. -
  9. I dont get the whole "holier than thou"
  10. They seemed to be unusually kind and forgiving to a collection of violent assassins who frequently murder humans
  11. -
  12. Yeah but the cracks in the facade came through eventually with the whole "your kind is scm" comment from the one guy.
  13. -
  14. it's because of "muh moral relativism" excuse from the morally bankrupt
  15. >>37086022
  16. >with the whole "your kind is sum" comment from the one guy.
  17. well, they are, that's the point
  18. -
  19. Yeah but they are scum, they're hellborn demons
  20. It's pretty obvious that heaven has some deep issues going on, but hell does everything they do and more, so they have no room to complain about people calling them out for what they are
  21. -
  22. Yeah but IMP has embraced the overwhelming shttiness of everything and doesn't pretend like it doesn't suck. CHERUB keeps trying to grab the corners of your mouth and force you to smile until they hit their breaking point and reveal that they're just as nasty as the imps.
  23. -----------
  24. I see they're going for the old testament wrathful G-d approach.
  25. -
  26. why does it not upload my damn images
  27. -
  28. is that fcking Gerber?!
  29. -
  30. I think it is Gerbert
  31. -
  32. fck, I can't believe I remember that acid trip of a christian show.
  33. -----------
  34. Is someone going to write up this week's massacre as an SCP doc?
  35. -
  36. No, because humans in this universe are braindead rtrds who can barely wipe their own ass without fcking up
  37. --------------
  38. So this episode just shts all over Hazbin then? Since there truly is no redemption and you are damned to hell regardless if you are remorseful. Regardless if they do managed to get into heaven. They wouldn't be much better off either.
  39. -
  40. Well, we were only shown the outskirts of Heaven, and only its low-level inhabitants.
  41. It's a good hint that something has befouled Heaven, but it doesn't ultimately spell doom for the Hotel's success.
  42. But this definitely seems like a no-Purgatory world, since Heaven is TRYING to keep people on the path of good, whilst Hell is just taking heads.
  43. ----------------------------------------
  44. >They seemed to be unusually kind and forgiving to a collection of violent assassins who frequently murder humans
  45. Customer services and HR usually get the necessary training to put up with assholes. They just eventually cracked.
  46.
  47. Also, like some anons said before: these guys tried to save ONE asshole, banking on the fact that he'll make the world a better place with his wealth, all the while allowing the collection of violent assassins to continue klling people.
  48. And that's without mention all the horrors of history where Heaven just "LOL can't intervene"-d.
  49. I mean, what does that say?
  50. That every human who died on the battlefield, every last man, woman and child who perished in the gas chambers, gulags, klling fields, nuclear blasts and whatnot were all SO sinful that they were beyond saving?
  51. DESPITE the fact that many had to endure a very man-made Hell on Earth before they died?
  52.
  53. Honestly, C.H.E.R.U.B. feels like it was set up just recently to counter I.M.P., in a vain attempt to save face by those in Heaven who are either not elitists, OR care enough about their collective image to organize such a service.
  54. -----------------------
  55. >helluva boss retroactively makes hazbin hotel pointless
  56. >a24 gets wind of this, drops the season
  57. >cue a lame duck one time season of hazbin hotel that ends with 9/10ths of the arcs completely unresolved
  58. -
  59. Do you get off to this sht or something?
  60. -
  61. Its just an unlikely hypothetical scenario my diseased mind cooked up
  62. But yes I get off to everything, constant mturbion and such
  63. -
  64. If you're anticipating the worst then you can only be pleasantly surprised Anon.
  65. ---------------
  66. A24 is gonna make the show terrible
  67. -
  68. Care to elaborate on how?
  69. -
  70. No
  71. ---------------------------------
  72. I don't know that I'd call whatshisnuts remorseful. More like he was ready to kll himself because he wasn't young enough to party like the wolf of wall street anymore, then he realized he could still just blow money on material goods for himself. That was all that was motivating him to live. He didn't express any remorse for presumably more or less being the De Beers of technology.
  73. -
  74. I was talking about the cherubs. The old man was never a good person just looking at how he acted.
  75. -----------------------------------
  76. I think the big problem with Episode 4 is that everything we learned in this episode was already told to us months ago in the Cherub commercial teaser.
  77. ------------------------------------
  78. Big companies take the soul out of soulfull things
  79. -
  80. a24 isn't THAT big, and hazbin is very on brand for the things they like to produce
  81. I doubt they're gonna interfere
  82. -
  83. Anon, A24 produced the Lighthouse
  84. -
  85. I am still shocked at how good that movie was, A movie about 2 people stuck on a small island... And it was somehow executed fcking perfectly to the point where no other movie can touch it. It helps their cast was top notch as well.
  86. ------------------------------------
  87. Possibilities
  88. >Angelic beings are held to more stringent standards than mortal souls. Expected to behave in what we would describe as a saintly fashion without fail, while mortals can in fact do good works to get into Heaven, rather than any of that crap about just having faith or being predestined.
  89.
  90. >What one anon above said about there being a "sickness" in heaven in the form of a cult-level demand for purity (impossible standards and no forgiveness) and hypocrisy
  91. Which may or may not be a recent development (Adina just got a promotion a few centuries ago and the first thing she said was "there's going to be some changes around here"). The rest of the cherubs who booted out the trio after a quick paperwork review are complicit through complacency; "sure I support quintupling fines for speeding tickets, teach those bad drivers a lesson" when they've never gotten a speeding ticket. In this case it leaves the door open for Charlie's efforts rippling out and causing some shifting and shuffling in Heaven when angels start seeing demons who seem to qualify for ascending out of the pit, but then the head of the exterminators is all like "whoah whoah whoa we can't just cancel the cleanse, we do the cleanse every year, we've been gearing up since July."
  92. -
  93. It could be that god has lost the wheel and is no longer controlling heaven or creation itself, rather he's been lulled into a stupor with false reports from a cadre of sycophants who are possibly loyal to Adina
  94. However, judging from the things we saw in Episode 2 about creation itself ending, and the hellquake that just happened, things are looking to be changing and fast
  95. Maybe Helluva Bosses end of season 1 will set the stage for future plot developments in Hazbin Hotel
  96. -------
  97. What do angels do being stuck on Earth?
  98.
  99. Fallen Angel Collin?
  100. -
  101. >What do angels do being stuck on Earth?
  102. Have you read Preacher?
  103. -
  104. >Have you read Preacher?
  105. weren't they on an official mission?
  106. ----------------------------------
  107. >Anyone feel that this most recent episode felt really hollow?
  108. >their doesn't seem to be very much to talk about beyond what we already know
  109. I mean, if this thread is any indication, people are over-analyzing WAY too much out of HB and HH, like how all obsessive fanbases do eventually. You're going to have to learn to take things at face value for entertainment, because Viz is going to make continuity errors or retcons that are going to make people mad who try to have an omniscient grasp over a show meant to be for fun. Not every episode is going to be some grand worldbuilding exercise or delve into a character's troubled backstory.
  110. ----------------------------------
  111. Or YHVH'S entirely unaware of the purges in the first place, with Adina working behind His back to expand the scope of the Exterminators to include ALL demons, not just the ones that shouldn't be allowed to wander about.
  112. ----------------------------------------------------------
  113. did the second sister not perform with him (or wasn't advertised on this) or did she get cut from the lore before she we could at least see her once because that would be sad
  114. -
  115. Well as of episode 3 we can see the same "Imp Twins" poster in the background here
  116. -
  117. aaaaand skimming through the rest of the episodes I can't find the "Amazing Imp Siblings" poster with the three of them anywhere but the pilot. Tilla may have simply ended up in the dustbin before they started production on the season.
  118. -
  119. >Moxxie curbstomps someone
  120. -
  121. where is she in the pilot
  122. -
  123. Look over Moxxie's shoulder at the poster. In the pilot it advertises "The Amazing Imp Siblings" and features Blitzo, his twin sister Barbie Wire, and Tilla. Whereas in the show, the poster seems to have been replaced with "The Amazing Imp Twins", and its just Blitzo and Barbie. I suppose that means we know for sure that its Barbie who's in rehab.
  124. ------------------------------------------------------------
  125. do you think heaven-born angels are held to much stricter standards than humans who've died and gone to heaven? like a "you need to be utterly flawless and work perfectly so that the saints (for lack of a better term for former humans) can have a happy afterlife" kind of strict
  126. -
  127. Well, looks like that's the case from episode 4 of helluva.
  128. -
  129. The way it's looking, I think Heaven might have the societal structure of Oceania from Nineteen Eighty-four:
  130. Most of if is comprised of the good souls (proles) who are kept in blissful ignorance about the greater scheme of things.
  131. Then you have the lower level angelic beings such as cherubs, who constitute the "Outer Party", with higher-ranking angels making up the "Inner Party", and God sitting on top like Big Brother.
  132. Whether or not he actually still exists doesn't matter. The system holds up solely on his idea alone.
  133. -
  134. I'm anticipating a situation like V and the Fifth Column to happen. Someone without a lot of power in heaven is going to see what Charlie's up to and be all like "hey exterminators could you not?", and when they say no, start trying to undermine them in subtle ways.
  135. -
  136. Man I was excited that Hazbin and Helluva Boss may take a different approach than just "heaven but its actually BAD"
  137. Its getting to be a quite tired cliche that god is some kind of evil dck who just wants to make everybody suffer
  138. -
  139. I don't the "Heaven is BAD" is a sort-of eternal thing. We're probably going to learn that at some point in the past, things began to go wrong up there, which resulted in the current system.
  140. Plus, the thing about Big Brother, and similar figures, is that they're completely enigmatic. So, whether or not what happening is their intention, or their name is just being used to justify someone else's schemes is up in the air.
  141. It could turn out that God had been put into a helpless slumber like Hoborg from The Neverhood, or even forced to live a hair's breath away from death like the Emperor of Mankind, with everything that has been happening since he ended up where he is being VERY MUCH against his wishes.
  142. -
  143. That sounds more compelling and I think that'd be a good direction for both shows to take, rather than having an "everyone is terrible, black and black morality" cynic route. I hope with A24's involvement in Hazbin Hotel that we can actually have some experienced writers come on board and write for the show.
  144.
  145. I'm just sick of everyone hopping on the "god scks hes actually super evil" bandwagon. I'm not even a christian, and I consider myself closer to an atheist than an agnostic, but its just becoming so played out and tiresome that people think that its edgy and subversive to dck on Christianity as if its still 2007 and GW Bush is in office.
  146. -
  147. chill the fck out man. all they've shown is that someone in a management position in hell is willing to fire them for fcking up rather seriously. both shows tell us clearly that those in hell are there for a good reason so why would it be different with heaven.
  148. -
  149. i think we're just too emotionally invested in the show
  150. i think HB isn't meant to be taken that seriously, it's supposed to be adult SpongeBob for lack of a better comparison
  151. -
  152. Yeah probably this. Try not to fall into the DNF trap.
  153. -
  154. >the DNF trap
  155. the Daddy's Nut and Fck trap?
  156. -
  157. Duke Nukem Forever. Follow up to what could be considered one of the most important FPS games of all time, very long development cycle, released to overwhelmingly negative response after about a decade. It wasn't really a bad game, I've seen worse, it was just average, some good here, some bad there, but after years of hype and speculation, expectations for a masterpiece were so high that the disappointment when it fell short of the unattainable was beyond measure.
  158.
  159. Here's a hard, bitter little pill for us all to swallow. As much as we may have with our autistic discussions, Hazbin and Helluva aren't ever going to provide us with a bible-thick book's worth of lore comparable to the heaps of theory we have (had) in the pastebin. Some theories are going to be flat out wrong no matter how much we may cherish them, some arcs aren't going to happen no matter how much sense we think they make, etc etc. You're going to get a show being made by a bunch of ordinary human beings under the restraints of time and budget, and the best you can hope for is that its good, but flawed, hopefully not in an egregious way. It's not going to be a Star Wars or a Ben-Hur or a Citizen Kane that forever alters the fabric of pop culture.
  160.
  161. And I'm okay with that. It's still fun to be autistic about this, I never got to be autistic about anything when I was a kid.
  162. -
  163. Ah, yeah. Makes sense.
  164. Maybe I'm just a bit nieve for thinking there's a very massive hole in the market for an adult animation that changes the entire market. I wish I were smarter or better to be able to fill that void, I have stories I want to tell but I can't seem to get the right words out, and learning to do animation is a daunting task.
  165. ------------------------
  166. How I'd rank the HB season as it stands
  167. 2>1>[pilot]>4>3
  168. -
  169. I liked 3 more than 4 but maybe it will grow on me.
  170. -
  171. 2 > 1 > 4 > pilot > 3
  172. -
  173. 2 >> 1 > 4 > P >> 3
  174.
  175. i really don't like Loona tbdesu
  176. -----------------------------------
  177. It's not the cat costume really, and moxxie getting hurt is part of the thing they're complaining about.
  178. It's about the sorta reverse "bad things happen to good people" and "good things happen to bad people" trend in the show. Every time Moxxie tries to help and be a nice guy he gets sht on, and he's sht on because he's a nice guy. We are supposed to find it funny that holier than thou nice guys get sht on at the end of the episode while the old guy has fun in hell and blitzo goes on his merry way.
  179.
  180. It's essentially a reverse or parody of HazbinHotel itself which thematically believes unironically in doing good or being good. HelluvaBoss meanwhile believes in being selfish and doing bad. Nothing wrong with that, but you're allowed to not like it. There's a reason bad stuff always happens to moxxie and it's because he's trying to be good (or at least nice/polite). Noone else gets smushed by rocks
  181. ----------------------------------
  182. >they're just as nasty as the imps
  183. Which one would you rather live next to?
  184. Cherubs obviously. In almost every conceivable interaction they would be better. Just because they dont call you sht to your face when you are sht, doesn't mean they're bad. That's just projection.
  185. -
  186. If I had either living next to me I'd move. They're both dangerous. The imps will kll you within a week so they can loot the house, sure, but the cherubs will kll you in a month after the 30th time you tell them to fck off because you're not going to stop drinking or start going to church no matter how nicely they tell you to do so.
