Shawn and Jericho were evenly matched at the start, with each trying their usual start and the other countering it, in an elaborate technical wrestling sequence involving Jericho reversing HBK's Falcon Arrow into a sitout facebuster and HBK reversing the springboard huricanrana into a backbreaker sequence before powerbombing him into a turnbuckle. After a few minutes, the two of them stopped for a second to chuckle, before Jericho beat Shawn to the cheap shot, kicking the Showstopper's knee out from under him. Jericho capitalized, already stomping on the still-reeling Shawn. Without giving him a chance to breathe, Jericho set Shawn up for a Liontamer in the middle of the ring. Despite the pain, Shawn took a second to catch himself, and crawled towards the ropes. Jericho screamed at him to tap while Shawn desperately grabbed for the ropes. Jericho noticed a second too late, and Shawn caught the bottom rope! The ref started imploring Jericho to break the hold.

1...2...3...4... Jericho lets go at 4, and started to argue with the ref, when he turned around into a snap Sweet Chin Music!
1... no! Jericho kicks out at 1! Shawn was ready for that, though, and as Jericho wss sitting up, Shawn kicked him in the side of the head! Jericho rolled towards the ropes, and grabbed on, just as Shawn grabbed his boots to drag him to the center of the ring! Shawn glared down at Jericho, before turning around to start undoing the top turnbuckle of the opposite corner. As he finished, Jericho stood up, and was charging at him, but Shawn stepped out of the way. Jericho managed to catch himself before running into the exposed turnbuckle, but the slight distraction was all Shawn needed to take advantage, whipping his head into the exposed turnbuckle anyway! As Jericho was dazed, Shawn grabbed his legs, and wrapped them around the turnbuckle, locking him into the turnbuckle Figure Four!

1...2...3...4... Shawn let go and, after a Kip-up, whipped Jericho’s leg into the turnbuckle! While Jericho held his injured leg, Shawn got back into the ring, tuning up the band! A-1, and A-2, and A—CAUGHT! Jericho caught the Sweet Chin Music! He spins Shawn on his leg, and goes for a Codebreaker! Shawn saw this coming, however, and before Jericho could get a grip on Shawn, he went for a chop! And another! He continued to chop Jericho, until he got some distance and went for a Dropkick, which Jericho dodged! Before Shawn can register the fact that he missed, Jericho clambered over to the ropes to hit Shawn with a Lionsault! Shawn rolled out of the way, and went for his own Moonsault, which Jericho caught into a Codebreaker!

1...2, Shawn kicked out! As Shawn started to get up, Jericho went for another Lionsault! Shawn got the knees up, and hooked Jericho in for a Powerbomb attempt! But Jericho slipped out, hooking Shawn's arms for a Yoshi Tonic, planting him on the mat!
1...2, Jericho stood up, still holding Shawn's legs, and dropped forward, planting Shawn's entire front onto the mat, before turning over for the cover.
1...2...2.9, Shawn kicked out! Jericho went to the ropes for another Lionsault, but Shawn got the knees up, pulled Jericho to his feet, and—a blast from the past! The Teardrop Suplex!
1...2...2.9, Jericho managed to kick out!  As he struggled to his feet, Shawn stood in front of the exposed turnbuckle. As he mouthed “I’m sorry, I love you,” he went for the Sweet Chin Music, only to be caught. Jericho spun him around, [b]hooked him into a full nelson, and shoved his face right into the turnbuckle! Shawn was reeling from this, and Jericho capitalized, driving his head to the mat with the Canadian Destroyer!
