  25. So this is an interesting point. The FAQ on the rulebook's back page says no - the components that will get activated are "locked in" once a device starts activating. My reasoning was that it's better for the game if people can see what a device will do before they choose whether to block it or not.

  27. However, I've been changing my mind on this. The chief motivating factor for assorted other rules decisions was what is the most awesome, such as allowing the nonbasic sources to output different power in each direction. The game survives the Insta-Factor; in fact I had one game recently where someone built Innovation Turbine, Innovation Turbine, Insta-Factor: take two random components, build a machine out of them, and activate it! And guess what? It wasn't destabilising, it was awesome.

  29. I don't think I should issue errata to the rulebook so recently after release. But I will tell you that I'm happy for this to be a sort of officially sanctioned house rule, that any components added to a device during activation can be activated (as long as they connect to the source that you activate, of course).

  31. You will still have to follow the requirements of the Upgrader, of course. A clockwork-powered Upgrader can only upgrade itself from size 2 to size 3, and so on. Naturally, with the Expander, all bets are off. Universal Source - Expander would be awesome. Iteration Gears - Ubiquity Conveyor - Power Converter - Expander hilariously so!

  33. Have fun!
