- [23:14] <Zima> =====
- [23:21] * Izolda_Alkaev is currently sitting at a chair in the officer's mess. She's not technically an officer but it hasn't stopped her and she's glowered at anyone who suggests she shouldn't be here. She's been looking worried and been very quiet the last few days...
- [23:23] * Boris is eating as well, though nobody would suggest that he doesn't belong here. He's a bit ragged, but otherwise healthy.
- [23:25] * Zima comes all but running through the mess...then stops, thinks better of it, runs out, then walks in, properly but in a hurry before coming over to where Izolda is sitting. "Ma'am, Kommander...you'll want to come see this." Her tone is one of barely controlled excitement.
- [23:26] * Izolda_Alkaev raises an eyebrow...pushing away her barely eaten food.
- [23:34] <Boris> "What is it, Zima?"
- [23:39] <Zima> "It's that stuff I took back from the Nyss camp. It's...well, you'll want to see it. I think it's important."
- [23:39] * Boris stands. "Alright, lead the way then."
- [23:41] * Izolda_Alkaev stands up "Very well..."
- [23:47] <Zima> She leads the pair up to the room with her alchemy equipment spread out over just about every available surface now, busy bubbling and steaming merrily away. Once all three are inside she picks up a hunk of a whitish, powdery solid.
- [23:47] <Zima> "Do either of you recognize what this is?"
- [23:47] <Boris> "No."
- [23:47] * Izolda_Alkaev shakes her head
- [23:48] <Zima> "It's a hunk of alchemical stone. Really common stuff for making things in alchemy, you use it to make liquids stickier for like tar and even solid applications."
- [23:48] <Zima> She grins, almost madly.
- [23:49] <Zima> "And it came from this." She picks up one of the last vials of the bluish liquid confiscated from the camp.
- [23:50] <Izolda_Alkaev> "...you managed to work out how to seperate that...god stuff?"
- [23:52] * Boris frowns "So they're making those monsters with alchemy?"
- [23:55] *** Igor has left #idikrpgic
- [23:55] <Izolda_Alkaev> "...I didn't know that was possible."
- [23:59] <Zima> "I don't know HOW they do it, but...whatever these things are made from, it's *absolutely* nothing divine about it, for sure. A final nail in their 'god's' coffin lid."
- [00:02] <Zima> "And because it all reduces down to regular alchemical components--this stuff"--she points to one of the condenser tubes coiled over the top of a beaker--"is a basic toxin, like what you'd pull out of a snake's fangs. It comes from the red stuff. And there's a bunch of others, too. An alchemist can make all *kinds* of goodies from this."
- [00:06] * Izolda_Alkaev nods "...and somehow they get...mean nasty creatures?"
- [00:09] <Boris> "We already knew they could die, but this helps further."
- [00:09] * Zima shrugs. "I think that...nasty stuff that Monty noticed? Might play a part in that. Or if it doesn't, then it's some kind of recipe only they know. Like I said, I don't really know how they do it, but the point is that it's little more than things we already know about."
- [00:10] <Boris> "Would it then be possible to create something that would harm their alchemical beasts?"
- [00:13] <Zima> "I certainly intend to find out. Of course, the more of them that we destroy by normal means, the more I can test with...or maybe you can delegate it if you have another person more versed in alchemy than I am."
- [00:14] <Izolda_Alkaev> "If we have not found one yet...I doubt we will. This is not exactly a crossroads..."
- [00:15] <Boris> "It is likely that any outstanding alchemists this region has produced are currently in Korsk, manufacturing strangle gas or blasting powder."
- [00:19] * Zima shrugs, almost dropping the stone, fumbling it twice before securing it in a fist, then placing it on the table with a sheepish grin. "Kay. Well, I'll do what I can." She actually giggles slightly. "I think I'm a little nuts after figuring this out. Way too excited about proving they're only mortal."
- [00:20] <Izolda_Alkaev> "Well, we knew that much already...now we know they are not divine too."
- [00:20] * Boris smiles. "We showed them that they are mortal on our first meeting. Of course, showing that they are also liars is even better."
- [00:20] <Zima> "Yeah, that." She makes a vague gesture between them, acknowledging both points.
- [00:21] <Izolda_Alkaev> "If we find any books or scrolls of thiers, perhaps you can learn more about what they've made."
- [00:23] <Zima> Her look turns uneasy. "...so long as you think it's not going to turn me nuts like them."
- [00:24] <Boris> "That seems unlikely."
- [00:24] * Izolda_Alkaev chuckles. "I'm sure you will be fine nuts in your own way..."
- [00:25] <Zima> The look turns into a comic pout. "Heyyyy...well, yeah, you're probably right."
- [00:28] * Izolda_Alkaev smiles "I always am."
