  1. Enter name.: "Kanaya" was suggested by Nebilim. "Maryam" was suggested by goggles8. Her name comes from the Sanskrit counterpart of Virgo, which is 'Kanya'; and 'Maryam' is the Arabic name for 'Mary', as in the Virgin Mary.
  2.
  3. It's uncertain what exactly a 'shadow dropper' is. Most likely another word for vampire trolls, due to the fact that that can go outside in the day and 'drop a shadow'.
  4.
  5. Kanaya: Fine, equip that then.: Kanaya's dresses seen here were designed by Cindy Dominguez.
  6.
  7. Kanaya: Answer CC.: Feferi claims not to be able to control the glubs, similarly to Aradiasprite's ribbits.
  8.
  9. ======> (2338): And this panel is a callback to Dave looking at his bloodied hands.
  10.
  11. Kanaya: Answer CA.: The exchange about Feferi confiding (obviously false) romantic feelings for Eridan in Kanaya mirrors a Terezi/John conversation from Act 4.
  12.
  13. Tavros: Enter.: The Land of Sand and Zephyr is where all those desert-area dreambubbles take place.
  14.
  15. ======> (2362): 'pshoooes' as a code for the rocket boots echoes 'pshooooo' as a code for the rocket pack, especially since they share the same paint job.
  16.
  17. Tavros: Lead fearsome entourage into ruins.: These are the same ruins Hussie is found in by Vriska.
  18.
  19. Tavros: Point cherry vehicle toward X on map.: The big red X that marked the destination on the map we just saw turned out to be an actual big red X on a windmill.
  20.
  21. Vriska: Help Pupa find shadow.: Visual callback to Vriska stepping on d4s.
  22.
  23. Try to understand.: The first line is taken from Kanaya's first conversation with Rose. 'Concupiscent' and 'conciliatory' really fell by the wayside in terms of quadrant terminology. As for the names of the quadrants themselves:
  24.
  25. "The words aren't hard to remember if you know their roots. Just like real words.
  26.
  27. kismesis = kismet + nemesis
  28. matesprit = mate + esprit
  29. auspistice = auspice (auspicious) + armistice
  30. moirallegiance + moira (myth figure tied to fate) + allegiance
  31.
  32. Portmanteaus are fun. MSPA remains an incestuous slurry of morphemes."
  33.
  34. Examine caliginous quadrant.: While the troll's Jack Noir definitely experiences black feelings for Snowman, the kid's instance possibly does not. In fact, it's possible that Sburb sessions contain carapacians capable of experiencing the same kids of romantic feelings than the players of that particular session, and changing based on their species.
  35.
  36. ======> (2396): The design of the Imperial Drone here reappears later as the Condesce's forces.
  37.
  38. ======> (2405): Again, "Serendipity" is the John Cusack movie this poster is from. That makes "troll serendipity" a joke.
  39.
  40. ======> (2406): RETCON WATCH: Oil smeared on Mandel's gross monster movie poster.
  41.
  42. Enter name.: Eridan was named by Tenebrais. His name is derived from the river Eridanos, which was poured onto the Earth by Aquarius in Greek myth (or possibly from the constellation Eridanus), and the amphora, a type of Greek vessel for carrying liquids which is often seen in depictions of Aquarius.
  43.
  44. Eridan: Do something awesome.: This panel is straight up just stolen and reinserted into Eridan and Kanaya's duel, with color changes.
  45.
  46. Enter name.: "Feferi" was suggested by [X-Rok] and "Peixes" was suggested by Zuki. Her first name comes from "Metasepia pfefferi", a poisonous species of cuttlefish. Her last name is the Portuguese name for Pisces (as well as the Portuguese word for "fish" in plural).
  47.
  48. ======> (2435): RETCON WATCH: Small arm, pointing towards one of Glubglub's tentacles.
  49.
  50. ======> (2439): Duplicate wizards from Rose's home.
  51.
  52. Feferi: Examine block.: Surprised Hussie doesn't mention Joey's shtick when examining how his character archtypes relates to each other, given Feferi's similar interests.
  53.
  54. Eridan and Feferi: Do something ridiculous.: Obvious 'YES. HELL YES. HELL FUCKING YES.' as well as stylistically being extremely similar to the scribbles from [S] Ride.
  55.
  56. ======> (2447): SBaHJ #12 ref.
  57.
  58. Feferi: Go get a beverage.: Alternian: "TAB", obviously
  59.
  60. ======> (2454): A twofer: THIS IS STUPID and a BLUH, all in one panel. What a treat.
  61.
  62. ======> (2460): Probably not worth noting, but the poses of the silhouetted unknown trolls here are extremely reminiscent of Hussie's Special Olympics and early MSPA work to me.
  63.
  64. ======> (2461): RETCON WATCH: Oil spilled among the lusus blood.
  65.
  66. ======> (2462): Actually, the term 'Speaker of the Vast Glub' was introduced some pages prior to this, during Feferi's introduction.
  67.
  68. Some time later...: Feferi's land is the only one that is seen exactly once, and never again. Not even for the briefest shot or cameo. it is unique in this regard, just as Feferi is unique for being the Most Narratively Ignored A2 Troll :(.
  69.
  70. ======> (2468): Callback to Karkat bonking himself while John did his shitty Con Air reenactment in the Veil.
  71.
  72. And later still...: Possibly because all Sburb players are technically princes/princesses of Prospit/Derse.
  73.
  74. ======> (2481): Sollux's Derse bedroom is Prospit-colored. I don't know if there's a specific reason his Derse dream self is the one to be used by the revival process. I mean, take your fucking pick. Maybe it's because Feferi is a Derse dreamer. Maybe it's because Hussie wanted to make the dream self count even more lopsided. or maybe he just wanted an excuse to have CD show up in a few pages.
  75.
  76. Karkat: BLUH!: Facepalm x2...
  77.
  78. ======> (2485): ...into a facepalm x1 combo! Now that's a nasty combo string.
  79.
  80. ======> (2487): RETCON WATCH: Oil seeping from the window.
  81.
  82. ======> (2488): It's a visual callback to Dave staring at his bloodied hands, but totally redrawn to match AH's more realistic proportions. I think I'll use AH to refer to the Homestuck character exclusively, to better distinguish them in my writing.
  83.
  84. MSPA: Quick, become more meta while AH is brooding.: As always, a glimpse of a previous site design for MSPA.
  85.
  86. ====================>: The whole MSPA Reader section is much more of an explicit reference than Hussie implies. It's almost exactly the same sequence from Problem Sleuth, except with an AUTHORTECH -> LADDER TO SELF INDULGENCE instead of DMK's LADDER TO HELL. The stump, as well, hails from Jailbreak. It seems to inspire suicide for some reason. In fact, the object embedded in it is a harpoon that Jailbreak's initial protagonist fires through himself.
  87.
  88. Alright, now you're DEFINITELY trolling us. Come on.: Callback to AH's 'rant pose' in his previous appearance.
  89.
  90. SS: Move this along.: Hey, there's the pumpkin again. Who am I kidding, Hussie probably forgot that was even there.
  91.
  92. ======> (2505): While in the kid's session the moons are divided between the Harleybert and Strilonde families and personality proclivities, in the troll's session they're divided by team color.
  93.
  94. TROLL ETIQUETTE SURE IS CONFUSING.: Callback to Doc Scratch's freakout.
