  1. "Hey girls, you ever wonder why Anonette is always alone?"
  2. >"Probably because she's so full of herself, Sunset!"
  3. >All the rest of the girls stare at Twilight with a bewildered look.
  4. >The response came out the instant that I finished my question, and it was one that was highly uncharacteristic of Twilight.
  5. >"Now where did that come from, sugarcube? As far as I know Anonette keeps to herself and doesn't talk to much of anyone. What did she do to get you so worked up?"
  6. >Twilight dons a half embarrassed half annoyed face.
  7. >"Y-You just don't know about her, okay."
  8. >"I'd rather you be more specific than that, Twilight."
  9. >Rarity inquired.
  10. >"I have to agree with Applejack. I mean, Anonette is a star student. I've heard many teachers rant and rave over her academic performance."
  11. >"I know, I know. She's sooo smart. I get it guys. It's just that she's so arrogant and uncooperative about it. She goes to less than the minimum amount of meetings for the science Olympiad team. She gets this massive attitude about it whenever I confront her about it. And of course, Mrs. Harshwhinny does nothing about it because she's our star player."
  12. >"Now I see what's going on here!"
  13. >Rainbow Dash shouts.
  14. >"You're jealous of her!"
  15. >"That's not it, Rainbow."
  16. >"Sure it's not.~"
  17. >Twilight relented.
  18. >"Ugh. Whatever, that's my stance. Take it or leave it."
  19. >"Now that's enough, Rainbow Dash."
  20. >says Applejack.
  21. >"Fine, fine. To tell the truth, she's on the girls’ basketball team with me. She's definitely an above average player. The best out of the freshman. Of course, she's nowhere near my level."
  22. >"Whoooaa, both the science Olympiad and the basketball team!? This Anonette is a superstar let'sthrowheraparty!"
  23. >"Not a good idea, Pinkie."
  24. >"Aww, but Twilight!~"
  25. >"I can guarantee that’s not something she’s into.”
  26. >”Aaany way.”
  27. >Rainbow Dash continues.
  28. >”I don’t have any problems with her. She comes to practice, plays well, and keeps to herself. That’s all I can ask of her really.”
  29. >You suddenly get the feeling that you’re being watched, and jerk your head towards where Anonette was sitting and-
  30. >She’s still there. Alone at her table. Quietly enjoying her meal and checking her phone.
  31. >The feeling that you’re being watched still doesn’t leave you…
  32. >Just then the bell rings, and you need to attend your next class.
  33. >Regardless of your friends’ feelings this girl has intrigued you. You want to learn more about her.
  34.
  35. >Your last class of the day is calculus.
  36. >”Alright class, your exam finally graded and I’m handing it back before you leave class.”
  37. >Various groans and gasps are heard around the class.
  38. >You can’t blame them. It was a particularly hard test.
  39. >You still don’t think you understand Taylor series…
  40. >”Sunset!”
  41. >You’re suddenly pulled out of your thoughts. Time to get your test back.
  42. >The grade is… decent! 85 out of 100 to be exact.
  43. >”Very good, Sunset.”
  44. >Cheerilee praised
  45. >”You had the second best grade in the class!”
  46. >Second best?
  47. >”Anonette!”
  48. >She walks gracefully towards the front of the room and receives her exam.
  49. >”Splendid as usual! Keep up the good work.”
  50. >Anonette simply smiles, nods and walks back to her seat.
  51. >As she returns you think she makes brief eye contact with you, but you don’t see it.
  52. >Wow, that doesn’t make sense now that you think it.
  53. >The bell rings, and you get all your supplies in order.
  54. >But before you go home, you want to introduce yourself to Anonette.
  55. >You follow her through the hall of the school, struggling to keep track of her through the hallways filled with students eager to go home.
  56. >Gradually the number of students in the hallway thins out allowing you to keep track of Anonette better.
  57. >You could approach her now, but you feel a bit nervous as odd as it sounds. And you’re curious as to where she’s going.
  58. >You try your best to follow her without being detected. Keeping your footsteps soft, and following at a safe distance.
  59. >She twists and turns down seemingly random hallways and up seemingly random staircases. You wonder if she’s going to basketball practice.
  60. >Can’t be, those aren’t held on Thursday.
  61. >The science club?
  62. >According to Twilight she often doesn’t attend.
  63. >Finally she enters what seems to be an empty room.
  64. >That’s enough of this stalking. This is so unlike you! There’s no need to be so nervous around a freshman girl.
  65. >You just need to go up and simply speak to he-
  66. >” Sunset, I was wondering how long you were going to keep this up. You’ve exceeded my expectations!”
  67. >You freeze.
  68. >”What are you waiting for? Come on in.”
  69. >Slowly, you enter the room and face Anonette.
  70. >The room was just a small classroom. Anonette was sitting on the teacher’s desk facing toward you. She wore a slight smile.
  71. ”How did you know I was following you.” You say.
  72. >”Your footsteps aren’t quite as you thought they were and I could see your shadow.”
  73. >She continued.
  74. >”I had a hunch it was you because you were talking about me at lunch today.”
  75. >Her face became dead serious as she continued.
  76. >”Often people can hear their name in a crowded place, you know. They call it the ‘cocktail party effect’. I do hope you’re not here to attack me.”
  77. >You get a bit flustered.
  78. ”That’s not it, I just wanted to-“
  79. >”It’s alright, Sunset. Just a joke.”
  80. >The smile returned to her face as she giggled a little.
  81. ”Not funny, you know…”
  82. >You had thought for a second that she was referring to your past when you were “the school bully”. You really hope that the freshman don’t ever learn too much about your past so you can easily put it behind you.
  83. >”You’re friends with Twilight, Rainbow, and the rest of the friendship brigade right? So I take it you’ve come here to introduce yourself to me?”
  84. ”Friendship brigade?”
  85. >”Do you mind that I called it that? The name seemed appropriate.”
  86. >Suddenly you understood why Twilight doesn’t get along with her. It’s not that she’s malevolent, or even actively trying to get under your skin.
  87. >It’s that she could use some better social skills and be more tact.
  88. >”Hmpf!”
  89. >Anonette suddenly seemed annoyed.
  90. “What is it?”
  91. >”I have a good hunch what you’re thinking right now and it’s incredibly rude!”
  92. >How did?
  93. >You take a good look at Anonette.
  94. >She’s a small girl. Can’t be any more than 5’3. She had long, white hair that extended well past her shoulders. It went well with her striking yellow eyes. Her skin was very fair and nearly flawless. She looked kind of… angelic. You wonder…
  95. >Anonette makes another small giggle.
  96. >”I suspect I know what you’re thinking again. I’m no angel. Nor am I any other mythical creature.”
  97. “How did!?”
  98. >Anonette makes a very cute smile.
  99. >”It’s written all over your face, Sunny.”
  100. >You think you understand Anonette a little better now. It’s not just that she’s a little gifted. She’s the real deal. Anonette is a genius.
  101.
  102.
  103. >”If you’ve come to ask me out on a date, I’m afraid I’ll have to refuse you if you don’t become more confident.”
  104. >You try to ignore her teasing.
  105. “It’s just that I was wondering why you’re alone all the time. I would have thought that someone with so much involvement around the school would be more popular.”
  106. >Anonette looks away from you and frowns a bit—seemingly deep in thought.
  107. >”As it turns out, being good at a few things isn’t enough to win people’s favor.”
  108. >You were getting ready to ask her to clarify what exactly she meant by that, but she continued.
  109. >”Not now, Sunset. You were inevitably going to ask me out on a friendship date. So shoot!”
  110. >She turned back into her previous cheeky self on a dime. Well, you WERE going to try to befriend her.
  111. “Ah, yeah. How about Friday after school, but you have to stop calling it a friendship date.”
  112. >She giggled.
  113. >”Twilight will be furious if her favorite science Olympiad team mate didn’t show up to her meeting. I always try to please her.”
  114. >She knows you picked up on her sarcasm.
  115. “Fine. Saturday at two then?”
  116. >”Works for me.”
  117.
  118.
  119. >Saturday morning comes around and you still haven’t brought yourself to contact Anonette since your first meeting.
  120. >You don’t’ know whether you should meet her at your house, hers, or at somewhere else.
  121. >This is silly. You shouldn’t be so-
  122. >Your phone vibrates.
  123. >”Remember to pick me up at 2, Sunny! My address is… -Anonette”
  124. >At least that issue is resolved.
  125. >The time came and you arrived at Anonette’s house in your car. Her house was close to the school which made finding it simple.
  126. >Her house was a light blue two-story home with a two-car garage. A typical suburban home. You weren’t sure what to expect from a home that raised someone like her.
  127. >Anonette walked out of the front door and opened the door to the passenger seat of your car.
  128. >”Right on time.” She said with that signature small smile of hers.
  129. >”So, where did you want to take me anyway?”
  130. “Err…”
  131. >You hadn’t thought that far ahead.
  132. >”I feared it would turn out like this.”
  133. “We could always catch a movie. That’s always a good choice.”
  134. >”That works. And afterwards, we can see the carnival.”
  135. >That’s right. The carnival had come to town, but you wouldn’t have guessed Anonette to be the type to suggest such a thing.
  136. >”I have a wider range of interests than you think!” Anonette says, right on que.
  137. >You chuckle a bit.
  138.
  139. >You and Anonette arrive at the carnival.
  140. >The hustle and bustle of all the people in the streets as well as all the lights make for an amusing sight. You both walk through the various games and attractions.
  141. >”This brings back some memories of when I was a child.”
  142. >Anonette’s childhood? You couldn’t help but be a little bit curious.
  143. “What was your childhood like?”
  144. >”Honestly, nothing special. People assume I must have had a strict upbringing, or had private tutors and schools.”
  145. >Anonette muses, and brings her fist to her chin as she thinks.
  146. >”But I really don’t think my childhood was much different than your average one in this area.”
  147. >”Enough of that. Let’s play a game.”
  148. >Anonette surprises you by grabbing your hand and leading you away.
  149. “Hey. Is this really necessary?”
  150. >”Of course!” She says with a giggle.
  151. >You both arrive at the free throws.
  152. “I should have guessed someone on the basketball team would want to shoot hoops.”
  153. >Anonette smiles, pays the man at the front of the game, and enters.
  154. >”You have one minute to get as many free throws from the line as you can.” The man tells her.
  155. >Anonette readies herself. Feeling the basketball, eyeing the hoop, and dribbling a little bit.
  156. >”Begin.” Says the man.
  157. >Anonette shoots her first shot, hits the back board, and… misses the shot.
  158. >She grimaces. And shoots another, this time aiming right for the basket. Another miss.
  159. >She shoots once again aiming right for the basket and makes it this time.
  160. “Third time’s the charm!” You say, encouragingly.
  161. >Anonette finishes the minute of free throws with 11 free throws of 20 total shots.
  162. >She picks a stuffed unicorn as her prize.
  163. “Good job, Anonette!”
  164. >”Thank you. It wasn’t quite like regular free throws.”
  165. “What do you mean?”
  166. >”It’s setup such that both the backboard and the ball are bouncier than they would be with a standard ball and hoop, making rebounding off the backboard much more difficult. This way you either have to shoot the ball right into the hoop or nothing.”
  167. “Sounds kinda cheap.”
  168. >Anonette smiles. “It is, but at least it was good practice.”
  169. “And you got a glorious stuffed unicorn.” You say, somewhat sarcastically.
  170. >”Of course! It reminds me a little bit of myself.”
  171. >Out of the corner of your eye, you spot a man leading a very drunk woman to the outskirts of the carnival.
  172. >It looks a little suspicious. But you give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he’s just a friend of hers.
  173. >Anonette eyes the event shortly and then turns to you.
  174. >”Lets ride the Ferris wheel.”
  175. >Both you and Anonette walk up to the Ferris wheel in the middle of the carnival. Bright lights adorn the structure both on each carriage and each beam of the wheel.
  176. >Orange, red, and yellow. Kind of reminds you of yourself!
  177. >You both enter the ride and sit down. Anonette looks out the window as the wheel starts to turn.
  178. >An awkward silence arises between the two of you. You break the silence.
  179. ”So, what made you decide to join the basketball team?”
  180. >”A decent attempt at small talk, but I think you can do better.” Anonette retorts with a giggle.
  181. “Have any better ideas?”
  182. >”Why are you so determined to get to know me of all people?”
  183. >A fair question, but you didn’t have that great an answer.
  184. >In all honesty you just saw her alone and your friends’ description of the girl intrigued you.
  185. “Is a reason really needed to make a new friend?” You ask with a smile.
  186. >”As far as I know, friendship should be a mutual symbiotic relationship between two people. So, what can I help you with?”
  187. “Way too technical, Anonette.” You say, taken aback. “Just have fun with other people sometimes, you know.”
  188. >Before you realize the mistake you made with your wording, Anonette replies.
  189. >”’Have fun with other people’ can be taken to mean some dirty things, Sunny. Just what kind of person are you?” Anonette teases.
  190. >You blush a little.
  191. “You know what I meant!”
  192. >She giggles.
  193. “You have to meet the rest of the girls, Anonette. With a group of people, it might be easier to let loose.”
  194. >”I’m not sure that’s a good idea.”
  195. “Why so? I know you and Twilight aren’t exactly on the best terms, but you can learn to get along. And your team mate Rainbow Dash is my friend too.”
  196. >”It’s just tha-“
  197. >Anonette pauses and looks intently out of the Ferris wheel which is now descending. You look along and see what caused her to halt.
  198. >The man you saw earlier with drunk woman is now outside the carnival and handling her roughly. You made a mistake giving him the benefit of the doubt.
  199. >”Shit. I should have spoken to one of the officers around the carnival earlier.”
  200. “We have to go help her!”
  201. >Anonette looks at you sternly.
  202. >”What? We can still get the authorities, Sunset. There’s no need for us to get involved.”
  203. “By the time we finish with that who knows what he’ll have done to her. If we work together we can do it. It’s just one man.”
  204. >”Sunset…” She stares daggers through you with those yellow eyes.
  205. >”It has nothing to do with us and it’s reckless.”
  206. >The Ferris wheel comes to a halt.
  207. >”Don’t do anything stupid.”
  208. >The door opens and you bolt out.
  209. >”Sunset!”
  210.
  211.
  212.
  213. >You run through various attractions and people to try to get to alleyway you saw the man at.
  214. >People tell you to slow down and to watch where you’re going, but your mind is focused on one objective right now.
  215. >Once you get outside the carnival you run past various buildings and look around frantically.
  216. >You know they were in this general area, but you should have payed closer attention to where they were going.
  217. You lost them…
  218. >”Aaaaagh!”
  219. >Or at least you had until you heard that shriek. You’re exhausted by the time you get to the source of the shriek.
  220. >”C’mon girl, stop strugglin’. You’ll be enjoin’ yerself soon.”
  221. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUZeSYsU0Uk
  222. >You arrive at the alleyway to find the man trying to force himself on the drunk woman.
  223. >You’re frozen in fear. This disgusts and scares you in a way unlike any magical monster can.
  224. >Even though this isn’t truly the most dangerous situation you’ve been in something deep and primordial within you is telling you to flee this situation.
  225. >Everything about this scene—from the run down, littered alleyway to the smell is atrocious.
  226. >You see the man repeatedly try to grab and pin down the woman’s limbs to keep her from moving, while also trying to undress her. Her shrieks of desperation and fear disturb you.
  227. >Something must be done now. But you don’t know what you can do.
  228. >Steadily you gain the will to move just a little bit. The first thing that comes to your head is…
  229. “STOP!”
  230. >The man looks up at you with a startled look on his face. He looks a bit fearful for a moment, and then dons a smile when he gets a better look at you.
  231. >His grin embodies maliciousness. His toothy grin is plagued with awful and decaying teeth. You no longer recognize the being in front of you as a human.
  232. >You’re frozen again.
  233. >”My lucky day…”
  234. >The man, no—the THING gets up and faces you. As soon as he does the other woman sprints past you and exits the alleyway.
  235. >As she passes you your reflexes return to you.
  236. >You pivot and start your spri-
  237. >Your arms extend just in time to keep your face from smacking the concrete below.
  238. >The creature has tackled you. His stench reaches your nostrils and your eyes start to water.
  239. >He turns you over.
  240. >His hands feel abominable to the touch. He starts to undress you, but you’ve lost the will to struggle.
  241. >Afterall, you deserve this.
  242. >Anonette warned you not to do this. You did not listen because you thought you were superhero that just had everything work out for her.
  243. >You clench your eyes shut.
  244. >SMACK!
  245. >The mass that was previously above you falls to your side.
  246. >”Sunset!”
  247. >Your eyes jolt open upon hearing that voice. You see two yellow lights. No, yellow eyes!
  248. >Anonette grasps your hand.
  249. >”We’re running!”
  250. >You look back to see the man lying unconscious with a large stone next to his head.
  251. >You stay dead silent as the girl leads you away from the alley.
  252. >You arrive at your car and Anonette helps you get yourself together. She doesn’t say a word.
  253. >She has a slight scowl on her face.
  254. >Once she finishes she stands and stares at you wordlessly for a moment.
  255. >”Just what in the hell were you thinking!” She shouts.
  256. >”You jumped into that with no plan at all! Did you think you could appeal to his emotions or something!?”
  257. >You resist the urge to cry.
  258. >”There was no guarantee that the rock could have knocked him out! You almost got VIOLATED, Sunset!”
  259. >You drop to your knees and begin to wail.
  260. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S0r6qtcKZY
  261. >Anonette is taken aback. She has a confused look on her face. It is the first time you’ve ever seen her look like she has no idea what to do.
  262. >Anonette lowers herself and embraces you. She lowers your head onto her bosom and places a hand over your head.
  263. >”Shhhh. It’s alright. I see you understand your mistake.” She says softly.
  264. >She begins to rub your head. Your sobs soften, and you look up at her.
  265. >She wears a soft expression with a slight smile.
  266. >”It’s alright, you’re with me now.”
  267. >You’re at a loss for words. Her touch is the antipode of what you were feeling just moments ago. She caresses your body like a mother might caress a baby.
  268. >”Earlier I asked you what it is I could help you with to be able to be called your friend.” She says in a soothing voice.
  269. >You stare those bright yellow eyes of hers.
  270. >”I think a friend has to be someone who always makes your pain go away by their mere presence. So Sunset, from now on I will be your friend.”
  271. >Your crying stops, but your eyes remain wet. You remain in Anonette’s embrace for some time.
  272. >The street was practically empty, but you’re sure to any hypothetical onlooker the sight was something to behold.
  273. >A girl just a fraction of your size comforted you and held you as if you were some toddler. This should have annoyed you but…
  274. >You completely enjoyed the sensation.
  275.
  276. >You wake up and enjoy the pleasant feeling of the Sun rays which sneak past your blinds.
  277. >Turning to your alarm clock, you see that it says it’s Sunday and 9 AM.
  278. >Your thoughts wander to what happened the night before last night. You remember what Anonette said about being your friend, and try to suppress other thoughts about that night.
  279. >You haven’t seen her since that night as she had a basketball game yesterday.
  280. >You get out of bed and start your morning routine. Which includes shitting, showering, and doing your hair.
  281. >For breakfast you go with cereal and toast. Quick and easy.
  282. >You’re at a loss as to what to do with the rest of the day.
  283. >It sounds silly, but you’re conflicted between contacting Anonette today or not since you don’t want to annoy her.
  284. >You hear your doorbell ring.
  285. >And you’re only half surprised to see that it’s Anonette.
  286. “Oh, hey.”
  287. >”Hello, Sunset.”
  288. “Why are you here?”
  289. >”Don’t be silly. I couldn’t just leave you the way you were last time we saw each other without checking on you.”
  290. “Oh yeah.” You give a nervous chuckle. “Come on in.”
  291. “So, how did the game go?”
  292. >”We lost. Crystal prep beat us once again. One of these days I’ll get the guts to talk to Rainbow Dash and coach Spitfire about our strategy.”
  293. >”But more importantly, how are YOU doing? Since the other night, I mean.”
  294. >She gets right to the point as usual.
  295. “I’m doing just fine. I promise. It’s over now, right?” You say with a half-assed smile.
  296. >Anonette raises an eyebrow.
  297. >”Well, I am here now. So it’s time to cast all of those negative thoughts away okay? I’m staying for the rest of the day.”
  298. “Is that really necessary?”
  299.
  300. >Anonette lightly pushes you over to your sofa and sits next to you.
  301. >”Of course! I had a strong suspicion my newest friend wanted to see me but couldn’t muster up the courage to talk to me.~”
  302. >You blush a little at that.
  303. >”So, what do you want to do today?”
  304. “Let’s… stay inside today.”
  305. >”An understandable choice.”
  306. >You and Anonette spend the rest of the Sunday watching movies, talking, and cooking.
  307. >It goes by as quickly as it came and it was time for Anonette to go home and for you to get ready for school in the morning.
  308.
  309.
  310. >It’s Thursday.
  311. >All this week you’ve been spending your breaks with Anonette, much to the dismay of some of your friends.
  312. >You didn’t like having to choose between them and your new friend, but Anonette always insisted that she not be introduced to your other friends until “the time is right.”
  313. >Whatever that meant. You weren’t willing to give it up, however.
  314. “Let’s eat with everyone else today.”
  315. >”That makes twelve now.” Anonette responded.
  316. “Twelve?”
  317. >”Twelve times you’ve asked me to be with your other friends in some capacity.”
  318. “That’s because you should really meet them, Anonette. Having more friends will make your school life much more enjoyable.”
  319. >”That greatly depends on who those friends are, and I’ll have you know I have all the friends I need.”
  320. >As far as you knew she was always alone before you met her. Then again you didn’t pay too much attention to her outside a select few places back then, and even now you only see her during your last period class and lunch.
  321. “Who are your friends, Anonette?”
  322. >She smiles and looks at you. “Just you.”
  323. >Your mind makes the connection and you blush. Anonette giggles.
  324. “You should still meet them!”
  325. >She playfully pouts. “Darn, I thought for sure that flattery would get your mind off it.”
  326. >Suddenly the loudspeaker turns on.
  327. >”All students report to the gymnasium please. I repeat, all students please report to the gymnasium.”
  328. >Principal Celestia’s voice rang out through the whole school. The students started to crowd the hallways.
  329. >Many teachers and staff tried to keep the flow orderly to varying levels of success.
  330. >You are walking along with Anonette when you spot your friends up ahead.
  331. >You grab Anonette’s hand and she goes wide-eyed. You ignore her and catch up to your friends.
  332. “Hey girls!”
  333. >You can just FEEL Anonette staring daggers at you.
  334. >”Why hello, darling. And Anonette, nice to see you.” Rarity says with a smile.
  335. >”Hey, Rarity.” Anonette says with a smile. “And hello Applejack, Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Captain.”
  336. >”Oh yeah, and hi Twily.”
  337. >Twilight huffs and ignores her.
  338. >Pinkiepie appears near Anonette. “Hi I’m so glad I finally get to meet you, Anonette! How are you? How did you get to be so smart? What’s your cup size? Why is your hair so white!? If you lived in the north pole would you be camoflauged?”
  339. >”I’m… afraid I’m not too sure how to respond to all that.”
  340. >”That’s completely understandable.” Applejack says. “Ah still don’t know how to respond when she does that to this day.”
  341. >“Right.” Rainbow Dash affirms. “Also I know I’m awesome, but you don’t have to call me captain outside of practice.”
  342. >Rainbow dons a grin. “Hehe. Unless you want to of course.”
  343. >”Noted, Rainbow.” Anonette responds.
  344. >”Aww c’mon guys. Those were all completely reasonable questions. I bet you all also wanted to know!”
  345. >You’re once again reminded that Pinkie’s definition of ‘reasonable’ is far removed from the typical one.
  346. >Then again, considering her skin and hair color you did kind of want to know whether she blended in with the snow…
  347. >You all get to the gym and sit on the bleachers. All of you next to each other. Anonette is on the end next to you. On your other side Twilight and the rest of the girls sit.
  348. >In front of all the students the principal, vice principal, and a few others of the staff stand ready to speak to the student body.
  349. >”Students!” Principal Celestia shouts into the microphone. Everyone quiets down at the sound of her voice.
  350. >”It’s time we announce the fundraiser for our end of the school-year field trip.”
  351. >”This time we’re planning… a trip to Filly Island resort!
  352. >Claps can be heard around the whole gym.
  353. >”Oh wow, I’m so excited!” Pinkie says. “Last year at camp Everfree was a blast!”
  354. >”Enough!” The students calm down again at the blare of the microphone.
  355. >”That’s not all. For our fundraiser this year we’ll be selling tickets for our spring gala.”
  356. >”Now students, for the sake of our fundraiser this gala is going to have to be a little different from years past. It will be much bigger and replace a few other events. Based on your performance on last year’s fundraiser, I believe you all can…”
  357. >The principal drones on about the logistics of the fundraiser and the gala and you start to zone out.
  358. >Anonette leans over to speak to you.
  359. >”A gala is probably our best bet for potentially raising the most money for this trip, but we have a problem.” She softly speaks.
  360. “What is it?”
  361. >”Galas are big expensive events. And Filly Island is also quite expensive. To raise funds, we will have to make enough money to cover the expenses of the gala and then some. I don’t believe your average group of high school students could raise it all on their own—even if Celestia replaces some of the other school events.”
  362. >She continues.
  363. >”Either Celestia puts far too much faith in us, or…”
  364. >”One more thing. This is a joint effort by our own Canterlot high and Crystal Prep. They will also help us fundraise and join us on the field trip!”
  365. >”There it is.” Anonette says.
  366. >Various reactions can be seen around the gym. Ranging from surprise to disgust.
  367. >“Oh wow, have our relations with them really gotten that much better?” Fluttershy softly asks.
  368. >”No! Well a little, but Cinch is still the principal so I don’t like the idea of needing their help at all.” Rainbow responds.
  369. >Celestia once again urges the students to settle down and listen.
  370. >”I’d like to believe that two schools so near to each other can actually be friendly with each other. Regardless of what you think of them, you should at least accept their help to get us to fund this event.”
  371. >Eventually the assembly ends, thus ending the school day.
  372. >You and your friends walk together out of the school building.
  373. >”Ahm still not sure how ah feel about going on a trip with Crystal Prep. Sure, not all of them are bad but…”
  374. >”But nothing! I absolutely hate having to rely on them even if it’s for Filly Island, Applejack.” Rainbow replies.
  375. >Pinkie perks up. ”But giiirls. Are you all really going to give up this trip just for a school rivalry?”
  376. >”I-I don’t want to give up the trip.” You barely hear flutteryshy’s statement.
  377. >”I don’t want to either.” Twilight says. “Even though what they did at the friendship games was awful, I’d like to believe we can be on better terms.”
  378. >You and the rest of the girls look to Twilight. She continues.
  379. >”I just want to put the whole thing past me.”
  380. >Anonette finally speaks up. “I don’t mind going on the trip with them, but I agree with Rainbow that relying on them for funds rubs me the wrong way. Which is why NOW is the time, Sunset!”
  381. >You and the rest of the girls look to Anonette.
  382. >”I want you all to help me fundraise.”
