  2. How to use the Toshiba Backup/Application CD Setup
  3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  5. 1. Start Windows.
  6. 2. Insert the Toshiba Backup/Application CD-ROM into a CD-ROM drive.
  7. Wait a few seconds.
  8. 3. The 'Toshiba Application CD Setup' program window appears.
  9. 4. Click on one of the applications then click the 'Install' button to
  10. install the selected application.
  11. 5. Some applications require a special installation. However, an
  12. appropriate instruction will be provided.
  13. 6. To close the 'Toshiba Application CD Setup', click the 'Exit' button.

  16. NOTE: In some cases, you need to do the following to start the
  17. 'Toshiba Application CD Setup' again:
  18. - Press the Eject button on your CD device and press the same
  19. button again [and wait a few seconds] to start the TBCS.
  20. OR
  21. 1. Double-click on My Computer icon.
  22. 2. Double-click on CD-ROM drive applet.
  23. 3. The 'Toshiba Application CD Setup' should appear.

  71. NOTE: PLEASE, INSTALL PANNING SUPPORT FIRST!!!

  73. If you need to update or change the display driver for Chips and Technologies driver,
  74. please refer to the section below.

  77. 1. Click Start button, then Settings, then Control Panel.
  78. 2. Double-click "Display" button.
  79. 3. Select the "Settings" tab, click the "Advanced Properties" button.
  80. 4. Click the "Change" button in the "Adapter" tab.
  81. 5. Click the "Have Disk" button.
  82. 6. Ensure the Application CD-ROM is inserted in the CD-ROM drive, type:
  83. X:\DISPLAY (assuming that x: is the CD-ROM drive)
  84. Then click "OK".
  85. 7. The "Select Device" dialog box appears. Select "Chips and Tech. 65555 PCI (TOSHIBA)"
  86. and click "OK".
  87. 8. Click the "Close" button.
  88. 9. In the "Display Properties", click on the "Color Palette" box and select
  89. "256 colors".
  90. 10. In the "Desktop area", drag the slider bar to "800 by 600 pixels".
  91. Click "OK".
  92. 11. Click the "Close" button.
  93. 12. Click "Yes" to restart the computer.

  98. INSTALL YAMAHA OPL3-SAX Sound Drivers

  101. 1. Remove 'Yamaha Sound Driver Information' file by:
  102. Open 'Explorer', click 'View' from menu bar, choose 'Options',
  103. click 'Show all files' and click 'OK'.
  104. 2. Locate 'c:\windows\inf\other\yamahasasound.inf' file and delete it.
  105. 3. From the Windows 95 Start Menu, select Settings and choose Control Panel.
  106. 4. In the Control Panel, choose the 'System' icon and choose the Device
  107. Manager tab.
  108. 5. Double-click the "Sound, video and game controllers".
  109. 6. Select the "YAMAHA OPL3-SAx Sound System". Click "Remove". Click "OK".
  110. 7. Click "Refresh".
  111. 8. Ensure that the backup CD is in the CD-ROM drive. Click "OK"
  112. 9. Click 'Other location', in the 'Location' box, type:
  113. 'X:\SOUND'
  114. click the 'OK' button.
  115. 10. If system asks for the location of sound driver files, type: 'X:\SOUND'.

  121. To install Toshiba Busmaster IDE drivers:

  124. 1. Click Start, choose Run,
  125. type:

  127. xcopy32 x:\busctrl\ide.pdr c:\windows\system\iosubsys
  128. xcopy32 x:\busctrl\ide.inf c:\windows\inf
  129.  
  130. Close all programs running.
  131.  
  132. 2. Click 'Start', 'settings', and then 'Control Panel'.
  133. 3. Double-click 'System', on the 'Device Manager' tab,
  134. double-click 'Hard disk controllers'.
  135. 4. For each item listed under 'Hard disk controllers', select it, and
  136. then click 'Remove' (there should only be one or two devices present)
  137. 5. Click 'Ok' when it gives you a warning that you are about to remove
  138. the deice.
  139. 6. Do not reboot until you remove all the devices under 'Hard disk controllers'.
  140. After removing the last device under 'Hard disk controller',
  141. click 'Yes' to reboot the system.
  142. 7. During reboot process, system will find TOSHIBA Standard IDE Controller.
  143. Follow the instructions in the Windows bootup screen.

  148. PCMCIA Support (PCMCIA.INF)
  149. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  151. PCMCIA.INF loads the drivers to enable the use of the PCMCIA card (PC card).
  152. To setup PCMCIA support, you must do the following steps:
  153.  
  154. 1. In Windows 95, click Start, select Run. In the Run dialog box,
  155. type:
  156.  
  157. xcopy32 X:\pcmcia\pcmcia.inf c:\windows\inf
  158.  
  159. Click the "OK" button.
  160.  
  161. 2. Shut down the computer, remove all physical devices from the PCMCIA slot and
  162. restart the computer.
  163.  
  164. 3. Right-click on My Computer. Select Properties, then click the Device
  165. Manager tab.
  166.  
  167. 4. Double-click "Other Devices".
  168.  
  169. 5. There will be two devices named "PCI Cardbus Bridge". Update both by
  170. selecting the "PCI Cardbus Bridge". Click the "Remove" button, then
  171. click the "OK" button. (Please, remove all devices under PCMCIA socket also,
  172. if there is any.)

  174. 6. In the System Properties dialog box, click the "Refresh" button.
  175.  
  176. 7. Click "Close" to close the System Properties dialog box.

  178. 8. Click "Yes" to restart the computer.
