  1. Strike Mech '98 is an OC quest derived from 1980s/1990s mecha, anime, and video game aesthetic. Remember racing games where the soundtrack was just techno music? Remember sparking blue oceans and aerial dogfights? Remember stomping across battlefields like metal avatars of death?
  2.
  3. This quest aims (futilely) to capture that sensation.
  4.
  5. Strike Mech '98 will see you as a badass mecha mercenary pilot that must navigate personal life and missions with equal skill. Galavant around the globe on a re-purposed aircraft carrier, meet new and interesting people, and kill them.
  6.
  7. Not sure what more there is to say. Enjoy a surprisingly optimistic Post-World War Three setting!

  10. *FAQ*
  11.
  12. >How is this different from Strike Mech '90?
  13. SM90 was a prequel of sorts. This followd the same characters (and more) but 8 years later.
  14.
  15. >Do I need to read SM90 to understand this?
  16. Nah. People will reference it though so I suggest you do, It's pretty short.
  17.
  18. >Are there spaceships in this?
  19. No. Everything is stuck firmly on the ground . . . except for maybe satellites. There will be no space combat though.
  20.
  21. >After WW3? Is this Post-apocalyptic?
  22. Not any more than 1953 was. The world avoided a globe-destroying war. WW3 was destructive for sure, but we all survived. Yay us.
  23.
  24. >Can I autistically customize my mech?
  25. Not really, I suck at math and the quest format doesn't lend itself well to it. That said, there will be some loadout options and things and I am always welcome to suggestions!
  26.
  27. >What is the First-Strike War?
  28. A fancy term for World War 3. Named after a Soviet/Warsaw Pact first strike on NATO forces in 1985. The war stemmed from a misunderstanding about a Western military exercise. Central Europe got pretty well wrecked and a number of cities were laid waste to with nuclear weapons (Frankfurt, Bonn, Warsaw, Paris, Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City among others) but mostly everyone is fine.
  29.
  30. >Is this based on something?
  31. Just whatever I can shamelessly rip off! The mech sprites are cobbled together from an SNES game called 'Front Mission' and the basic backstory/universe is shared with a novel I wrote called Shadow Fury. Link if you're interested (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KK5JYV1) Though it features no mechs.
