- As Stormy is minding her own business within the privacy of her bedroom
- there's a knock on the entrance's door. A couple of men can be heard murmurring
- to one another on the other side of it.
- Stormy was just waking up from a very strange nap. She exits her bedroom and
- pads through her living room to the door, furrowing her brow and listening to
- see if she can hear what the fuss is all about.
- The knocking countinues and intensifies. From the other side of the door a
- man's voice calls in an expectant sort of way, "Ma'am please open the door." A
- second voice, clearly younger than the first echoes, "We know that you're
- home."
- The murmurring countinues but is too faint to make anything specific out.
- Stormy has been away for a few years, but she's a native Havenite, and she's
- prone to...hunches. She pads back into her bedroom and tries to call the HSD on
- her iPhone.
- As it becomes clear that the door isn't being answered the first voice
- countinues to call, "We have a warrant." going on, "If you will not open the
- door we have the legal right to enter by force. I am going to count to three."
- Stormy's phone is able to contact the HSD. A woman's voice politely answers
- with, "This is the sheriff's department, how may I help you?"
- "If she doesn't answer by three can I taze her?" The younger voice wonders
- to the older voice faintly from the other side of the door, sounding hopeful
- about this.
- Stormy flinches when she hears the threat. "Hi, I was just- I'm at apartment
- One Oh Four Elm and there are men claiming to be police here. My name is Stormy
- Lee and I just wantet to confirm-" her voice drops to a near whisper. She when
- hears the excitement of the would-be tazer, she creeps into the bathroom and
- locks the door, starting to hyperventilate.
- "One." The voice calls from the other side of the door, "Two.."
- The phone in Stormy's hand goes quiet for a few moments before the woman
- responds, "We'll send a patrol over shortly. Try to stall for time and don't go
- anywhere with them until we can verify their identities."
- "O-o-okay," Stormy says. She turns the shower on full blast and tucks the
- phone into her pocket, still connected. She makes sure the light is on in the
- bathroom.
- The three doesn't come. There's only a loud CRASHING sound from the entrance
- that signifies that they've kicked the door down and are now outside of
- Stormy's bathroom, "You're only making things harder on yourself." the older
- man voice calls, "Taking a shower won't save you. I'll drag you back to the
- station naked if I have to." He tries to open the door, the handle twisting and
- turning several times, but curses under his breath as he finds it locked.
- "That's kind of hot." The younger voice murmurrs to the older voice from
- outside of the bathroom.
- Exasperated, the older voice says to the younger voice, "Will you shutup?"
- The floor plan of apartment 104 in the Elm Street Apartment Complex has two
- bedrooms, which share a bathroom between them. Stormy tries to discern if both
- men are outside the bathroom door. The conversation piece above seems to
- confirm that, so she will try to slip into the other bedroom, trying to buy
- some time for the real cops - or maybe just reinforcements of the real cops, if
- indeed these guys are legit- to arrive. If she makes it into the adjoining
- bedroom, she will lock that door as well...anything for a precious few seconds
- more.
- In the distance the familiar sirens of the HSD can be heard. They're about
- two blocks away. The infiltrators don't seem to be concerned about this as they
- boot down the bathroom door only to find it empty. "For fuck sakes." Says the
- older voice, "Jim - watch the door. Make sure she doesn't slip out." He moves
- to the bedroom, "If you keep this up you're going to get resisting arrest added
- to your rap sheet. Don't make this harder than it has to be."
- Thud. Thud. Thud. Clearly one of the men has started trying to knock down
- the bedroom door and it won't take them too much longer until they're able to
- force themselves inside.
- There's an unusual scene unfolding on the floor apartment number 104. The
- entry door has been kicked off it's hinges, and on the inside there's two men
- in state police uniforms - clearly not the sort that would be worn by the HSD,
- but a different jurisdiction. Not too far from the entry there's a young boyish
- man smoking a cigarette. Outside of the bedroom that Stormy currently hides
- inside, a grizzled older man is trying to force himself inside.
- In the distance HSD sirens can be heard that are slowly drawing closer.
- Stormy is hiding in the bedroom now, maybe trying to shimmy under the bed.
- She has no idea that Daniel is here yet, she's just silently hoping for the
- sirens to show up and for them to be the real cops...
- "Resisting arrest is only going to make this harder on you." The older man
- growls, as he countinues to throw his shoulder against the bedroom door that
- Stormy hides inside. It's clear that the door is only seconds away from being
- knocked down.
- The boyish man by the entrance seems to playing snake on his mobile phone
- rather than actually helping.
- Daniel walks up the hall of the apartment... his footfalls slowing as he
- hears the sounds of several things... The growing sirens, the sounds of the man
- trying to enter the bedroom... He approaches slowly, peering subtly inside the
- apartment at the two Staties. He frowns as he observes what is going on and
- decides to step into the apartment, easing up to the younger one while his
- attention is on his phone and sucker punches the man, seeking to knock him out.
- This boyish man clearly isn't paying attention to his surroundings and even
- if he was it's clear that he's not all that well trained or disciplined.
- Daniel's sucker punch causes him to crumple to the ground like a bag of rocks.
- His partner on the other hand seems to be much more experienced. The grizzled
- man quickly turns and draws his revolver in one smooth motion, leveling it
- toward Daniel, "ON THE GROUND! NOW!"
- The sirens seem to be right outside of the apartment block. Someone with
- especially acute hearing might even hear the sound of the HSD officers getting
- out of their car and starting to approach the building.
- Stormy hears a commotion outside in the livingroom/entryway. Against her
- better judgement, she slithers out from under the bed and tries to bolt out
- into the living room, thinking that maybe the real police are here. She's not
- particularly athletic or fast, and this is just the panicked flailing of an
- ordinary human woman.
- Daniel looks over at the other officer. "You may not know it but... You are
- out of your depth here, officer. Now... perhaps you had some tip about whoever
- used to live in this apartment... but she is not that person. She just moved in
- a couple days ago." As he speaks he moves obliquely, not directly towards the
- armed man, but moving closer at a deceptive angle. "You have a warrant, I
- assume?" he asks.
- "Last warning! On the ground, or I will shoot!" The grizzled man countinues
- to yell toward Daniel. For the time being, he's forgotten about Stormy, and
- there's nothing really stopping her from getting into the living room.
- There's now footsteps in the hallway. The HSD officers are only about fifteen
- seconds away from arriving.
- The boyish man lays still face down on the living room's floor. It's clear
- that he's going to be unconscious for a while.
- Stormy scrambles out into the living room, screeching to a halt when she
- sees Daniel. She looks between him and the other 'officer.' "Help!" she cries
- out, throwing her arms up in the air.
- Stormy's arrival seems to have provided enough distraction for Daniel to get
- close to the grizzled man without getting shot. Unlike his partner, this cop
- seems to be an experienced fighter and isn't going down so easily. He jerks his
- chin back to narrowly avoid Daniel's cross. Daniel is able to grab at his gun -
- but not entirely wrestle it away for him as the two struggle for control.
- The HSD now seem to be at the door. There's six of them all together, watching
- the scene with dumbfounded expressions as they try to figure out what is going
- on.
- Daniel looks over at the HSD, calling out to them as he grabs the gun with
- both hands and, despite his size, quite a bit of strength. "These guys broke in
- here, they don't have a warrant!" he says as he feigns struggling with the
- State trooper.who
- Stormy watches the struggle between Daniel and the gunman with a sort of
- dazed horror. She might even have forgotten the other man who was trying to get
- into the bedroom behind her. She clasps her cheeks with her hands and lets out
- a panicked cry.
- "I do have a warrant!" The grizzled man calls, as he countinues to try
- wrestle with Daniel - though unlike the shorter man, he isn't a supernatural
- and is slowly being overpowered, "I'm with the state police! They're resisting
- arrest!"
- The deputies countinue to look dumbfounded. Each of them place a hand to their
- holstered revolvers and a woman steps forward, "Everyone calm down." She points
- at the grizzled man and Daniel, "Both of you - set the gun down on the floor
- slowly, alright?"
- The grizzled man seems to hesitate. But he complies, slowly lowering the gun to
- the floor as he warily watches Daniel.
- Daniel pulls back from the older trooper as he seems to be willing to put
- down his gun, "We asked for a warrant and he refused to show it." he tells the
- HSD officers, stepping well away from him to stand near Stormy.
- "Let's see the warrant." The female HSD says to the grizzled man.
- Looking very smug, The grizzled man produces a very official looking piece of
- paper and hands it to her. She takes it to the other lingering deputies, and
- they seem to murmurr amongst themselves as they scrutinize the document.
- Stormy draws near to Daniel. Without thinking, she instinctively curls her
- arm around his and presses into him.
- The murmurring countinues amongst the HSD until the female deputy once more
- speaks up at the grizzled man, "Sir, this warrant is expired. This is
- trespassing."
- "It's only a day. Don't be that jobsworth that lets 'em get away on a
- technicality." Comes the grizzled man's retort.
- The HSD deputy shakes her head, "Take your partner and get out of here before I
- have /you/ arrested."
- Daniel shifts so that he is between Stormy and the officers as she holds
- fast to his arm, "Well, when we asked for a warrant he didn't produce it.
- Probably because he knows it was expire. He broke down the door, if he doesn't
- leave now I want him arrested for breaking and entering." he says with obvious
- ire.
- "And I don't want to deal with the paperwork." Comes the deputy's lazy reply
- to Daniel, "If you don't like it then file a complaint with our missing
- sheriff." Her gaze flicks back to the grizzled man, "What's it going to be?"
- The grizzled man hesitates for a few moments before he starts to drag his
- unconscious partner out of the apartment and into the hallway. The HSD start to
- leave after them - leaving Daniel and Stormy in the apartment.
- Stormy peers closely at the departing group of law enforcement. Sometimes
- she sees unusual shadows hovering about people. She doesn't expect to, but you
- never know.
