  33. Thanks for the response. i'd like to talk to you in person if it's possible. i have a lot of ideas. i can come up with all of the numbers and possibilities and everything to make programming easier for you. i will mess with the numbers. is there any way i could demo it to see how its going? i don't want to know any secret stuff. i just want to help. i'd be willing to set up information for the item mall and get things going that way. i'd be willing to donate. I'd like to talk to you about in person though. (about what my donation would be).
  34. Thanks,
  35. Tyler

  42. Tyler,
  43.
  44. I've taken some time to consider your offer and have decided that I agree with it in principle and would like to continue discussing the terms of the arrangement. However, I first need further clarification regarding your planned involvement with the project as well as the proposed terms of your investment. I also ask that you agree to several terms of my own, mostly relating to ownership and management of the game service and its related systems.
  45.
  46. In your first message you referenced volunteering to start collecting donations and/or soliciting platinum pre-sales as a source of funding. While I would appreciate your involvement in any community fund raising effort we undertake, I would have to insist that I retain sole ownership and control over the game server software and its related platinum sales/donation system(s). I feel this is reasonable due to the risks involved in a breach of either system as well as the potential impact to the service (both real and virtual) which would inevitably jeopardize the project's ability to return your investment. I also believe this is reasonable given the somewhat invaluable nature of the technology as well as the literally thousands of hours I have spent researching and developing it without any compensation whatsoever.
  47.
  48. I understand that as part of the arrangement you would like to be made a guardian. Although I am opposed to selling the position of guardian in principle, I feel that making you a guardian would be justified given the substantial benefit your investment poses for both the game and it's community. At the same time I am sure the community would expect you to assume all of the responsibilities of being a guardian, as well as the same level of accountability for your actions as would be expected of any other guardian. For this reason, your continuation as guardian would be subject to the same terms of conduct as any other guardian as part of our arrangement.
  49.
  50. At this time I am primarily interested in acquiring basic funding for a website, database server, and game/test servers. I would also like to allocate funds for legal representation to discuss international copyright issues as well as for basic contractual and liability concerns. I am still optimistic that a substantial portion of these funds could be collected in platinum backed donations from the community and plan to pursue this avenue as soon as I can provide a playable demo on a test server. As an FYI, The game server software is written in C# for Microsoft .NET 2.0 and is backed by MySQL using the latest ODBC connector.
  51.
  52. The game service is still substantially incomplete and is otherwise without a website or payment system/item mall. I have recently been spending time working on mapping but am currently in the process of reimplementing world processing to facilitate spawning of monsters and items. This will soon lead to implementing attacking, weapon damage/hit chance, skills, etc. Given the close proximity to Christmas, it may be a week or longer before I am done with this particular task. It will, however, mark the beginning of spawning kill-able monsters that drop loot, which is the whole point of the game, isn't it?
  53.
  54. I am looking forward to hearing more about your offer as well as any other suggestions or concerns you may have.
  55.
  56. Sincerely,
  57.
  58. Lord Thang
